When you say split - are the three sections electrically isolated from each other, or have you just hitched up the transformers at various points around the layout to roughly equalise the voltage? I've bought a couple of extra transformers over the past few years with the vague intention of experimenting when/if I even get the time, but I'm far from familiar with electrics and don't really want to blow anything up - not least as so much of the 12v stuff is so expensive these days...!

Top of my list would be something based on the Dalek city from the first Dalek serial - it recently made a return in the open episodes of the current series which might satisfy any alleged Nu-Who bias from the BBC license team...

I reviewed it over on Brickset, but I was a bit conflicted as to whether it is a 'good set' or even if that ends up mattering. Others may be able to offer more concise views! http://brickset.com/reviews/49138

Simpsons S2 CMF are £1 each in Asda - appears to be national. At mine they were still labelled at £2.49 but scanned at the sale price on the till.

My original entry into Lego trains was receiving 7710 and 7720 at some point between the ages of 5 and 8. Then I got the 12v motor and associated track to motorise the former on my 9th birthday, just in time to learn that they were replacing the whole line with 9v :( However my parents quickly snapped up any 12v stuff they could find and then rationed it out over several years of birthdays and Christmases so I got a few more sets and accessories for a while afterwards :) The whole lot was packed up in the loft from the ages of 15 to 29 and only rediscovered when I was moving stuff out into my own house. A frantic period of re-building followed and this was enough to reignite the Lego bug, especially for trains! I managed to get the Emerald Night before prices got too crazy and the last Maersk train in my local Lego shop before it was discontinued, as well as the Horizon Express and the red 2010 City passenger train. I'm going to introduce my 18 month old daughter to the latter at Christmas (when she'll be nearly 2) to see what she makes of it all :) And now I'm just waiting to see what Lego has for us next!

The new series starts on the 19th Sept (UK and USA) so it would make sense to ride on the (frock)coattail of the resulting publicly and maybe get some pictures out around then. This is just speculation and finger crossing, this set feels like it's been in development for ever...

The answer is in the post literally one above yours

Love them both, especially Tomb - I know it's going to sound weird, but as soon as I saw it, I could hear the score from those scenes in my head!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
PeteM replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Only the U.S. version, it is featured in the UK one (though the Pet Shop isn't!). -
Found a massive green flame piece in a car park a few years ago - I did pick it up and keep it, but it's so badly scuffed and scratched I've never found a use for it... http://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-4615113

I think my problem with 'Legos' is that it doesn't make sense to me - the company is called Lego. They make Lego bricks. Which are made into Lego sets. Those two are the words to pluralise... Also, it's primarily an American thing, here in UK I have never ever heard even non-fans use Legos. Having said that, though it makes me cringe every time I see it, I would never correct anyone who uses it. Life really is too short :)

What is your favorite lego series
PeteM replied to Bluecoat officer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yes to this! The theme passed me by until I happened to pick up a cheap Mad Scientist and Monster set which I absolutely loved - collected as much as finances and availability would allow! Definitely my favourite 'one and done' theme. -
What is your favorite lego series
PeteM replied to Bluecoat officer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In my youth it was Trains (12v only, none of this modern 9v nonsense), now I find myself drawn to the Creator series - both expert and 'normal'. -
I'm really not that bothered by minifigs in general, let alone believing it is a requirement for a licensed theme to reproduce every single character, both major and minor.
-
I've had my eye on something similar, let us know how these work out!
-
I'm still upset that they ditched the 12v system!

HE was announced at the end of Sept 2012, for release in Jan 2013. However, Maersk Train was revealed in Jan 2011 and released Apr 2011, so it's still not too late!

White spirit and and soft cloth works for me on dirty rails and, though I'm always slightly concerned what effect it's having on the plastic, it doesn't seem to do any damage that I can see. I have a few rusty rails from an eBay lot that this fails to shift, so I might try LT12v's method above on those - thanks!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
PeteM replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I managed to get one from the Cardiff store on the last day of double points, but had to ask for it as it wasn't on the shelf. Always worth checking what they have 'out back' :) -
No, you're right, not even a whisper - my post was made more in hope than knowledge... But an A4 similar to Mallard would be great!
