  1. They do often go for crazy prices - mind you, the tan windows alone on BrickLink make this fairly pricey choice for a self-build....
  2. Looks great - I may need to go to eBay to get a little more track... And buy a bigger house :)
  3. The staff in Cardiff are excellent - they are friendly, have no problem hen you spend ages trying to get the tub filled perfectly and always tape down the lid for me when it's slightly (but not excessively) over-full. No idea what that other chap is on about....
  4. Creator trains seem to be on a two year release schedule, so fingers crossed for a reveal soon and availability early next year! Sure there's no more clues...? ;-)
  5. The Black Seas Barracuda for me too :) I'm new here - didn't have much Pirates stuff when I was young as that was my brothers theme (though I had trains, so not all bad!). However 6285 was the set I always looked at longingly in the catalogues and finally I managed to score a (relatively) cheap one on eBay. It was in a pretty bad condition - covered in dust and dirt, creased sails and missing pieces. I've spent the past week or so restoring her and, while still awaiting some final BrickLink orders (for one missing topsail and spar, other misc pieces) she looks so much better now! Bit worried this might be the start of something...
  6. As a child: 6067 Guarded Inn. Not only did it connect to my other castle sets and provide a bit if variety amongst all the battlements, but I managed to turn it into a cottage, then it was a small country train station for a few years... :) Of the newer sets, it has to be 10194 Emerald Night - stunning build, stunning model!
  7. Bristol - Cribbs Causeway
  8. It may be gone online, but my nearest Toys R Us has a stack of them at RRP that I can't see disappearing any time soon...
  9. I don't know much about layouts, but as you've got a decent space I would suggest having two distinct loops of track if you can - that way you can run at least two trains at any one time.
  10. Set 10226 Sopwith Camel - I'm saving it as a reward to myself when I've finished decorating the room that will shortly need to be a nursery :) I also expect it to be the last 'big' set I get for a while... :(
  11. You may joke, but.... http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71360
  12. I do love the Mondrian model - not sure it'll get all the way on Cuusoo, but has inspired me to try something similar... :)
  13. Another vote for the A4 Pacific Class, preferably in the LNER colours. I know there's various mocs, but would love to see what Lego themselves do with it...
  14. I've been running my Emerald Night on 12v track all weekend - no problem through curves, points or crossovers (though I was running it with a few carriages so wasn't at full throttle) and it clears the power rail :-) Things to look out for: - the track does need to be perfectly flat, if you run any cables (remote points, signals etc) make sure they go between sleepers rather than underneath them - the wire between battery box tender and the engine being too short causes derailments on corners, points etc
  15. This is excellent - not seen any H2G2 MOCs before (though I've never really looked!) :)
  16. I thought I'd take advantage of the snow today for a quick photo, though I seem to have filtered it to such an extent that you'd never know it was real snow! ETA: disclaimer - I've never photographed minifigs before and was trying to do it with just an iPhone!
  17. Nice to know others have the same problem - mine regularly take huge pleasure in chasing and then deftly 'de-pantographing' my 7740 and 7745 :) I'm expecting the same problem with the Horizon Express...
  18. That looks great - I'll also be running mine on 12v (when I get it!), did you have to make any modifications? I've not seen any, but I thought the 12v motors were slightly bulkier than the 9v/PF versions? This will be my first train since the 1980s, I didn't know that the new wheels had trouble with the old points so thanks for the heads up :-)
  19. Oh no, don't say that - my willpower to resist buying two was already waning! :) Glad to hear it's a good set, can't wait to get it...
  20. I've only just rediscovered my love for Lego so very nearly missed this set as it was rapidly disappearing in the UK. I grabbed a copy from amazon.fr a couple of weeks ago and am saving it for a post-Christmas build - can't wait! :)
  21. Thanks for the heads up, finally couldn't resist getting Unexpected Gathering (Lego-1 Willpower-0) :-)
  22. Thanks for the review, will definitely be purchasing at least one of these on release - it'll be my first Lego train for 25 years (since I got the very similar 7745 for Christmas 1987)!
  23. There are some track plans from page 58 of the classic 7777 ideas book (scans linked below)... http://www.peeron.com/scans/7777-1/
  24. Maersk train discontinued according to a discussion on Brickset: http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/7185/confirmed-sets-that-eol-in-2012-and-those-staying-on-for-2013
