[Freebuild] Embervale Advent Calendar 2024 - Storytime

Way to use all those transparent fern pieces, they look quite magical against the snow. Love the hint of yellow in the tree too, helps sell it as a birch!- 100 replies

We still want very much to make it happen, but it's been hard to push through, though some progress has been made. At this point setting up a date would be pointless. I think we're looking at about 3-4 months of work, but only if we actually... work.

The grill tiles for the garden are brilliant and subtle. I'm pretty curious as to where this cut out curve is going...- 100 replies

Love the use of the new muffin piece. I'm surprised this is your first microscale, I was almost sure we'd seen micros from you before. You're off to a cool start anyways! (sigh )- 100 replies

The first scene was really fun to see come together and I already love where this second one is going and how it's tying into the story. Awesome concept.- 100 replies

What a fluffy looking rug, great idea to sink the cat in it a bit, that really helps it look cozy.- 100 replies

Your floor design on a couple of these is really interesting with the clip panels! Love the scroll cart idea too. -

I love what you've done with those flexible stringy pieces, very cool bit of realistic detail. Lovely ship overall. -
Such a fun build, as I said on Flickr the mix of scales is really cool. I love the berry patch and the big flowers.

The blend of oriental and western style on this is fascinating! I love the yellow wall with the blue shutters, bold choices.

Thank you! It was really fun to fill out the whole frame with LEGO--sometimes "all LEGO scenes" actually have sky or something, but the awnings and wooden roof let me avoid that scenario. Thanks Eyrezer!

Still love the little windows you made out of cheese slopes! Really nice how much depth there is to this scene too.

Right, we'll keep the factions as back story (i.e. your character, shipwrecked on the new map, may have been from one of the current factions), but players will be free to group themselves totally independently and create alliances on their own. Our hope is to make piracy/privateering more a focus of the game for more entertaining MRCAs.

I saw a beautiful first draft of the map the other day from the cartography team, so something is happening

This is nice, ship in the background is great!

Right, we don't want to overheat customers but we do want to wow them with molten glass being blown in their sight

Thanks everyone for the comments! I'm glad you mentioned the roof, because it was a bit of a pain to stick up there, so I'm glad someone noticed it Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I was wondering how long I could go before someone noticed that there was no furnace If I had thought of it when I first started building, I would have put one off to one side or another, because I think I could have made a fairly cool red glow or something. But by the time I realized that this guy had for some reason randomly heated his glass and then walked out into the middle of the market to blow it, a furnace just didn't fit in the rest of the scene. Presumably it is just barely out of the picture kind of in front and to your right. Interesting point about the newsboy hat. I think of it as a "reformer's hat" which feels medieval to me. Of course it really is actually a newsboy cap, but it's not too different from this kind of thing: Anyway, thank you for sending me on a rabbit trail down the history of newsboy caps... and for inspiring me to wear mine today

The way you did the dark grey stones on the edge of the lower story is pretty neat! Neat interior too. A really nice little first MOC.

Still can't get over that beautiful circular window. Great job on the lighting to make it shine. One of your best builds for sure!

This is a very cool castle, I like how it builds to a central tower that really steals the show with some serious height. Really nice to see the bat theme getting some love too. I like the rounded crenelations and the dark landscape. Great to see a new build from you!
