  1. There really is no deep meaning to "Goose" the cats name. In the comics Captain Marvel's cat is "Chewie". But marketing felt uncomfortable using that Star Wars reference in the MCU, so "Goose" it is.
  2. In the US they are readily available at Target. They seem to be selling well. I do think this is very much a "test the waters" theme and wave.
  3. I think that little red dangly Pinata thing in the Dorado Showdown set is probably it. (For those that missed it, that is supposed to be a 'Diablo Pinata". Yeah if you squint really really hard...) I think Diablo might still be a hair too dark for Lego. I could be wrong. I never would have guessed they would go for Overwatch, let alone ANY shooter'ish video game. But I think that the fact that Overwatch is more or less a SciFi Superhero shooter as opposed to a Blood/Splatter/Gore/MurderDeathKill one likely played a part. In much the same way I think Splatoon would likely get around their "no shooter video game" rules. Which is a shame. Sign me up for a Diablo bigfig please. Preferably chunkier Diablo 2 Diablo tyvm.
  4. Overwatch has been weird. You get some vibes that it is a one and done, than others that it is not. I suspect that it is an experiemnt so Lego is taking a wait and see approach. Although it seems to be selling well. Anymore news on whether they are adding more Blizzard licences such as Wow? (I really can't see Lego Diablo sadly...)
  5. It actually depends on whether you consider the Ninjago City as a Modular or not (and yes that is wholly subjective). While mainly built on a modular footprint, NC has a Cherry tree that extends past the invisible wall. I've just started building mine. It does look a lot better in person than in the pictures. Although like I said a few pages back, unlike most of the others, this one is really really impacted by angle of view. My Modular's are on a shelf that is at head height around 2 1/2 walls of my office. Looking at it straight on, where it is mainly level with your field of view, really makes it look fantastic. When you are not looking down on the awning, and it's not obscuring the ground floor. The colors seem to pop more. Especially the ground floor Octan colors. I still wish the Garage sign wasn't in front of the Vet's.
  6. Either a new Space Shuttle, or maybe a new "Pirate Ship". Perhaps a nice Bluecoat explorer ship?
  7. /sob So after a few years on display in my office, I finally had to pack up a few ships in order to make room for my expanding shelf city. I carefully dissasembled and packed up the Black Pearl, QAR and finally 6243 Brickbeards Bounty. And then I looked down at my work table and notice the pile of splintered redish brown shards... Damn you redish brown!!! Damn you straight to heck!
  8. ROFL! That is exactly what got me into Ninjago to begin with. I liked that the original Storm Fighter was a good match and made a good fighter jet for my ADU forces. So I modified it to add landing gear and remove the pearl gold bits. And somehow in the process I got hooked on the Ninjago line itself.
  9. I just built this one last night. It completely charmed me. It's simple and simplified. But it's all there. You can feel the Classic Space radiating off it. Just perfect except for the lack of red wheels. As an added bonus Set 75970 Tracer vs Widowmaker's drone ship/one man flyer attaches to the back of the Watchpoint Gibralter booster to form the complete ship.
  10. My single item on a Wishlist would be the train that we never got. The Snake Train! We've seen so many pictures of the prototype. It's even in the official DK books! JUST MAKE IT ALREADY!
  11. I built the Camaro and the McLaren last night. Very enjoyable. Some really unusual builds in them. Especially the McLaren. The rather unusual use of Nexo Knights weapon parts for the Head and Tail lights were definitely distinct and creative. The Camaro looks fantastic, but does 100% benefit from its stickers. As without them you don't have a front grill or head and tail lights. The McLaren pretty much needs at a minimum the stickers on the cockpit. It just doesn't look right without them. Especially with the clever inverted canopy they use for the bottom. Those printed sidewall hubcaps on the Camaro are far more striking and immersive on the model in hand then you would think from pictures.
  12. I was taking a good look at the CG in my local LEGO store yesterday. I like it, but this one definitely has a few display concerns that most others do not. None of the other modular are quite as effected by line of sight or angle of view. If you display yours on a shelf I would say it works best on the leading corner of the shelf. The one that people entering the room face or encounter first as they come in. It’s best angle of view is from that front sidewalk corner. It you place it on the trailing or far corner of your shelf, where the viewers line of sight goes diagonally across it, the building appears much narrower than it in fact is. It also looks best from a lower angle. One where you are looking straight on at it, rather than looking down on it. Looking down on it, it looks a little cluttered. But the bulk of that could probably be fixed by tiling the top of the awning over the pump. We complain about the lack of tiling in the interior, when the truth is, on seeing it, where they needed some tiling was that lower roof. You don’t really notice the ground floor interior that much when it’s displayed, as it has so much going on outside at that level. And the island awning blocks most direct line of sight in. The little tow truck looks gorgeous. Much nicer than I was expecting.
  13. In their Lego Neighborhood Book 2, The Lyles brothers have pictures of a near perfect building for Wayne Industries. An Art Deco office tower with a nice Bat symbol on the front. Not to far from your second picture.
  14. Sadly I don't think Wayne Manor would work well as a Modular. It's more of a stand alone. But I would kill for an Art Deco Wayne Industries building
  15. I would like a nice as you say “Grand” building. We’re overdue for a new Government Anchor building. Civil buildings seem the most likely to fit what you describe. For a European style building a Post Office would be perfect. While a Police Precinct would be an excellent American style. And am Ithe only one wishing that they would sneak a licensed building or two into the modular? A full blown Dr. Stranges brownstone from the comics or Avengers Central Park ?Mansion would be amazing. Or a Dailly Bugle building.
  16. A Disney D2C? Safe bet is whatever it is goes nicely with the CMF's. But yeah I kinda hope not Sleeping Beauty's Castle just to give some distance from the previous. Maybe a Haunted Mansion? Or a Jolly Roger (Hooks Ship)?
  17. Of those two, the Higher Price point is likely the only real point of concern. But not as much as we might think. The uld $150-$160 sweet spot for Adult consumer spending now sits at $199, That;s just how it is right now, and not unique to Lego. The same in most Adult collectible markets these days. And I hate to point this out to everybody. But we here, the uber fans, say about how a building will sell seems to rarely if ever line up with reality. Just to remind all the Palace Cinema is the #2 building behind the FB I believe. (Gee! I wonder why DD and CG have cars?) My point being, while we here are the most discriminating of Lego's consumer base. We are not good indicators of the buying behavior of the broader consumer base. Plus our opinions of these sets tend to soften and move towards positive pretty quickly once we get them in hand. At this time last year commentary on the DD was savage. Now it almost falls in the category of "beloved".
  18. Ah! That might explain it. But damn is it annoying to wade through.
  19. Is it just me, or have 80%+ of the recent Ideas submissions simply been reworks of the Pop-Up book? I mean really people! Have you no shame!?!?!?!
  20. Wow! That is stunning. I think it looks better and more alive than an architects model.
  21. Is it wrong that my mind jumps to the dark and twisted things Lego will never give us? "Fun in Vegas! With Blackjack and Strippers!" (That one comes with an official Politician minifig!) "Fun at the Biker Bar!" (Although we got kinda close to that with Ninjago now that I think about it?) "Fun in the CSI Unit!"
  22. Yeah, but there is a difference between a racing garage, which often looks cleaner than the average hospital OR, and a working city repair garage. Which tend to be somewhat filthy inside, even the neatest of places. I think the studded textured floor is more an attempt to convey the mess via texture. I'm not saying that I agree with the decision, just that I understand what they were going for.
  23. Wow! That is a really fantastic video. A true must watch. It tells so much about the elements of the design process and decisions that we always seem to question. Things like they did think about the tiling, and the decision was made to leave the interior untiled for texture not simply parts count. Or how and why things work the way they do. One neat thing that I had not noticed until the interviewer asked about the grey floor color. Am I wrong, or is this the first modular where the upper story floor colors do not show through on the front facings? Normally we have a subtle color stripe that is the floor plate of the upper floors. But it's completely masked here. Brilliant! I'm also liking the toy truck much more now that I see you can open the hood to work on the engine. One other neat thing that I just noticed. He mentions that you can repeat the middle floor, like you can in all Modulars. But interestingly, it looks like you could repeat either the middle or the upper floor in this one. So you could leave out the Vet and have a few floors of apartments. Or just put in office space. There are no interfaces or elements of the roof on the upper floor assembly. I think the only other building that does that is the Grand emporium. But that cheats it as the middle and upper floors are pretty much the same. Maybe you could do it with the right hand building in Assembly Square? There are really a lot of subtle neat design things in this one once you actually get a good look at it.
  24. This is I think an example of the sort of thing you are talking about. Apologies as it is one of the Brickcity Depot/Lego Neighborhood Book guy’s design plans for sale. But just looking at the picture nicely shows what you are asking about better than we could explain it. https://www.brickcitydepot.com/CB017/san_francisco_victorian_house
  25. Gorgeous! Very eye catching. I love those angles balconies.
