Just a heads up, your ad provider has been serving a series of ads that cause iPad browsers such as Safari to close your site and pop up the App Store, all morning. It makes the site pretty much unusable on tablet or iPhone when it happens.

Keep in mind the uptick in interest in Classic Space started largely with the popularity of Benny from TLM. It will take them some time to fully act on or capitalize that, and new themes are planned 2-3 years out. So I figure 2016 is likely.

Unless the set is a retail store exclusive, in which case often major story characters will sometimes not be exclusive to the set.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Faefrost replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Carnage? In the comics? Ummm... The Ultimate one has breasts? It's not so much a matter of need that so troubles some people about the various toy Spider Vehicles. It's more they run counter to a very very longstanding character quirk that has been present in most incarnations of Spider-Man, or rather in Peter Parker. One of the longstanding bits of Spider-man lore is as a lifelong New Yorker, Peter Parker never actually learned to drive, or got a drivers license. One of the most hilarious classic stories from the 70's involves the Human Torch attempting to teach him to drive. -
What the color change in the Green baseplates?
Faefrost replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm still kicking myself. There was a booth in the mall near me that was selling these fascinating Lego compatable baseplates. They came in a few sizes from standard 32x32 to I think 80x80. They were each mounted on Masonite. And they had all sorts of varied colors and printing. From city streets to icy snow drifts and space markings. I meant to go back and take a closer look, but they were gone after Christmas. -
Unfortunately here's the thing. Lego would do it again in a heartbeat. Pirates sells well and is one of their permanent recurring "evergreen" themes. But Pirate stuff directly associated with and tied to a current movie sells an order of magnitude better than in house Pirates. So when the movie tie in is available, they will jump at it.

The Haunted Mansion is in direct competition for "Best Lego Set ever made", at a minimum it comes out high in the top 5 of "best ever" no matter how you evaluate it, so it's going to be hard to top. But the SD Spooky Mansion or whatever it is called looks great, on par with and a slight improvement over the MF Vampyres Castle. Which for a regular retail set, we can't ask for anything more. The Vampyres Castle is a truly fantastic set. Anything that is more of that is welcome.

Does anyone know how the Joust set did D2C? Honestly I think if we ever see a "UCS Castle" it will be Disney's. Castle, Space and Pirates are considered Evergreen just in semi regular rotation, so yeah that makes sense. Although I would expect something closer to 3 year rotation. Wild West is a past theme but not one that they consider an absolute recurring Evergreen one. We will probably see it again at some point. But I would not expect a steady or predictable rotation. It would make sense. Figure there was a bit of if not a non compete a discouragement from doing Fantasy Era type sub themes while the Middle Earth stuff was still ongoing and in effect.

One way to guess if it will be Futuron or just a classic space guy is the look at other minifigs being produced around the same time or recently. Torso color + arm color + hands. Futuron would be a white torso with green arms and hands. Exo suit classic space style would be all three green. We only got the green CS guys because that combo was most available due to TMNT. Has anything lately used a white torso with green arms and hands?

Probably stickers for the narrower paned black windows with broken glass.

In theory the way he did it those walls should be fully hinged so you could flex the curve any way you wanted, just about.

There is an orange shade from Friends that would probably do the trick for her.

Ok thank you... I was afraid it was just me? I saw that and kept thinking "if Batman puts the big target on his chest to encourage aiming at his heaviest armor point, why is robing putting it on his crotch?" That must be one hell of an athletic cup to hang a "please kick me here" sign there? And yeah I vastly prefer the more modern yet non new 52 Tim Drake Red and Black outfit.

Which is still an order of magnitude longer than the Mars Rover was available, with no signs of a rerun?

Oh wow! I just saw the two sets revealed... Damn you Lego! I had had absolutely no interest in this line... but it just looks to good. That Haunted Mansion! and am I the only one hoping that somebody starts making some Venture Brothers customs to "go along" with this theme? VENTURESTEIN LIVES!!! You're right. Heck put a black head in it with just two eyes. like a Jawa and it would be perfect.

All it means is they checked to confirm that the license was available and not currently locked by another company. That is it. This does not cover or include a conflict with their own internal licensing groups plans or what they already have locked, as that evaluation is done at review. The check at 1000 is basically to make sure it is not one of the "impossible licenses". Something like Transformers, which is outright owned by a competitor, or Halo, which is already locked in by someone else. They do not examine the complexities of their own already in effect licenses at this time. Nor do they examine conflicts or non competes with their current licenses until review.

I really think you guys are over analyzing. If Lego elected to make the Simpsons to begin with then all major characters are likely on the table. Up to and including Duffman. Lego's rules are no human on human killing, animal violence or alcohol in a real world context such as City. Simpsons is considered a licensed fantasy setting. Duffman might just be borderline, but Moe and Barny are main characters and non issues. Rev. Lovejoy is a named principle character, not simply a depiction of religion. It's the difference of while Lego would not release a Rabbi or Catholic Priest CMF, they would have no issue with Friar Tuck in a Robin Hood theme. Context is important. I think the only figure we can thankfully rule out out of hand is the full frontal naked skateboarding Bart from the movie (sorry spoilers, consider yourself warned.)

Disappointed Lego Customer Service - Order cancelled
Faefrost replied to m3eu's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Rechargeable batteries are a particularly annoying thing. They are batch products and the factories that make them are not always the most predictable (as in it does not take much to have an unacceptable batch). Anything like that puts the merchant like Lego at the mercy of a third parties process and predictions.- 16 replies

They did say the Exploration Ship also has a sunken freighter. So I would assume some have some terrain bits. Isn't that the normal patern? Winter release is the alternating Police and Fire plus the bulk of the Great Vehicles. Summer release is the annual special yearly sub theme. Mining, Coast Guard, Arctic, etc. it sounds like the big set is a special set to compliment and replace last years 60026 Town Square.

A useful way of arriving at a rough approximation is to take the materials costs and double it, which will give you a built in manpower and time cost. Unless it is something really really unique and spectacular.

They are micro motor mounting brackets... And you will not believe what they cost on Bricklink these days. I think I recently paid $20 for one to replace a broken part. Those are some bodies custom work. But very nicely done.

I think what it is is Target and Walmart are getting very leery of stocking sets above the $99 price point unless they come from certain proven lines. Mainly City and Star Wars. Notice how careful Lego has been to keep certain other lines flagship sets below that price point? Friends, Chima, super Heroes. If you also look the Ninjago Battle for Ninjago City set is also fairly unseen at Target and Walmart.
