  1. I recently purchased an old Blacktron II Alpha Centauri Outpost that was still in its original box. But I wanted to build the set and space is tight around here, so I chucked the box in the bin. No regrets. :-)
  2. Inertia, you have co-workers who are also into Legos and know where to find them? Awesome! One thing I love about going out of town is visiting toy stores and seeing if they have stuff my locals stores haven't gotten in. And I like that you work harder to be able to afford more Legos. Good a justification as any! "Hambibble" is just a random, nonsense muttering by Scouse do his discomfort with the fawning Lydia.
  3. Thanks for the plus, Inertia! :-D Great review, as you've well summed up both the features and drawbacks of what is a beautiful, sleek ship. I believe that "200" canopy is unique to this set.
  4. New comic! Up now! Not So Bad a Kidnapping (Part 2): http://drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=431507 Glad you're back from the crappy conference! Hope you got some complimentary drinks, at least. Also congrats on the new acquisitions. I don't have the Spyrius robos, although they are cool. And you know I love the Gamma-V, my self-dubbed "fastest ship in the galaxy." I look forward to your Stardefender review. What are your thoughts on the Agents sets, btw?
  5. I guess it's a little dark. I generally tone down the blues since they are overwhelming on the laptop screen. This was a difficult shoot since the only way I could seem to prevent the reflection on the screen that day was to tilt the screen downwards, but that made it darker. I'm still figuring out the lighting issues 60+ comics in. But I think the jungle scene in the next comic coming up looks good. It's funny you say dull, though, since I just shot a storyline with an all-black background created from cushions.
  6. You really saved the best for last, TheBrickster! I loved your reviews and thank you for giving us detailed looks at these sets. I don't have the Galaxy Explorer and have never seen it this "up close." You said you have ten of the Blue Era Classic sets. Do you have Space sets from eras that you will review?
  7. LOL, NO. You'll see the mystery set, which is fully space, in the next story.
  8. That's saying a lot, considering I've done a lot of strange things in the comics. All I can say is Scouse's island adventure will make sense in the end.
  9. Wow, thanks a lot, Zepher! I don't build a lot of MOCs, but when I do I like to make ships that have an old school feel to them. While I use SNOT, I'm not hung up on making everything look more realistic and high-tech, which I think has led people to create some great MOCs, but I don't think feel like actual Lego models. I'm not sure if I actually accomplished that with this MOC or whether it's just the collage, but all I know is I made an MOC that's the kind of ship I would have had lots of fun playing with as a kid. I'm not gonna pretend it's a perfect MOC - It's pretty fragile until you get everything in place and the cell door isn't perfect since it pops off once in awhile when you close it, but I was pretty happy overall. It might not have won the contest, but it will be one of the few MOCs to pop up in my comic, at least. :)
  10. A new storyline begins today! Last time we saw Scouse, the manager of M:Tron's operations on Tiberius, he got really drunk at the Raven's Port bar and then was abducted by aliens! His current whereabouts, revealed in this comic, might not be what you expected... Not So Bad a Kidnapping (Part 1): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=429441
  11. I really do want the mystery set I'm talking about, but it's going for between about $70 and $100 on eBay and Bricklink, and that's not in the budget right now. My cousins still live at home, with my one cousin residing for now with his wife and kid in the apartment attached to my uncle and aunt's house. My uncle and aunt never threw away any of their kids' old toys, unlike my parents. There are closets still filled with He-Man, Transformers, and G.I. Joe figures, and of course Lego. It's a wonderland! They have a few sets that make me jealous. Especially the Futuron Monorail! But my one cousin already offered that we could build the Monorail and feature it in a comic, and I already have an idea for it, so that's likely to happen. BTW, the mystery set I'm talking about is not the Monorail. The funny thing is there was one small but prominent part that we just couldn't find and I used a different colored replacement, so I'm waiting to see if anyone notices, lol.
  12. eBay 15% Bricklink 75% Brick and Mortar stores 10%
  13. I don't know, but I'll upload one without stickers and see what it says. I'll post here once it goes through. EDIT: Actually, I forgot that I could just tell the price within LDD itself. With stickers, it's USD $51.73. Without, USD $29.75. See, told you the stickers made a difference! Sale page: http://shop.lego.com/Product/Factory/Produ...0c-d4996aabf529
  14. Bummer about the bricks! Maybe they'll come back in stock. The reason the ship is so expensive is because of all the stickers. I have to double check this, but I think you need two of each sheet. I could upload a version of the ship with just enough stickers applied to have what you need. If you didn't know, each sticker you apply in LDD gives you another sticker sheet! Or, you could build the ship yourself using parts you already have and just order the few you're missing from Factory. BTW, I didn't win the contest. That sucks. Good MOCS won, though.
  15. But I don't wanna use my imagination!
  16. Thanks, guys! I'll bug Lego for it, then!
  17. The final part of "The Gods of Rock" just went up: http://drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=425616 It's the shortest comic I've ever done, but it won't be a habit. I just felt the pacing of the story worked better if I made this its own comic instead of tacking it on to the last one. A new story begins with a longer comic on Sunday! And I shot an impromptu story tonight at my cousin's house using a set he has and I WISH I had, and it'll blow your socks off. But you won't see it for a few weeks yet. :-)
  18. I missed out on getting the May / June issue of LEGO Club Magazine features a cartoon LEGO Indiana Jones cover and a three-page LEGO Indy comic strip adventure. Anyone have one to spare?
  19. There's no way I could spend that much on a Lego set, as much as I do want this. It'd be one thing if I saved up for it, but I'd rather be able to buy the new Indiana Jones figures and Transformers, etc. That said, this set does have a heck of a lot of pieces, especially the plethora of minifigs, so I imagine the price is justified. Lego can't sell it at or below cost!
  20. That's great. I thought I was looking at an actual Futuron set that came out in the late '80s, not an MOC.
  21. LOL, thanks, LEGO, that's so helpful.
  22. Interesting...... So, do the cards have instructions, or are you just expected to go off the picture?
  23. That's the problem; the instructions aren't anywhere to be found, not that I've seen. The set does seem to have some rare parts, but I doubt $350 worth.
  24. It would be nice to have the entire DACTA set, with all the cards and such, but I'll have to look into how rare the parts are. The only problem is that the instructions don't seem to be available anywhere I look. You don't know how much I've drooled over this set, and I'm not sure why it's so appealing. But I have a great idea for it in terms of a comic storyline if I ever obtain it. Yeah, the female hairpiece is from Agent Trace from the Agents line. I've been waiting so long for a female ponytail with bangs at the front; it looks much more feminine than the old ponytail with a pulled back front. I didn't actually buy any Agents sets, though, just a couple Agent Traces off Bricklink. Couldn't wait to use the hairpiece in the comic and thought "Mary" from Springsteen's songs was a good use. :) Even though there are 8 parts, Part 7 might as well be the end. Part 8 is more of a short epilogue.
  25. These plates are great in setting up your space base and giving your ships a place to land. My favorite, though, is the lunar crater plate, which I use to death in my comic. :)
