  2. My guess is... awkward! Thanks, Algernon!

  4. I'm starting to wonder - Would LEGO place prelim shots on a store banner? That seems an odd thing to do, since it wouldn't match the product on the shelves. I know they do that in retailer catalogs, but in store POP? Perhaps the Hyperspeed Pursuit set we've seen is the final. But who knows about the impulse sets... I'm also happy to see someone else who loves UFO. I've heard the theme dissed a lot, and I could never understand why. I think they're some badass sets and it's the only Space theme of which I've been driven to collect every set. I think I'm still missing one or two of the smaller sets, but they're not too hard to find cheaply.
  5. Let me just remind you of something. This is Schwartz we're talking about... lol
  6. Wait until you see what happens in the next comic...
  7. Perhaps that cyclops guy is Squidman. ;-)
  8. Oh, absolutely! Oh, And... Meteor Madness II (Part 8): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=511730
  9. This typical. I was actually considering buying your Corvette and KITT models. The 'Vetter isn't available in the states and KITT isn't available due to bricks being out of stock. The bricks ALWAYS seems to be out of stocks on LDD models I see and like. Can't even download the instructions! KITT gives an error message.

  11. I hate when I post a comic with a typo! As a journalist, public relations specialist and writer, I'm appalled. This storyline has only just begun... Only a few might have caught it, but the TARDIS has been there since they arrived. It's just a cameo, though.
  12. Meteor Madness II (Part 6): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=508910
  13. Meteor Madness II (Part 5): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=508045 I still shoot a lot of the photos at my Dad's place, but I have figured out how to get decent shots at the apartment. The whole Advent calendar was taken here.
  14. It wasn't supposed to be out! You (and we) lucked out!
  15. I feel bad because I suggested it was the Gold Heist set, when it now seems obvious that it's Hyperspeed Pursuit. Not that anyone listens to me, lol.
  16. Well, if no one buys them, the seller should get the message that the price is too high.
  17. Meteor Madness II (Part 4): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=507496
  18. I don't think kids have changed. In the '80s, Transformers, G.I. Joe and He-Man were very popular, and they all involved violence. And before that, kids played Cowboys & Indians, etc. It's just the ways boys play. And seriously, you don't think a lot of kids played with the very first Classic Space and Castle sets and created battles?
  19. LOL, you're right, he's not very squid-like.
  20. I don't like the idea that Lego would patronize kids, either. But could it simply be a matter of changing tastes? The toy market is different than when Lego was selling sets in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Many toylines are supported by fiction and kids have come to expect their toys to have that story behind them. No one's saying kids need to have a pre-defined fiction, but I suspect toy companies think they need to add that in order to compete with all the other toylines out there. And really, Space Police III is using the same cops-and-robbers theme that has been popular with kids for over a century. Even the first two Space Police themes had that. The only difference is that LEGO is emphasizing more individuality among the minifigs with different designs and creating more specific "scenes" with some of its sets. But they still leave it pretty vague aside from some names and a little backstory. There's still plenty of room for kids to use their imaginations.
  21. Tease? Does that mean we're not getting that torso in blue? :(
  22. It could be. Perhaps the "gold theft" plot is present in multiple sets.
  23. I don't think we'll get back to the feel of Classic Space unless LEGO introduces another exploration theme. Space Police III seems to be very much what the last two Space Police themes were, only with more varied villains. I think LEGO is doing a great job recreating classic themes from the past but giving them more defined notions of personality and conflict. I'm excited to see more! Maybe, but do we really know if that's his face or not?
  24. Meteor Madness II (Part 3): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=506365 I've also posted my analysis of the new Space Police pix!
  25. Here are my thoughts, as posted on my comic's home page: FINALLY! A couple of pictures of Space Police III have surfaced, thanks to Eurobricks member mania3, who snapped pix of a banner on display at LEGOLAND in California. The pix just give a taste of what could be the 5971 Gold Heist set, but it's a taste I like! The Space Police ship pictured is sleek, predominately white and has a trans-blue canopy. It reminds me very much of the Exploriens color scheme, and Futuron before that. While the Space Police minifigs have yet to be seen, you can just vaguely see one through the cockpit canopy. It seems to have a face similar to the classic minifig smiley face. It's hard to make out, but there might be a modular jail on the back of the ship that's translucent blue and cylindrical. The Classic Space-style logo returns, depicting a ship shooting around a star (much like the one used in Star Justice). What really shines is the alien ship that is shown. It's a space-faring version of a mobster's black Cadillac from the 1950s, and it's spilling gold bricks as it is being chased by the Space Police! There appear to be magnetic canisters on the back of the car. I can't wait to see more of these, and to own some! The alien who is driving the car is also shown, and he looks as cool as heck, wearing a black flight uniform (if that's actually the final design, we're not sure) and a skull mask that resembles the face of the Sycorax from Doctor Who. It's not clear if this is the infamous Squidman from the 5969 Squidman Escape set or a different alien. Finally, it's official that this theme is called Space Police and not Space Patrol. It's about time that real Space returned! Sycorax: And the Sycorax's helmet looks kinda like the UFO aliens!
