Yowza! Well, this year looks good thus far! The Naboo one looks better than expected and that MTT is AMAZING (Even though everything's misplaced, as Yoda said). For some reason, I'm also having a newfound liking for the city and technic sets. The city trucks' resemblance to the real trucks are phenominal! The garbage truck is my favorite of the lot. Mars still looks like I could get more used to it. I'm not really digging the alien's design, but I guess it's not too shabby. Castle on the other hand, looks simply splendid. There's just so much to like about this line! The dragon finally looks awesome too! Exo-Force doesn't look to sharp now. I somewhat like that massive blue, white and orange mech, but the rest could use some work. Even though I understand that the golden temple is meant to be a radio transmitter of sorts (my speculation), at least they could have given those things walls! But all in all, a good show by LEGO! Thanks for the photos! Oh, by the way. Anyone else notice the stickers on the Star Wars sets? :'-(

Hey man, happy belated birthday! Glad you got tonnes of LEGO! Lobster attack is a fantastic set, and I'm glad you now own it! Anyhoo, happy birthday, my four-armed Gungan rebel cyborg friend! ;-)

Perhaps it's "preliminary pricing"? Yeah, I just made that term up. :-P Toywiz has some pretty whacky prices going BOTH ways. Wasn't too long ago they changed the pricing of some POTC products from extremely high to extremely low to moderately overpriced. Kinda like what they did with those spinning battle tops they had 3-4 years back. And with some Transformers, though the name escapes me at the moment. But if the past is any indicator, this Hogwarts set will most likely be another add-on, like the 2004 one and Dumbledore's office was to the 2001 school. Perhaps it's a very small addition?

It is! It's actually a giant fist, but with a closer look, you can see that the hand has texture like that of the Bikini Bottom fish. It's a nerdy nitpick, really. X-D

YES! Harry Potter is going back to the building sets with trap doors and other gizmos! Spongebob sounds interesting too, though the Chum Bucket isn't exactly the... Uh... Most aesthetically pleasing building out there... It's a bucket with a giant fish fin holding the handle. But it'll be interesting to see how it turns out! Only gripe with this is that there still isn't any news of any Avatar sets. Yeah, yeah, I know it's too early to make the call, but still! But looking at what they've offered thus far and the confirmation of all these new lines, that NYC Toyfair is going to be AWESOME. We are going to be innundated with new sets! BOOYA! *sing*

Happy seriously belated birthdays, guys! WHAO! 8-

There's two versions. Single disk includes movie and bloopers while the second one has an entire second disk of AMAZING special features. It's only $5CAN more too!

I hear ya, Gyl. This report is making me pretty nervous, especially since LEGO hasn't officially announced where their "call center" will be. I sent in a cheque for a replacement part December the 22nd and I just got it back with a label that says "Box closed, unable to forward, return to sender." Of all the rotten luck! :'-( I really hope Shop@Home doesn't change much. They've done a stellar job thus far and if they torpedo it now, well... Guess this is the beginning of the end for LEGO's stellar service. :-(
-
Speaking of which, is the Starfighter cockpit larger than the normal one? I can't really tell, but it seems longer in order to accomidate for Kit Fisto. Anyhow, excellent showing by LEGO! The Naboo Starfighter is one of my favorite designs and all these sets are amazing! Bravo, LEGO! With those army builders and these sets, LEGO Star Wars feels stronger than ever!

Happy belated birthday! Glad to hear you got the Pirates DVD! It's a really good movie. If you don't mind me being a nosey brat, which one didja get? X-D Anyhoo, may this year be blessed with joy and good fortune!

2006, because the sets had a sense of completeness about them. They really hid the Knight's Kingdom parts well! I also really liked all the non-mech sets such as the Sonic Phantom (Though I'll never like that trigger on that thing), the fortress and definately the Striking Venom. HOWEVER. I love the first wave of 2007's offerings more than most of 2006's sets. I have much love for every single set in 2007's individual mech sets, most notably the Iron Condor, Blade Titan, Shadow Crawler and the Claw Crusher. They're works of ART. If I was a few year younger, I'd purchase the Iron Condor right off the bat. The mechs may have been skinnier, but as the Blade Titan shows, it can work. Shame that the Sky Guardian looks like the Apollo spacecraft with appendages, but I'll still buy it, gosh darn it! Second wave that we just saw pictures of, I'm not too impressed. They're not great, but most aren't poor. Hope there's more!

Ah, there we go! Thanks hinckley! Yowza. Yep, guess it is a detachable backpack, as others have already said. While I don't plan on getting any, Hayato's mech looks like the best of the lot. It really stands out for rather obvious reasons. You simply do not mess with that thing! Now that I've given it a day to let the shock pass, here's some revised thoughts. While I agree with everyone that the temple thingy is nice, I have to say that the new "Sonic Phantom" isn't overly impressive. It just seems like they took the standard mini spaceship and stuck turbines on it. When they brought out the Sonic Phantom, it was a great idea because it was so unique. Turbines for wings? Awesome! But this doesn't really intrigue me as much. The temple is great, though I really hope there's an interior considering the somewhat simple outside look. I'm liking that oversized robot cart even less now. But since I'll be kabobed and flabeed if I don't provide "constructive critisism", here's my idea. Since the thing opens up, they should have just scraped those mini-flyers and had a REAL bipedal mech that smells of evil. And have MecaOne pilot it! Of course, I'm not being realistic. But they should have at least a pair of upgraded neon-green Claw-Crusher frame mechs with upgraded features, just like how the Red Sentry in the Gate Assault set expanded upon the original Sentry design. Guess the real reason I'm not really "feeling" these sets is that there's a lack of mechs here. Especially in a theme that's based entirely around the premise of mechs.
-
My reaction is REALLY mixed. Okay, parts of me died when I saw some sets, and I suffered massive muscle spasms when looking at others, there were a few that made me leap from my chair. I'm no hardcore space fan, so my opinion could (and quite frankly, should) be taken with cratefuls of salt. First one stabbed me with a blunt object. And drew blood. If it was in Exo-Force in place of that horrid massive robot wheel cart, I'd give it a major thumbs up. But anything else, nay. There's just something so repulsive about it that I can't really put my hands on it. It just doesn't feel right, y'know? But as I said, put it into Exo-Force, and I'd deem it awesome. I literally have no words for the second one. While you could take some of the pieces and make one kick-big behind mecha dock with it, I see no other use. That plane looks like a Fisher-Price jet. The alien jet looks kinda funky, in either direction. It may be ugly because people expect it to be "LEGO Space", but it looks alot like the Minority Report ships. Give it a paintjob, stick a Alpha team member or a Spyrus one (Change paint-job accordingly) and it's good to go as a solo set! I really like the forth, fifth and sixth sets. The forth is small, but it's nice! Oddly reminds me of the RoboForce flyer in the Robo Master set. The robot really fits the theme and can easily be converted into an exploration robot. I have no idea what those pods are, but overall, it looks nice. It's like a mini Space Station on wheels! If I was to explore Mars, I'd love to drive around in that thing! Though I'm sure the rover is a rehash from Life on Mars, we finally get something that's more suited for explorers. And that, I like! The drill tank is awesome, though the sheer existance of the Zamor launcher on it makes me cringe. Not really digging the air pumps either, unless it's used for transportation like the Life on Mars sets. The rest are somewhat eye-wretching. My main gripe about it is that it actually looks like Megabloks for some of the construction. 7692 doesn't look like it's even made of LEGO at all! I don't think I'll pick up many of these sets, though I will buy other 2007 offerings. I just hope these do well among kids though. I like the direction LEGO is going (Minifigs everywhere) and I DEFINATELY don't want this to mess it up for them! I loathed that "Back to the brick" era just a few years back. There were no small minifig sets! I LIKE MY MINIFIGS! :'-(

Sweet mother of peril! Well, this year's sets certainly are interesting! The first one looks nice, though I'm sure LEGO could have done a better job than just recycle Hikaru's mech frame. That giant Robot wheel thing is certainly frightening, but it isn't exactly a looker. I really liked the Striking Venom because it had legs, so even if the bridge colapsed, there was a good chance it could grab hold of something and stay alive. With this massive SUV, all the human squad needs to do is to either knock it over from the side or detonate the bridge. Those small robot vehicles don't look so great either, but hey, these are prototypes! The second one is definately a departure from typical Exo-Force sets, especially with the lack of mechs. Looks nice, and I really hope those swords are the more shiny kind rather than just a dull tan colour. While I don't dig the first two as much, I like the third one. Though it is one massive behemoth of jet engines and guns, they do a pretty good job with it. Even though I'm *still* trying to find out where the arms are, it looks pretty good overall. So much for Hayato lacking a weapons-dominant mech! :-D

Merry belated Christmas, friends! I've been a bit too caught up with all the festivities and such, but it's all over now. :'-( I didn't get any LEGO, but I did manage to pick up a few impressive sets yesterday at Boxing day! Guess all is good after all! Totally awesome MOC there, oo7! I feel sorry for those naughty kids though. They never knew what hit them! :-D

X-O Blackout! Brawl! Prime! Bumblebee! I'm with Brain on this one. This movie looks AWESOME. (Because I'm a shallow, shallow teenager who is highly amused by tank-chucking action X-D )

Kinda see what angle you're taking there, Kynok. But for me, there's good repetitive and bad repetitive. Let's take Avatar for example. Simple basic "structure" in both seasons. Got to get to place "a", travel there, meet interesting people, character development, lead-up to climax and then all out, full throttle, no holds barred finale. Yes, they invent stuff sometimes, but within reasonable limits. Currently, Bionicle (for me) falls into the latter catagory or repetitive. It lacks all the crucial elements that adds universal "sticky" value to it. The "character development" is generic at best and the plot's become pretty cookie cutter shaped. The climax often comes too quickly and extremely underwhelming. Take 2006's ending. Vezon and spider beats down Piraka as if they were rag dolls. Inika charge in and they too get beaten down. Vezon laughs in typical villian glating scene. Jala pulls out Axonn's miracle plot device and singlehandedly stops Vezon. Climatic? Not really. It happened all within one comic. And it wasn't exactly riveting either. While the art was better than in previous comics, it went along the lines of this. Toa fire generic power beams at Vezon. Vezon fires gerneric power beam at Toa. Repeat and stir. What I liked about 2001-2003 was the style it was written in. It's difficult to say what it was exactly, but it made the Toa feel human. I've said this BILLIONS of times, but I guess I'll have to reitterate my points. There was character development. We got to see inside each and every Toa. Each comic was there to build up on the plot, adding REAL twists and turns, such as Lewa's capture. That fight between Onua and Lewa was incredible. It wasn't just "he saw friend and freed himself". There was a fight. There was intriguing dialogue. And in the end, the solution came from within, which really made the entire thing worth the effort of watching. As for the storyline, it was so simple. Simplicity is a good thing. 6 Toa. 1 evil. Island is at stake. Yeah, it's simple, but personality made it so much more "deep". That one evil didn't have dozens of named lieutenants. He was mysterious (No bodily form) and his power was intangible. Nobody knew what he was truly capable of. Not even us. As for Toa, that was simple too. There were 6. We now have millions. You can argue more is better, but not for Bionicle. Since the creation of Metru-Nui, we've been introduced to so many Toa that we don't even know who is who. In 2001, we knew who our heroes are and we could even call out their masks by NAME. They had dynamic personalities. Each comic revealed something new to us. Now? ALL the Toa teams have static personalities. They can be slotted into generic stereotypes. The "brooding" one, the "angry" one, the "wise" one, the "joker". Sound familiar? Those are the personalities of all the new Toa teams since Metru. So as you can see, I'm not asking for constant rehashes of the 2001 saga here. I'm asking for the 2001-2003 STYLE of writing. One villian with unlimited potential, 6 Toa who we learn more and more about with each passing saga, and character development (Of heroes and Matoran. Exposing mysterious villian is a big no no).

*sad* Grevious, I think YOU need to review both my own and YOUR OWN posts. I don't believe I ever said some of the things you quoted me on, but noticing the tag hanging out there, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and think you just made an error with the quote tags. (You wouldn't believe how many times I've done it myself) I see you've obviously missed out on the past 4+ pages of this topic in which you yourself may have been involved with. See, my point is that in Eurobricks, there's continuity. We read the posts that have been previously made by the author. I honestly hope this is the very LAST TIME I have to say this, but this isn't BZP. It's not nessesary to copy and paste your previously stated arguments as a lead into something you're saying. Our threads read like a book, not some wretched collage of ideas. It's a simple DIFFERENCE OF STYLE. We're comparing 2007's storyline to older ones. And if I'm not mistaken, the title of this thread is, and I quote in massive bold letters: Until we start talking about robotic sheep or posting links to trailers to "Rocky Balboa", then we're not "wildly off topic", as you put it. I'll do this for the sake of repetition. Eurobrick threads read like BOOKS. You don't see Hemmingway's "Old Man and the Sea" explicitly recapping events from, persay, Chapter 1 in Chapter 2, do you? I don't know about my fellow Eurobrickers, but I take the time to read the previous page of comments, if not the entire thread. Sure, we live in a hustle and bustle society, but it's good to take time to admire the finer things in life. I'm telling you as a fact, reading discussions here bring new light into any average person's day. Lord forbid that one day we have to repeat ourselves over and over again just to get a point across. Then we would have truly reached a point of no return. But, If you like to like to read at face value because it's too long to read the past pages of the thread (I feel your pain, dial-uppers, and even fellow DSLers! And fellow students with exams!), I've got a real treat for you. I have the rare, EXTENDED edition of his post! Well, not really. But I've mashed up Admiral's related posts into one simple, easy to understand post. Hope this helps! :-) The mash-up isnt exactly as glorified as the Admiral put it (That's lack of context for ya), but it gets the point across. HE NO LIKEY 2007. PERIOD. And as a final nitpick: I (Hopefully all of us too) get the point. If you post it, then it's generally assumed it's by you. That is, unless you quoted some noted scholar's opinion without referencing... Which means one thing! Lawsuits galore! Oh, and I totally agree with you, Darkness. Simply put, there appears to be no limit to this other than the fact it's underwater. Other than that, it's free game. Not to sure if they're closing it up or not, but if they do, 2008 will be a year to remember. Or so we hope. In terms of storyline, it seems GregF could use some new ideas people. That's the only way to go if you want to keep Bionicle running for a long, long time. I mean honestly. An underwater city that's identified mainly by a giant air bubble? Kinda reminds me more of the new Aqua Raiders than Bionicle. Crossovers, anyone? ;-)

Mindstorms videos
KMOI replied to Jipay's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
:-D That's hilarious! Especially that guy who bolted after thinking he shattered the glass. Say, does the NXT actually possess that kind of strength? Also, better hold back on the test, Alex, I don't think the NXT is waterproof. ;-) -
For the luvva... Ravensburg has every right to post. If I'm not mistaken, there's no requirement to love Bionicle in these topics. His opinion, though simple, is valid. And yes, it is on topic. He's just saying Bionicle's moved in the wrong direction recently. That's his opinion. If you don't like it, then fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Unlike BZPower, there's no requirement to love Bionicle here. We can critisize it however we please. And I don't really see how your disclaimer is valid any more. You just pit-roasted Ravensburg saying that all of his posts in this topic are useless. In my eyes, his posts are anything but useless. He's pretty well much the wake-up call that Bionicle needs. If you take the time to look through the previous pages, you'll see all our points. I'm not going to take the time to rewrite all 4+ pages of it, so you'll have to explore it on your own. I've said it once and I'll say it before. We respect the Bionicle fan's views and we leave them be. We don't attack them by saying their praises may lack no weight or are "pointless". We expect the same treatment when we share our gripes. This is Eurobricks, not BZP. Anyhow, I'm kinda digging Nocturn. This was more along the lines of what I expected for the canister sets, considering the simple leg and arm structure. Since it's at another price point, I'll skip out on this one along with the other Barraki. With the recent photos of the Pridak, it seems too far gone for any hope of help. Oh well! Here's to hoping that the Toa Mahri look better. *Prays for the Mahri to be upgrades of the original 6*

Humor comes in many forms, my friend! And sometimes, in proper grammer! Y'never know. :-D Anyhoo, I can't really see how one can customize the launcher, persay. There aren't an abundance of peg "holes". The only one I'm thinking of is the one that attatches the launcher to the hand, so I guess you could make a really awesome sting-ray or a shield if you combine two of them. Aside from that, however, I don't see too much potential. Better have a more "professional" opinion though. I'm not a brilliant builder. :-/

Looks like I'm going to have to adopt hinckley's signature. You clearly missed the point. I was JOKING. Using extremes is used to achieve a POINT for the sake of having IMPACT. But since you've chosen to take a serious take on it, might as well explain why in retrospect, it may not be so far fetched. All of the canister sets from the Visorak has had some sort of projectile weapon involved. We even got a machine launcher with the Inika. We even dipped into "assault rifle" territory with Jovan's modified Zamor launcher. Now we have crossbows which fling miniture cephalopods. Just look at the focus groups quote from GregF himself. Focus groups want bigger weapons. And it's not like bigger weapons mean melee type weapons. We're talking projectiles. Neo-Halo? Nope, not yet. But like life, you never know wait waits around the corner. Let's just hope focus groups never see this :-D : http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/6214/humming4nr1.jpg And yes, Ehlek is great for spare parts. Really like the use of multi-pieced spines (Great for foliage) and viking horns (Can be used for just about anything)

Aww. Now I know why you still have enough parts to build all those incredible castles and such. :-P Anyhoo, WOW! I never really got a chance to get reply to this topic as I'm still blown away by this MOC. It's flawless! The house, tree and waterfall are simply stunning. The attention to the details of the interior and exterior of the house really boggles my mind! Same goes for the tree, cave moss and that little wooden bridge! The waterfall really knocks me around for a loop. I've never seen so many transparent blue pieces in one place before! And the cave! Now that's stunning! I still can't understand how you put it together! I mean, it's not like those cave ceilings are entirely smooth. You've even included all the jagged rocks! Bravo! There's just so much to this I like that I could go on for miles on end. Fantastic piece of work, Norro! Your creation brings tears to my eyes. :'-)
-
o_o :'-) My word! That is truly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen! Your MOC brings tears to every Avatar fan (But mostly this one)! Your attention to detail is absolutely mondboggling! The trees, Monk Gyatso (Aang's dead mentor), the scores of dead Fire nation soldiers and firebenders are incredible! I also love the details on the building. There's no praise that I can share that will do it justice! You should get hired for the LEGO Avatar team, because this is better than anything we've been offered this year! I'd buy it in a second! Really funny review, by the way! That comic with the misunderstood Firebender was jokes. :-D
