  1. I didn't see this posted earlier and I sincerely hope this hasn't been posted, but I was checking out Brickshelf a few minutes ago and I saw some relieving news. Ladies and gentlemen, Brickshelf is here to stay! But with some changes. I'm crying manly tears of joy. :'-)
  2. Wowsirs. 8-
  3. ONLY way? Take a look at the original Toa. There's virtually no armour present on that thing and as for the arms, they're rather skinny compared to what we see these days. Giant gaps? At least there WERE good Toa combiners. Nowadays, combiners are just random animals that have some crazy whacky backstory. Besides, as I said. You want no giant gaps? Get a Gundam. There's CLEARLY no gaps in that thing. Or try Marvel Legends. Or Transformers. As for bulky, you pretty well much missed Ravendorn's entire point. He said overall look. Just look at the originals and what we have today. Having a FEW bulky series of "Toa" are understandable, but when the entire teams looks like they've overdosed on steriods year after year after year? The whole abstract "skeleton" islander look was what really brought me to Bionicle. Compared to other mecha series, it brought a fresh breath of life to my otherwise dull view that robots had to be bulky. It was this and more that made Bionicle truly worthy of my time. Oh wells, guess things change. Time to jump the burning ship!
  4. You ought to charge admission for people to view such a magnificent piece of work! :-D I was cruising around on Brickshelf when I saw your creation and needless to say, I was blown away! Little did I know, you were here all this time! Well, your creation has converted me into a Pirates fan. Arrr, matey!
  5. I hope you don't mind me chipping into this topic! I've been kinda sitting from the sidelines, but I kinda feel the need to pipe up here. Even if I'm not a veteran like most of you, I'd like to present the "outsider's" view! I completely agree with Yoda and Asuka. I mean sure, 10,000 units may seem like a small number, given the amount of hairy, unethical scalpers who are likely to tear open boxes just to resell poor C3P0 to make a pretty penny. But when you think about it, it's not entirely out of the question for LEGO to produce more! LEGO isn't a company that generally likes to tick people off. I mean sure, they don't grant our every wish (I'm still waiting for new Avatar sets!) and whim at times, but they do a pretty good job of it. Adding onto Yoda's examples, I've seen LEGO's willingness to give people what they want through the Vahi mask for Bionicle. To those who are unfamiliar, this once highly sought after mask was only avaliable through the bus tours during selected summers. As such, alot of people weren't able to get these, given the route. Years after, they released the Vahi through various marked Vahki sets in Targets all over the US. The result? The Vahi prices online took a tumble. Whether or not LEGO cared about the market value, many people were happy, including me. Morris isn't being ignorant here, but rather, blissfully optimistic. Given the demand and amount of complaints about the distributition, I wouldn't doubt it if they released another batch due to popular demand. Just look at the Legends, the Clone battle packs, the new blasters, the magnets, the Vahi, the Pick-a-brick and so much more! If there's one thing I've learned in my short time on this massive rock we call Earth, it's that LEGO isn't like other toy companies. They wait, they listen and most importantly, they act on what they hear! Optimism on!
  6. I was cruising around Brickshelf (Yes, again), and a certain little modificaiton caught my eye. Actually, it caught it, dragged it and showed it what awesomeness truly is! I thought you guys might enjoy this! In what can only be described as "Moko does it again", here's his super-articulated Devestator robot! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=256916
  7. Seems like LEGO is really going at it with the updates! The real battle for the Golden City is finally underway with some really neat surprises in the comics! Hitome makes her fighting debut alongside Hayato in the Golden Guardian. The battles are getting more entertaining to watch and the end leaves a little sneak peak into 2007's newest sets (Which we've seen). Well, what are you waiting for? Go for it already! ;-) http://exoforce.lego.com/en-us/Comics/default.aspx
  8. Agreed. I'm just shocked senseless by thing thing. And not in the good way either. For once, I'm actually at a loss for words! I don't like the Mahri at all and this is definately not helping my views of Bionicle these days. I guess the only thing that somewhat redeems it is the massive array of weapons in the "vehicle" (That IS a vehicle, right?), but otherwise, this looks wretched.
  9. I resent that. Avatar is by FAR one of the very best cartoons out on the market currently. Its intricate and highly addictive storyline combined with absolutely stunning animation has drawn crowds from all over, ranging from children to adults. It's unique, it's not a dub and is a visually stunning rollercoaster. But if you're looking for guns and projectile based weapons, you won't find it here. But if you have a taste for some extravagant landscapes, riveting battle sequences and prodigious characters, than Avatar is most certainly for you. See, when you're watching Avatar, you're not watching a cartoon. You're watching an epic. Thing about Avatar is, it's a very deep and serious show with some genuinely funny moments scattered all over the place. That's perhaps why Nick doesn't advertise it as much. Compared to its other shows, Avatar stands out in stark contrast in both style and theme. Avatar has incredible potential for great sets. Unfortunately, LEGO hasn't tapped into 98% of it. Within the past season, we've been shown an enormous variety of simply stunning designs ranging from buildings to costumes that I personally think would be stunning when converted into LEGO. It would really add to not only the Castle theme, but also add an Asia theme, continuing where Johnny Thunder left off! Anyhoo, the main reason why the Avatar LEGO line hasn't been that is that most Avatar fans don't even know they exist! I talked to a friend recently and she didn't know at all. Also, the price tags on the current line of sets are pretty hefty to say the least. Heck, even an advid fan like myself can't or won't cough up enough cash for those things. I can always Bricklink the figs though! :-D
  10. Hey everyone! I just decided to take a break from my studying (One more exam left, woo hoo!) to check out what's new and happening on Brickshelf. Lo and behold, I find this! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=249192 I was just blown away! It's actually a fairly stable build for a SNOT construction, which just adds to this masterpiece. Thought you mecha fans might enjoy this! :-) PS: I've been away from EB for about 2 months, so if Brickshelf finds aren't allowed to be posted any more, my sincerest apologies!
  11. I'm afraid I have no clue as to the disk launcher, as I don't actually own one myself. Sorry! Anyhow, as for the video... That animation is as slick as can be! Good ol' Ghost never fails to please me. I really like how they paid extra attention in noting how these are mechs, and that movement isn't as smoothe as normal human movement. I love the co-op tactics at the beginning of the clip, showing off how combined, the Blade Titan and Sky Guardian are truly a force to be reckoned with. Thanks for the find!
  12. Meh, I understand that policy! Besides, at least Eurobricks (I think) is in good standing with LEGO and they understand. (From what I've seen in the past) That or we have some AWESOME negotiators here. :-) Anyhoo, words fail me at this point. I'll let the "foaming mouth guy" do the talking for me: Image credit goes to rufftoon of Avatar fanart fame That Cafe Corner is mind-blowingly awesome! Sure, no interior, but that's why it's LEGO! I'm DEFINATELY tempted to buy it!
  13. KMOI

    Exo book

I don't see what's wrong with that, considering how the Bionicle Atlas is written by the "Orders of Mata Nui" to aid future "Toa" on their quest. Roleplaying never hurt! Besides, it's nice to see them write in perspective! :-) Anyhoo, aazz09 of Brickshelf has posted some photos here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=238193 The art looks good! Glad they did include the Silent Strike, though that photo of the Sky Guardian is straight out of the recent LEGO magazine comic.
  14. Maybe the one there too is an imposter? Who knows? There are some really good fortunetellers out there! X-D Someone actually brought this up before, and here was my response: The Piraka were a group of professional Toa-hunters. But Toa Nuva were so much more than just normal, run-of-the-mill Toa. And when the clashed, the Toa Nuva went out without even a wimper. I expected this to be the battle to end ALL battles. I expected part of Voya-Nui to be blown into oblivion from the raw might of the Toa Nuva's untamed power. Instead, we never got to see it. The Toa Nuva suddenly lacked the essential powers that made them "Nuva." No more extreme element usage, no more extreme unchecked power of the masks. Sure, the Piraka could beat the daylights out of a run-of-the-mill Toa, but the Nuva were insane when they were introduced. Sure, the Toa Nuva would be caught offguard. But so should the Piraka. I expected BOTH sides to limp off the battle field. I expected a battle that would literally tear the island apart, because that's just how powerful the Nuva were when introduced. I'm also sure Greg read Infinate Crisis. Bionicle comics are distributed by DC Comics and even with that aside, all of the comic book/fictional world authors have read that event. Just thank the LEGO execs for not allowing full comics dedicated to power-up scenes. :-P As for Greg's little "the future of Bionicle will kill your childhood" comment, here's what I think. If those don't pass, I predict... BIONICLE CIVIL INFINITE CRISIS WAR! Just replace Iron-Man with Jala, Captain America with Matoro, throw in the Karzhini as Emo!Superboy-Prime and for the last touch of horrible childhood destruction, have the fabric of time get shredded, so that billions of incarnations of Toa will suddenly appear, thus fulfilling the canister set requirement. Oh, and for most shock value, someone's going to be decapitated, simply to amp up the dark and gritty factor. ;-)
  15. Well, I haven't made many custom minifigs, though I have made modification to non-traditional minifigs, such as Grevious here: http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...indpost&p=25900] After being completely let down by the official fig, I decided to mod it to have the legs be more fitting of the menacing Confederate leader. It looks more like the version from Clone Wars rather than the movies, but I hope you all enjoy this! Enjoy! :-)
  16. Sweet mother of brick! That is an amazing mech you made! I absolutely love how you've made it so they can separate into two different components, and still, the combined mode is absolutely stunning! This is by far one of the very best MOCs I have seen done in the Exo-Force style. The storyline also fits right in with the official one too! If only this was the real robot mech this year... *wub*
  17. Both of you have made some really good points, and I agree with most. However, I'll cater so some of your points, Visorak: Books, to me, were a massive pain. See, I don't have time to read children's books anymore, and especially ones with brainless action. The so called plot "twists" aren't really that revolutionary. In fact, most have been championed by superstar comic book writers at Marvel and DC decades before Greg even TOUCHED Bionicle. In terms of complexity, yes, it is complex. But in ALL the WRONG ways. How many teams of Toa do we have now? Thousands? And what about that insane guild of Dark Hunters which apparently numbers over 500? And do we REALLY need to be aquainted with 500 variations of PEWKU CRABS? As for bringing back the Toa Nuva, I agree with the big cheeses. Greg should have listened and let the originals die. They started out as insanely powered figures (See Gali nearly submerging the entire Ga-Koro underwater). And they became WIMPS. I've said this BILLIONS of times, and if you want to see what I've said as examples, feel free to scroll into my past posts. Here's my issue with this. Isn't it more fun to have a NORMAL matoran with the heart of a hero? Just like MNOLG1. The small guys could change the future. But now? No. Small guys need to get upgraded, THEN they can change the future. What I liked about the Matoran is that they proved that even normal people can make a difference. They can shape the future. They aren't helpless. But now? They all got to get upgraded to be of some importance. While the 2006 Voya matoran tried to do that, their mini-story was reduced nothing afterwards. See Infinate Crisis (all of them), and you'll get where his ideas are coming from. Watch Avatar and you'll see how elements are REALLY done. Disagreed. 2001 had Toa pitted against massive mechanical monsters that were far larger and stronger than themselves. They had to use wits, mask powers and elements to achieve victory. Heroes could be captured and turned evil via corrupted mask. And they had a little matter to deal with that we call defending civilians. Oh, and how about fighting a villian with NO BODY? Rarely seen ever before. 2002 introduced swarms. All had elemental powers. All of them were strong. Seeing the Toa stuggle to adapt was a sheer marvel. In the comics, you could see each of the characters actually interact, as opposed to the generic "hero banter" of Metru onwards. 2003 had the Toa Nuva losing their powers COMPLETELY. Watching them fight without them was entertaining, though I still think the writers completely forgot about the "Nuva" part of the Nuva masks (They could share powers with those nearby). 2004 is introduced your fabled "great characters". Sure, they didn't talk, but it was a start. And for the record, I thought this saga was HORRIBLE, as Lewa suddenly went treespeak and Takanuva was a walking talking flashlight. And Makuta being defeated by a LACROSS BALL? UNGH. 2005 was a nice touch, though the storyline was nuts in the beginning. (They were fighting a MUTANT WEED for the first 5 months?) Loved the medium sized sets though. Anyways, from 2005 onwards was simply this. Introduce villian, upgrade secondary character, upgraded characters pwn villians, upgraded characters get owned by titans. Upgraded characters get smart. Upgraded characters win via convinently placed plot device. Cut to new island. Play for 2 years, remix and repeat. I'm sorry, but I honestly do not see how 2005+'s storylines have been unique in any way. Darker? It takes alot more than someone breaking someone else's arm or throwing people through walls to impress me. 2005 got it right. Socialistic regime, and how to fight back both the rulers and villians. Now THAT interested me. That's a massive generalization there. You want me to say what it was like for 2004 onwards? Toa fight in plain sight, Toa almost lose, Toa beat villain, repeat. What was nice about 2001-2003 is the stuff that happened BEFORE the final showdown. The conversations between Toa in the comics were oscar-worthy when compared to the witless, emotionless hero-banter of Metru and onwards. As for GregF's incredibly ignorant comment about the storyline complaints, I have this to say. Fanfiction IS NOT CANON.
  18. Thanks for the larger pics! Anyhoo, I'm not quite an advid follower of Star Wars, but hasn't most of those sets been made now? The Catina set has definately been made, including a Sand-trooper on that giant sea-green animal thingy. The Starfighter ring is coming out this year and the Destroyer Droid came out with the first round of Technic Episode 1 sets. I would sure welcome a Rancor as an extention to the Jabba's palace set though!
  19. Oh, don't get me wrong, I totally believe in faith! Faith is what keeps me going every day, believe it or not. Without it, I would simply be nothing. I think you cut out the context to what I said, and that is that I have no more faith in Bionicle. As for storyline, I disagree. LEGO is about building, yes, BUT. Bionicle is one of the few lines to actually carry out a consistant storyline. And that's what made it special. Not just because it existed, but because it was intriguing. With all this stuff about SINKING Voya-Nui and chain-guns for sheer kick value, I don't believe in the storyline anymore. As for the bullying situation, the last one was in Grade 6 because everyone in our grade became friends from Grade 7 onwards. Well, with an exception of a few. But that cleared up after we entered Grade 9. Anyhoo, yeah, mine started out like yours, but it took a complete turn after I got absolutely fed up with the whole thing. Let's just say "people had to restrain me from the bully" is a good way to put it. X-D
  20. GAK! This padawan has much to learn. X-D Hmm, three different combiner sets? Well, it could be like those Toa Metru combo packs like they had. Or perhaps it's one of those set and "foam weapon" ones? Most interesting indeed. I don't recall a single year in the past where there was more than one major combiner set. Or perhaps it's some massive City combo package? Afterall, they do like to package some small vehicles together. They did that with Insectoids and Rock Raiders back in the day!
  21. NOW I understand why you sound so agitated at times! Sorry, but I've never really understood that point of view, but I finally understand why you post the way you do. Everyone posts differently! Personally, if I find a topic that's interesting, I'll read all the posts before posting my own thoughts. Of course, if the topic is like 20 pages long, I'll skim the first 15, but I'll read the rest in depth. Of course, there rarely is a topic that I have found myself actually having to catch up on! My policy on posting is exactly the same as Ghoul's, as posting for the sake of having that counter go up just isn't right. I'll post if there's something I can add, or have a question about, or sharing points of view. As for style, I'm the exact opposite of lego2000. Perhaps it's just the way I've been brought up, but I think it's important to be true to who you are. I'm more or less of a pretty happy person who has a few sarcastic quips here and there, though I can get agitated at times. It's often reflected in the way I write, but I always try to sound either enthusiastic or neutral, simply because that's who I am! :-)
  22. I used to be known as "Kopaka Master of Ice", but I simply go by KMOI now. Tonnes easier! I officially joined Eurobricks back in March 2005, when there was this massive discussion on the ranks of clones. There were some things that needed to be sorted out, and there wasn't an answer. Hence, I stepped in and I've been addicted to EB since! I was a stalker at EB for quite a while though. I never joined, because back in those days, let's just say Bionicle wasn't nearly as accepted as it is today! That, and I didn't fit into the AFOL catagory. Still don't, but I try my best to be as mature as possible. Well, except for the off off-comment I make every now and then. ;-)
  23. I vaguely recall seeing a female stormtrooper in one of the comics, but it must have been a rebel in disguise. Augh! My memory fails me again! Anyhoo, my faves would have to be Boba Fett with all those decals, Darth Maul, young Obi-Wan (First version) and Grevious, but with a small leg mod that I gave him!
  24. But the question is, do we WANT Spider-Man 3 sets? I say yes. Even though Batman has some really insane vehicles, I still prefer Spider-man. If you look from the point of view that Spider-Man sets are "playsets", Batman ones are just those Mattel vehicles that they sell just off from action figures. Now you could argue that you could customize vehicles, but you can also customize buildings too! Let's face it. Even though we have a "City" theme, we haven't actually gotten a city set with buildings and skyscrapers for a very, very long time now. With Spider-Man sets, it gave a scene for our heroic armada of firemen and policemen to save. And when they were in trouble? Spidey swoops in and saves the day! The Spider-Man theme compliments the City theme, and that's why I thought it was a good diea. Another thing I loved about Spider-Man was the minifigs. I just loved the way they were done! From the classic Spidey suit to the Green Goblin's mask, everything was spectacular. Double sided heads that actually worked, Doc Oct's arms and the modern generic robbers and civilians really made it all worth the money for these sets.
  25. I think he's talking about "Drome". Personally, I loved Drome! The whole story to it made it enjoyable to both read and play. Now that there's really no theme, I haven't actually bought any of the sets (Mostly because I have the ones I like already). I think it's because there's not really a dedicated fan base for the line, seeing as how fans of it are also fans of other lines too. I think it's awesome, but doesn't exactly warrant a full site made for it. But if anyone sets up a site with all the original wallpapers and comics, then I'm in!
