  1. Love the barn and the added wind turbine is a huge plus for me. Also liked how you added in a pulley for lifting hay bales and other things to the loft of the barn.
  2. This is actually really really cool and envy this design. I don't think I will ever build a subway for my modulars, but putting in a light rail system down the middle of my streets will definitely be something I want to do in the future.
  3. If this had been true I would be all over this as I didn't start to collect the Modular buildings until 3 years ago and MS, CC and GG had all been discontinued already by then. I have since Bricklinked the GG and have 449 pieces for CC and 476 pieces for MS set aside so far. I would probably just buy the CC and keep Bricklinking the MS since I have about 40% of it already and I will be modifying it heavily as well.
  4. There you just replace them with the newer style windows and skip paying those crazy prices.
  5. I showed my wife these images and said, Hey honey I could turn the space of my office/studio into this instead. She just looked at me and said, "ummmmmmm........no.
  6. I like it and think it looks good in tan. The only area it looks a little out of place is the second floor windows and I think finding arches and the inverted slop pieces in a different color will be a huge benefit.
  7. After 3 years I have finally finished my GG, with a few modifications As you can see I used dark red bows instead of the blue and the wood pattern around the door. I actually plan on changing and meant to purchase the viking pattern when I ordered the last of my parts but it was forgotten. I will just have to wait till I get around to ordering more parts for my MS to get those viking print 1x4 tiles.
  8. I agree on that. If you try the orange brown masonry bricks you will get a better contrast from the corner 2x2 tiles.
  9. I just finished my DO the other day and while I was doing it I had my Go Pro 3 taking pictures and I created a time-lapse video of it and have it posted to my YouTube channel. Here is the link:
  10. With it taking 3 years to complete I don't have the numbers on how much it actually costed to acquire all of the parts, but I would guesstimate it around $350-400 in all.
  11. Been awhile since I have posted but just would like to say I have begun buying parts again on Bricklink for my GG and picked up a little of MS while I was at it. I started gathering parts for my GG 3 years ago and I am finally going to have it completed this week when the remaining 6 pieces that I thought I had but found they were not in my inventory of parts. Though between 3 years from the start and 3 moves and loss of just a few parts that I thought I had isn't too bad. I have a YouTube channel and I will post a video of about 1-2 minutes of my build and what changes I did since some parts were not cheap or a pain in the but to find. Now that I will have the GG this will give me 7/10 of the Modulars, I am now only missing CC, MS and PC. I do have 300-400 for CC and 300-400 for MS and was going to purchase the PC when I picked up the DO but the wife persuaded me not too saying it was fugly. I am sure over time I will be getting the PC in time but just not at the moment. What I really will be focusing my time on will be the MS first since it requires fewer parts and then the CC, then hope by then the PC hasn't been discontinued. I just have no desire in Bricklinking another building once GG, CC and MS are completed.
  12. The Haunted House and the Simpsons home are not modulars, they are just another branch of the Creator Expert line. Modulars have a certain design style of street, lamp post, individual levels that come off to expose the inside, connect together with technic pins at the base and so on. Modulars also don't open from a hinge on the side. I would say the Haunted House is the closest of these two to a modular building and has been modified by many to fit the modular style. Because it is not a modular I would imagine TLG doesn't see a need to keep it in the same $150-160 price range.
  13. Great job on the ride. The posting of all of these theme park rides recently has made me want to mess with LDD and build my own rides.
  14. Murphy bed -- mattress store Wedding ring -- Jewelry Store Croissant -- Bakery Wine -- Liquor Store
  15. I like to think of it not as spending money but showing the community what you are most passionate about with LEGO. Back in the day I enjoyed the Star Wars sets and I had/have many of the original sets, but I have since broken them all up and parted them out for parts to build the CC, GG and MS and the rest went to my kids to build with. A button would show people that I am passionate about Modulars. I think the modular community lacks in this area of recognition. I don't know how many other areas of LEGO that people are so willing to BL the parts just to get the missing sets. I have most of my GG BL'd and 1/3 of my CC and MS and now just waiting for some cash to finish BL'ing the rest. To me that shows passion and does take "time" and not just money to accomplish. Just my 2 Cents.
  16. A street car alone would not make it a modular building is true. But if you look at my previous post you will see I added to it by having the building where they are housed for repair or at night included into the set. That way you have the needed modular and the trolley is just the vehicle to the modular like the fire truck is to the FB. I live in the Salt Lake City area and we once had quite the trolly system here and they were housed in an area off of 700 east and 500 south. that location is now known as Trolly Square and is now used as a shopping center. I would show you pictures of the building but I don't have any of my own shots of the building just yet. You can google it if you want too. So adding a trolly to the modular line would not be hard to do as long as the trolly is looked at as the vehicle to its storage location. We now have LRT (TRAX) that runs all over the valley and 1 street car line. I love LRT and street cars and I would go nuts buying such a modular set if it was offered. I could easily see myself getting a minimum of 3 sets if it came out.
  17. Okay, I guess it is time for me to go out and get another PS as I am loving the sand blue pet shop section being 1 floor taller. Not sure I like the red house taller but the pet shop is a must. I would then use the rest of the parts to work on interiors and then part out for my Cafe Corner and Market Street that I need to finish building.
  18. I like your idea and I am going to expand on it a bit. I think the Modular line would do great with a San Francisco style trolly. Have a set that has a trolly, its garage on a 16x32 plate with a bit of track that is imbedded in a road way and I would be all over it like a fly on shit. If the 16x32 plate isn't big enough I wouldn't mind seeing a 24x32 plate made to allow a wide enough door for the trolly to enter in. If they did indeed put out a set like that I would definitely buy 2-3 to lay out the city streets with plenty of trolleys. I would also place all of the garages together for a larger building. With having a properly designed trolly and the cost of the street plates, LEGO would most likely need to have a smaller building to keep it in the same price point the rest of the line has. That is why I went with the 16x32 baseplate. As an AFOL the Modular line are my favorite LEGO sets and is the main reason I came out of the dark ages. I also happen to be big into architecture and city development and frequent a forum that fills that hobby. The Modulars allow me to not just geek out on LEGO but also geek out about building and designing my own city.
  19. IMO I don't see any reason why I need the instructions since there are multiple sources for getting them as a PDF file off the internet and building them from that instead. I actually have some instructions I would rather not have laying around and would sell or trade them for LEGO parts if I knew someone locally here in Utah that would do it. That was a statement and not trying to sell on this forum and do not request information about them via this thread, IM me instead if you are ultimately that curious. I am not a seller and have no plans to start. My progress on the GG I have been Bricklinking has come to a stop with less than 100 parts left to get. Once I get my hands on more burnable cash I will start up again but that will be a couple months.
  20. I have had similar ideas for 16x32 baseplate sized modulars and I actually sent an email to LEGO with the idea hoping it "might" get through. This was there response I received back on the 2nd of April. Dear Steven, Thanks for getting in touch with us. Your Modular building suggestions sounds great and we're happy you took the time to share your idea with us. You sound like you are an avid LEGO Fan. Your suggestions all make a lot of sense, and I am pretty sure it would be very beneficial for our fans. There a lot of things we take into consideration before we create and price a set. I know this might be difficult to hear, but at the moment we can’t accept suggestions about what fans want us to make for new LEGO® toys. I'm sure that this rule may seem rigid, especially for someone who simply has a great idea they wish to share with us. However, for legal reasons, we have to follow this policy to avoid confusion about the origin of LEGO toys. Our experts in Denmark work day and night dreaming up new LEGO sets, themes and toys. This means we might already be working on something like you've suggested. It sometimes takes years to plan everything from the first brick to the last. They have to test their ideas, figure out the best way to build them, get the pieces from the factory, work out what sort of box is needed and then find a way to get the new sets to all the shops in 130 countries. It’s quite a process. But we really do value suggestions from our fans so I’m happy to tell you we’re already working on a website that will let you share your ideas with us. You’ll also be able to admire the ideas of other LEGO fans and even get votes that could lead to making your idea a reality. When you have some time, check outLEGO.CUUSOO.com. I hope you’ll have some fun there and let your imagination run wild! We want to make sure we're doing a good job for you, so we always include the link to a four-question survey in our emails. Please tell us how we did today: (I removed the survey link) Please let us know if you need anything else. Happy building! In my email I not only suggested the 16x32 baseplate but also an inverted corner building. I would love to be able to do more than just square or rectangle blocks and an inverted corner would do nicely. Yes I could build one myself but I am currently not looking to doing my own MOC's and like to keep my little town as the way LEGO created it.
  21. My first set as a child was Christmas of 84 and it was one of the Fabuland sets. I still have the goat minifig, few parts of the car and some of the plates from the 1 level home. the plates for the home over the years have taken a beating and some were chewed on by a dog and were thrown away. But still nice to sift through my bins of parts that my kids now play with and still point out to them that this was part of my original set I received when I was 4 years old.
  22. My wife was watching this 4 year old a year back for a few hours a day. The damn kid found the 2 modulars that I had and totally wrecked them and mixed all of the parts together and then scattered them all over my room, hall way, bathroom and living room. I wanted to do more than ban that kid
  23. That has already been said will come out in June.

RoxYourBlox, Salt Lake City is doing there first official LEGO convention this year on May 2nd and 3rd and I would love to see your MOC's displayed if you are interested. Your ability for detail and figuring out how to accomplish your designs are easily in the top 1%. I have been watching your stuff for the past 2 years and love everything you make as they are all extremely well made. Here is a link to information about the convention. http://www.brickslopes.com If this gets even 30-40% of the attendance that our recent Comic Con had last week it will be highly packed and well attended convention. That comic con had over 100,000 attendees.
  25. It's like cargo container construction. I have seen some really nice real life buildings made out of cargo containers. There is a Starbucks a couple miles from where I live that is made out of 2 of them.
