  1. Here is the bottom section of the GG I have been working on. As you can see I opted for the Dark Red for the awning and I had some 1x4 Red Brown with wood print I am trying for around the doors. I am trying to decide if I will get the viking print or stay with the wood look. I actually like the way the dark red looks. At the moment I have not purchased any of the minifigs and when I do I am just going to find a seller that has them complete and buy them that way instead of sourcing out the individual parts. Right now I am perfectly fine with just the building and minifigs will come later. I posted some LDD screen shots of my changes to the balconies with the curved black fences for the front of my MS and went with black droid arms and black light sabers for the top floor balcony. I didn't like the look of the railing for the top balcony on the side of the MS as it looked like something from a 6-11 age set from the 80's that I grew up with as a kid. I also added sconces to the front of the MS on the side of the top balcony. Just didn't get the point of those gray parts that were pushed inside the headlight pieces. I am sure before I actually start ordering parts for the MS I will go through a few more changes to the LDD file. I still need to layout an interior and that might require me to move the stairs from the middle of each room. I also might open up the window spots on the back if they work with my interior design. Still debating on what exactly I want to do with the covered space. I am thinking of making it more patio space for the GG housing on the second floor and redo the 2nd floor of the GG as a kitchen/dining space with outside eating space. Then using the underneath part as more outdoor market space with produce and bakery.
  2. I am hoping that my last BL order comes in today and I will be able to do some more building this afternoon. I will put up more pictures with how much I can complete with it once I am done.
  3. Here is the GG with the Dark Red awning and the current changes I plan on doing to the Market Street. I wanted to change out the yellow planter boxes that are used for the MS with the new ones from PR but I don't think they are in LDD yet.
  4. Keep them coming I am looking forward to how the top looks.
  5. The hunted house has enough of the 1x1, 1x2, 1x4 and 1x6 Sand Green bricks but you will still need to purchase the 1x3 Bricks and the 1x2 with groove. The idea is to use 50 1x2 and 50 1x6 bricks to cover not using the 1x8 since those are way expensive. Yes you could spend the $170 on the Haunted House and feel like you saved money considering that if you actually purchased the 1x8 bricks those would cost $150 alone. Then once you figure in all of the other parts you could scavenge from the Haunted house for your GG you could add up another $20+ in savings that you would have spent on BLing the parts. Keep in mind that the Haunted House also has the gates that are used for the Market Street modular if you are interested in building that one. Then what ever you didn't need for the GG you could see how much is left to set aside for the MS or CC. If you don't care about the minifigs from the Haunted House, I would suggest you find a local BL seller in your area that is willing to trade or give you store credit for future orders and make back a little from purchasing that set for parts. I actually thought heavily about buying the Haunted House but ended up just buying from BL myself, as I wasn't planing on spending $300+ like I ended up doing for my GG. If I knew I was going to spend that much I am sure I would have gone and spent the $170 at the LEGO store, received my 169 worth of points and given the glow in the dark ghosts to my kids.
  6. Well. I won't be finishing my GG as soon as I thought. The $$ I was going to use to get the remaining 1x3 and 1x4 Sand Green bricks I ended up doing the Dad thing and took the kids to the movies to see the LEGO Movie. guess it will have to wait another couple weeks before I put in that last order. At least I still have 2 BL orders coming in this week and I should be able to finished the 1st lvl and the roof.
  7. Filled a small cup a couple months back paid for it and my 7 year old daughter was determined to take it out of the bag and out it came. only spilled half of it but i also had a bunch of 1x1 round plates as filler. people around me were nice enough to help gather them up.
  8. I think when all said and done I have spent about $350 between 10 BL, 2 PAB and 1 BnP orders for my GG. Also keep in mind I had about 700 parts scavenged from parts I already had. Still cheaper than buying it out right and a lot funner putting a spreadsheet together and looking through BL for the best prices. Kinda a spreadsheet junkie and I blame that on my last job I had.
  9. Looks like City and Space sets from the 80's and 90's.
  10. if you went with the 1x8 Sand Green bricks you easily spent $100 more than I did. I broke mine up into 1x6 and 1x2 and I found a good deal on the 1x6 bricks. There is a guy in Denmark selling the grooved sand green bricks for .90 per and he shipped quickly. I actually received an extra one from him in the bag. I actually payed for insurance on that shipment since it was coming from over seas so I spent a bit more for those than .90. I would recommend buying from him quickly because when I purchased he had 2900 available and in just 2.5 weeks he is down to 2200 of the 1x2 with groove left showing in his inventory. Once he runs out and if he doesn't get anymore then the price will shoot way up on those.
  11. I did those same changes as well but I went with a dark red for the awning and I plan on just buying the minifigs and not part them out. I have everything that I am going to order via BL ordered and should have them all this week and once I get paid tomorrow I will put in the final order for parts with BnP and that is only 8 lots. BnP will get the 1x3 and 1x4 Sand Green bricks that I need and some other odds and ends that I was not able to complete with BL.
  12. Another Who fan here. Out of the 2 LEGO Who sets so far that have and will be getting to 10,000 votes on Cuusoo I like the 2nd one much better than the first. The 2nd has more playability and I like the 4th Doctors design that he has shown. Lets hope that the review doesn't just throw it out since it was the second of Doctor Who to get 10,000 votes.
  13. Grats, and after over a month waiting for it I am glad you finally got your parts. Does this finish the parts you need to complete the GG or do you still need to order more?
  14. Easiest way to make a spreadsheet is to go into the inventory list in BL for the GG and select the printer version and copy all of it and then past it into the spreadsheet. Then you can modify it with a cost and parts collected columns and any other columns you need to add. That is what I did and worked out great. I have also done this for my CC and MS to keep track of parts that I have found from the LEGO's I already had in my home and what I get from the local PAB wall.
  15. Hate to be so close to having my GG being finished but ran out of money and won't be getting the 1x3 and 1x4 Sand Green bricks to finish the 2 middle sections. Once the last of my parts I have ordered come in I will have about 130 parts to go to be finished with it. Then I am off to building my MS since it will be the easiest to finish with 850-900 parts to BL and BnP orders. I will be modifying the MS to some degree since I don't like the balcony's and thinking of turning the underused section into an extension to the GG for an outdoor market. I have already ordered many of the food items I plan on using for it while I was getting GG parts. Then I will use the top portion as a patio for the MS housing. Here is where my GG is at right now. I can't do any more till I get more 1x8 light blay and 2x2 light blay corner bricks and those "should" be coming next week. with those I will be able to finish the bottom floor and the roof sections.
  16. This week has been like freaking Christmas!! My PAB order came in today as well as 2 other BL orders. I am now only waiting on 1 BL order that as far as I know has not been shipped and I have now sent them a message asking her about it and did that this morning. Just short 11 lots and the 4 minifigs which I will order via BnP. I will build what I can today and upload new pictures of the progress. 2206/2385 for Green Grocer.
  17. Neither can mine. But I think it would be great to have the opportunity to have smaller 16x32 plate sized sets at the cheaper price point. Smaller sets gives a better variety to the look of them once they are connected and more of a real city feel. It would be a way LEGO can market Modulars to more people that usually wouldn't buy them because of the higher price.
  18. a lot is specific part. So if a set has 311 unique parts, there are 311 lots. lots is just the term bricklink.com uses.
  19. Do LEGO employees that make decisions actually read this forum? Just wondering if they come on here to see what the fans of their product are saying and get ideas from what they say here.
  20. At one point I thought about doing mine in lime green as I had a lot of the needed parts in lime from PAB cups over the past few months. Looked into the 1x2 lime green bricks with slot and most didn't have more than 1-4 per store. The prices on them were cheap but no desire to order from 10 stores just for one lot. On another note, I found 3 packages in my mail box today!!! My Denmark order was in which had the Sand Green 1x2 with slot and then 2 small orders for a total of just under 200 pieces. Now at 1971/2385 for the Green Grocer. Cei, great interiors. Sad how the first few Modulars didn't have interiors or if they did they were very limited.
  21. LEGO is a better habit anyways.
  22. It did about a month back. They are all gone now and I picked up enough for my CC at the same time and my kids got the rest of them for there play use.
  23. Medium Blue bricks, Dark Red 1x2, light and dark blay 1x1, 1x2, 1x3 and 1x4, and I even found some 1x2 mail tiles and sextants in the mini figure stand and hid a couple of each into a PAB cup to complete those lots. The stand to build your own mini figures sometimes has items you need in the bin with random parts that mini figures hold. I have also seen legs, hats, hair and chest parts for making the mini figures but I haven't bothered getting mini figure parts that way for my modulars. I figure I will just buy them from BL and not bother piece mealing them out like that as you never know what mini figure parts they will have out. The current selection at my LEGO store doesn't have much of anything for the GG, CC and MS minifigs but did have some back in December.
  24. My first Modulars were the GE and FB as I got them at the same time 2 years ago. Then a year ago my wife purchased the PS for me which was unexpected, but greatly appreciated. This year I finally got around to buying the TH in February and have begun purchasing the last of my parts for the GG that I started collecting 2 years ago. I have found it quite fun rummaging through all my LEGO's for parts for the GG, CC and MS and buying what I don't have via BL and BnP. Right now GG is the only one I am purchasing parts for outside of what I have found for parts from my current stash. It has cost me about $250 for parts and shipping so far for the GG and I still have 1 last BnP order for about $54 to finish it up. Yes it is more expensive getting retired Modulars but I unfortunately missed out on the first few before I knew about them. I am hoping I can get the CC and MS finished and then get PR and PC before another one is released. About next ones to be released, I think it would be nice if TLG would do one every 6 months. Release a full 32x32 set at the beginning of the year like they have been and then a smaller 16x32 set in the summer. I think the well sold Pet Shop shows that people like the smaller sections to place between the other modulars. A price point between $80-100 for the 16x32 set would be worth it to me and might actually get more people interested in other modulars.
