  1. At this stage I wouldn't give it much credence, basically all I heard was "I heard they were giving it a big send off to finish the modular line off" I'd happily collect them for another 10 years, the only one I don't have is Market Street which I don't consider a real modular. I passed on it when it was readily available and I still don't regret it.
  2. This is my version from a while back, along with Ecto-1A to go along with it
  3. I'm waiting patiently for mine to come! can't wait!
  4. I was thinking the same, but now I'll probably get 2 open the 2nd to make it larger like my original one.
  5. I've been playing with a custom janine for a while and was having trouble settling on a hair choice, here's my attempts The last one (anakins hair) I had to photoshop to dark brown as I didn't have one on hand, I think it's probably the winner out of all of them though.
  6. Which pic can you see that in? I can't see anything from the pics taken out side of hook and ladder 8
  7. Yup that's the one thing that I can't explain, as someone suggested elsewhere, it could just be as simple as the website admin just lumped it in with ideas as they didn't know where else to put it
  8. A few people have been wondering what's going on in regards to the Ideas projects (both mine and Sergios), Here's my thoughts on the matter... We've seen in previous instances (UCS Helicarrier) where LEGO has released a product that was rejected from LEGO Ideas prior. LEGO sets take upwards of 6 months to develop from conception to final product and that's multiplied for larger sets. So in the case of the helicarrier I give LEGO the benefit of the doubt that they had already been working on it behind the scenes and unfortunately for the LEGO helicarrier ideas submission, it conflicted with that. Now in this instance you have my own firehouse in my original submission and the more detailed version with a full interior from Sergio Hernancias. As much as I'd love to take credit for it, mine was kinda phoned in, no interior, only a facade. I didn't really intend for it to be taken seriously as part of the submission (though I wouldn't have complained if they did) I felt it was more a background element of the submission, something to boost the presentation. That leaves Sergios, which is more direct ideas submission, this IS the firehouse with a detailed interior. It did reach 10k and was unfortunately rejected. Here's how I see it playing out. My ideas project gets made, sales go very well and LEGO sees lots of people commenting on the lack of the firehouse from the submission. They crunch the numbers (if we sold X ectomobile sets, we might expect say 1% of those people to buy a firehouse, OK it's financially viable). That combined with a new Ghostbusters movie coming out in 2016, it makes perfect sense to greenlight the set. They start the design process for the firehouse, now keep in mind this is the 3rd largest LEGO set ever created. That would have some effect on how long it would take to develop. During this time Sergio submits his Firehouse to ideas. Development on the set is continuing and the firehouse reaches 10k. LEGO is in a difficult position where they can't approve it knowing full well they're already working on one. And they can't reveal that fact to the project creator without the risk of leaking information (as we've seen is a huge issue for them lately) I don't really know what the solution is to be honest, if the decision was made pre-sergios ideas project it makes it difficult to justify getting him involved. I guess the best you could ask for is sending him a set or 2 (I'll take some too please :P) Now I can forsee this happening again. With the new movie coming out I have heard rumours of sets coming out to accompany it, they'd be crazy not to. If they're getting the license it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't put out further, smaller sets from the old movies, maybe something with Vigo and GB2 dark grey suits and slime blowers and what I think will effect me, a small (maybe hulkbuster sized) stay puft set with gozer and some marshmallowed Ghostbusters variants. Why do I think this? it makes no sense to me to omit Gozer from the firehouse in favour of a zombie taxi driver. My marshmallow man is under review at the moment and could very easily conflict with an upcoming set for next year and be rejected. Plus I think mine is too large to be seriously considered, but I think it's far more likely there's already stuff in the works. Between the Firehouse set and the Dimensions inclusion, they're sinking too much dough into the Ghostbusters franchise to only have a firehouse and Ecto1 set on the shelves.
  9. Could be less minifigures in the HQ than the Death Star too, though until we see pics we're all just guesstimating really.
  10. I haven't actually looked closely at Sergios version but I personally used 1x2 dark red bricks in favour of larger pieces to add to the brick texture look. If they did the same in an official version that could up the piece count considerably. Has there been any previous sets that have used numerous smaller pieces over less larger ones to achieve that kind of textured look? Or it could include Ecto-1A from Ghostbusters 2 or a Stay Puft (or both) which would account for the piece count. Fake Edit>, I just checked the piece count of Sergios, it's 5704. His was a bit smaller than mine but with the full interior that certainly ups the part count. It's entirely plausible that 4600 pieces could be used on the firehouse alone.
  11. I just threw up in my mouth a little
  12. Brent Waller here, Ghostbusters set project creator, I've more or less said the below elsewhere but for the record this is the first I've heard of this, but that doesn't mean it's not true however. I knew nothing of Ghostbusters appearing in LEGO Dimensions, any more than the rumours and speculation from the community. There's several reasons it could be true. New movie coming out will boost the popularity of the IP Ghostbusters will be "out there" in the public eye even more early next year due to the inclusion in LEGO Dimensions Large one-offs have been proven to be good sellers, Simpsons House, Kwik-E-Mart, Haunted House etc Ecto-1 set has been very popular, that combined with the new movie coming out There's also several reasons it may not be It's bloody massive Ecto-1 has been round a while now, in all likelihood it won't be on the shelves anymore in late 2016 if the Delorean is any guide. Seems like to make the most out of the HQ you'd ideally want both on the shelves together. Though I guess they could either extend production of the car or include it or a variant of it with the HQ Releasing a set associated with the old films could be counter to the interests of any potential sets coming out for the new film. I mention this because I have heard rumours of this happening, not through LEGO though, through retailers so take that for what it's worth. This point could also be viewed as a positive I guess, just creating exposure for all forms of Ghostbusters. The core concept (HQ) was rejected from LEGO Ideas twice. Though to be fair the Ideas platform has been proven to not be a good place to produce large sets. It's bloody massive Adding onto these points, bouncing off some of the things said in this thread. It kinda sucks myself and Sergio Hernacias (who did the stand alone HQ on Ideas) had nothing to do with this but who knows what's gone on behind the scenes, this could have been in the works since the Ideas set of mine passed review. I'd be nice if LEGO sent us both some sets though *subtle hint* It doesn't really bother me though, I'm more excited that it's (potentially) going to happen! I was personally going to disassemble my own HQ in favour of building Sergios has his has a full interior (though I'd keep my dark red colour scheme over the nougat/orange he used), so a REAL HQ set coming out I will be all over. I've heard rumours through retailers (not LEGO themselves) about a line of Ghostbusters sets coming in 2016 for the new film so this could potentially be the equivalent of the Haunted House set to the Monster Fighters line, which makes sense, the HH proved popular even without a licensed attached (it was the only MF set I bought personally) so attaching the GB licensed to a big set like that is a no brainer from a business point of view. LEGO is very secretive about their upcoming sets so it's understandable myself or Sergio (I haven't spoken to him about this personally yet so I'm not speaking for him) haven't been notified of this. There's a lot of legalities involved with various IP holders, retailers etc etc that it makes no sense to involve a outsider who has no real input to the process, we've seen more and more leaks in the past few years than ever before which is even more reason to be tighter with this kind of info. As for the interior vs none comments, I see no point in going halfway with this type of set. I'd aimed at adults and collectors and anything short of complete is not going to cut it for something as iconic as the HQ. Unlike the various batcaves that have been released this I can't see being aimed at kids. It wouldn't surprise me if the HQ ( ) from the new film is released as a playset however.
  13. Wow that's great news! I wish someone would have told me!
  14. Haha, if only... *daydreams*
  15. So this happened today https://twitter.com/GillianA/status/624723455523467264 I'm working on getting more made (as I knew this was coming) I'm not sure if it's ok to post here though but here's my facebook page for my custom stuff.
  16. I haven't posted a few things I've been doing so I figured rather than a thread for each one I'd just dump them all in one mega thread! First appearance Batman! Original Batman from 1939 by Brent Waller, on Flickr Based on his first appearance in DC Comics #27 and inspired by the LEGO Batman 3 videogame I've used a wolverine mask, painted it, a 2015 Batman Torso, light purple hands and painted his boots and "underwear" I might upgrade his torso at some point with a less modern looking one. Messing with some Crazy Bricks brand custom skull parts painted black for Batman Villian, The Black Mask.... Black Mask by Brent Waller, on Flickr Painted Silver for the Terminator Robot (Eyes are just photoshopped for now, working on a solution to make them red using some beads) Terminator (WIP) by Brent Waller, on Flickr Purist Arnie Terminator (except for the shotgun of course) to accompany it Arnie Terminator by Brent Waller, on Flickr Indiana Jones dump... Indiana Jones - Major Toht by Brent Waller, on Flickr Indiana Jones - Marcus Brody by Brent Waller, on Flickr Indiana Jones - Grail Knight by Brent Waller, on Flickr Indiana Jones - Sallah by Brent Waller, on Flickr Indiana Jones - Donovan by Brent Waller, on Flickr TMNT Movie (1990) Raphael Movie Raphael by Brent Waller, on Flickr Brick Killed a guy...with a trident Brick Killed a Guy by Brent Waller, on Flickr Movie Wolverine My Dark Knight series Ghostbusters characters ET I was a bit disappointed and tired of using waterslide decals so for these next few I branched out into pad printing and UV printing, I have previously posted these in different subforums here Classic Space variants Header by Brent Waller, on Flickr X-Files Mulder and Scully by Brent Waller, on Flickr
  17. brickinit customs only does the pad printing, the colours for the bricks I've used are all standard lego parts with their existing prints. The airtanks were painted because those parts didn't existing the colours I needed. Brickinit can print custom designs for you but they don't paint
  18. They're all pad printed like LEGO uses! I didn't do the printing myself, I got it done via brickinit.com.au. I just did the vector art of the classic space logo, and the painful process of removing the existing prints from all the torsos and painting the airtanks
  19. I wasn't sure whether to post this in the minifig customization workshop or here, I figured you guys and gals would get a kick out of it more than them. I've wanted to do this for a while but finally got enough other people on board to make it cost effective. I ended up 20x of 6 main colours and I did about 7 extra one-offs for myself in various colours I had on hand. The result is a rainbow of classic space men! Header by Brent Waller, on Flickr The colours from left to right White (official lego, recent re-release) Light Bluish Grey (Old grey airtanks) Pearl Silver (Painted airtanks, hands and hips) Old Dark Grey (Painted Airtanks) Dark Pearl Silver (Painted Airtanks) Black (unaltered, official LEGO) Dark Tan (Painted Airtanks) Pearl Gold (Airtanks yet to be painted) Yellow (Painted Airtanks) Orange (Painted Airtanks) Red (unaltered, official LEGO) Dark Red (Painted Airtanks) Dark Purple (Painted Airtanks) Dark Blue (Painted Airtanks) Blue (unaltered, official LEGO) Medium Blue (Painted Airtanks, Hands) Lime (Painted Airtanks) Green (Unaltered Exosuit release) Dark Green (Painted Airtanks) Benny's cousin's are in town by Brent Waller, on Flickr Pad printed Torsos by Brent Waller, on Flickr Painted Aritanks by Brent Waller, on Flickr The airtanks had to be custom painted to match the LEGO colours as best as possible, as you can see some colours aren't perfect but these photos do exaggerate the difference quite a bit for some reason. For those who might be asking, I opted to go for the new style helmet as I couldn't bring myself to paint old ones and the colour difference in painting on airtanks isn't quite as noticeable as it would be if I'd done the helmet as well where it's more up front and in your face. In retrospect if I was to do it again (I've had requests from some people who'd love some) I'd get the classic colours reprinted, as the discrepancy in quality is noticeable, the older printers although in good condition are misaligned and not as crisp as the new ones (with the exception of the white and green which are from the recent re-releases)
  20. Yeah I already submitted it and it was rejected before I posted it here.
  21. I don't begrudge LEGO for making the decision, I kind of expected it to be honest. But in the end of the day it's their company and it's their choice in how they represent their brand and what IPs they associated themselves with.
  22. I found a bricklink seller who had the scully heads in stock, so I'm all set now! I just need to spend several hours removing the cheeklines from both minifigs :|
  23. It's too mature for LEGO Ideas unfortunately
  24. I've ordered most of the parts I need, but they still have to arrive and I need to finalise the designs before getting them printed. I need to nail down Mulder's and Scully's faces too as unfortunately the heads I used aren't readily available in bulk. So I'm auditioning some new ones, this is the one I'm contemplating for Mulder (still waiting on one to arrive to try for Scully) It comes with the cheek lines but I can remove them if the consensus is that it's better without. It's a pain to do though. Alternatively if the consensus is that the old face is considerably better I can recreate it digitally and print it onto blank heads. Not ideal though as it adds to the cost, so it'd have to considerably better. Any feedback is appreciated.
  25. Hah, me too, a podcast called "X-Files Files" got me rewatching the series, which I haven't since it aired, I was obsessed with it back then (my still current username comes from the name of an episode of the show) I'm actually looking into getting these made en masse so other people can get ahold of them, Mulder, Scully, 2x guns, 2x ID badges and 2x Flashlights as a package. Haha that's awesome, one of my favourite episodes
