  1. Captain Kaboom suggested this idea in the Classic-Pirates.com - The New Users page thread and it seemed quite a good idea to pursue. Here's the list so far... Army Barque Battle Scene Big Parrot Bridge Brig Cannon Caravel Castaway Cave Chinese Junk Church Corvette Cove Davy Jone's Locker Dock Fleet Fort Fortifications Frigate Galleon Gallows Governor's Mansion Graveyard Harbour Hut Inn Island Island Fortress Junk Ketch Lantern Lagoon Lighthouse Man-o-War Merchantman Mill Palace Pirate Hideout Pirate Map Plantation Prison Pyramid (Mayan/Aztec) Outpost Port Raft Reef Sea Monster Sea Serpent Schooner Shack Ship Ship of the line Shipwreck Shipyard Sloop Stronghold Tavern Treasure Island Treasure Trove Volcano Village VOC-ship Warehouse Waterfall Xebec I'll add more suggestions as they're posted and we can elaborate further...
  2. You must be really bloody old then :-P I knew someone who shared the same thoughts as you do. As a kid he was a big fan of LEGO during the 70's but then 80's came along and themes began popping up with their specialised pieces and he was disgusted! For him this was the beginning of what some refer to as "juniorisation". What do you think of pirates and their varied printed faces now, old Sinner?
  3. I was going to create a list of pirate definitions - or a "glossary" page, but the A-Z of things to build is actually a quite good idea. I think I shall add a page for that. We do have such a thread already so putting a link to it would be a very good idea! I've just linked to the whole Poll Archive Page for now. Yes, this could be a good idea... I don't think that's necessary because they should have already seen the frontpage News Items before getting to the New Users Page. They're Imperial Regard recruits, not pirates. But whatever! *wacko* I don't even know what a Timmy face is, but if you'd like to design a better image for the page then you're most welcome to.
  4. It's looking promising in the little glimpses you're giving us. Maybe it'll be a suitable candidate for the Front Page News of Classic-Pirates.com.
  5. Oh you're quite welcome Legocastlegirl! My Red Beard Runner arrived today so I'm in the process of building it.
  6. Well we can't expect a MegaBloks sculpture to look as good as the LEGO ones :-D
  7. 6290 Red Beard Runner - USED 6247 Bounty Boat - MISB 6244 Armada Sentry - MISB 1802 Treasure Tidy - MISP
  8. Yes, that Pagan background makes me overly dubious that this is in fact LEGO. Given that Megabloks had the Pirates of the Caribbean license what do you suppose the chances are they decided to build a life sized sculpture of Mr Sparrow?
  9. What an awesome vignette! The colour scheme hits the mark by delving in the browns and grays which sets a very nice tone for the thematic. The accessory detail is adequate, though I think I'd like to see more steins than goblets in a saloon. Of course the most outstanding detail is the mirror and it's certainly a touch of ingenuity to incorporate it into a MOC or vignette. Is that mirror part of an actual LEGO set or is that a found object which has been incorporated?
  10. I'm codfish. My MOCing skills are very limited and it takes me hours to do even simple things. I'm starting to get busy to the point where I'll be taking time away from the forum so things like article Part IV, V and the MySpace must be taken care of before that happens, or they won't get done. So I'm not willing to spend even an hour to build. Nonetheless there are several MOCs I've created in this forum, go find them. Anyway, I think MOCing is best left to users like yourself who have superb skills. Go pump out half a dozen vignettes and show us how it's done!
  11. Interesting. However it does mention 16x16 bases... Ok, but you'll have to finish of Article Part IV and the Classic-Pirates.com MySpace...
  12. Where are these standards for vignettes defined? I'd like to read up on them sometime...
  13. Why not a vignette? What would you classify it as then?
  14. Wait another week and all will be revealed in Part IV of the Guide to the Pirate Mini-Figures articles.
  15. Created by Kevin "Tyrant596". "Conquistdor with sun, surf, fresh fish, treasure, but no fresh agua." I found this on MOCpages. For a simple vignette it seems to have received a lot of positive feedbkback.
  16. ME!!! I love Quick Reply!
  17. Ah yes, a very nice structure indeed! There looks to be some quite interesting details like the pot plants and arch way of the main entrance, but it would be better if we could get a closer look. Was there other pictures in that Brickshelf Gallery?
  18. What are you going to be using pipes for SlyOwl? You're not going to build a sidewheeler are you? X-O
  19. Mr SylOwl, you've used a very interesting technique to create the hull for this ship. If I remember correctly there's pictures of the process you used to reach this design, perhaps you could also post them for the interest of others. Unless of course you want them patterned exclusively to you X-D
  20. Thank you SlyOwl *y* So, has the Blue Dolphin made any updates to this wonderful MOC?
  21. It's best not to register additional accounts because that tends to annoy the other administrators. If you need to make a major change then send me a PM and I'll help you out. Excellent! And be sure to add the best picture to your very first post. Threads with a picture or two in the first post tend to get more attention.
  22. Even though it looks awesome I think it needs more modification from 7029 Skeleton Attack Ships. Apart from adding pirate accessories to some of the mini-figures and making it a lot bigger, the MOC still shares too many similarities with original. I wouldn't say this is a bad thing but I wouldn't personally say it deserves to be a set due lack of offering anything new.
  23. New have an all new candidate for the Classic-Pirates.com frontpage news. This ship looks menacingly awesome!
  24. Well done! You've managed to figure out Step 2 all by yourself - and that was to upload some images. Now Step 3 is to resize an image or two so they can fit comfortably inside the thread. See the How to Perform a Batch Image Resize Tutorial for instructions on how to do this.
  25. He signed up but couldn't get pass the registration validation last I heard. You know what's happening with him ImperialScouts?
