AFOL Survey - July 2009 - send your feedback to the LEGO Group
Mister Phes replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
From my understanding the LEGO Group prevents interaction between designers (or LEGO set designs in general) and consumers to avoid legal entanglements. If a designer was to accept an idea from a consumer without going through the appropriate channels (I.e. the ones that verfied the intellectual property rights), that person could potentally claim the LEGO Group stole their idea and take legal action. So that's why we have LEGO Ambassadors to act as the middle person between the consumer and LEGO Group. -
Imperial Village by Imperial Governer
Mister Phes replied to Imperial Governer's topic in Pirate MOCs
The lads who've posted are right, Imperial Governor you're going to need better pictures if you want people to comment on your MOC. -
The Storming of the Bastille (Mini-Film)
Mister Phes replied to Sir Wellington's topic in Pirate MOCs
I certainly lack the patience for stop motion animation! -
Well the MOC is quite awesome! Have you scuttled it yet or is there a chance to take more pictures at a later date?
-
Something like this would make a nice set. Well for me anyway, maybe it wouldn't be so interesting to others, but I've always been interested in having equids incorporated into the Pirate theme. A caisson is indeed quite a nice innovation.

Ahhhhhhhh nothing like the sideshow attractions at a fair... But exactly what is that tall rock like structure with the brick-build bird aplomb supposed to be?

Since this thread wasn't really going anywhere I have merged it with it's counterpart thread in the main Pirate Forum. May this blessid union kick things off!

AFOL Survey - July 2009 - send your feedback to the LEGO Group
Mister Phes replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
I've just completed the survey. Seems to be a strong emphasis on Brick Journal this year. Having not read Brick Journal previously could somebody please tell me why it's so important to have such extensive questioning in the LEGO survey? -
Where would you prefer to discuss Custom Pirate LEGO Mini-Figures?
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
It seems we're 4 votes shy and I could have sworn somebody voted for "Either forum is fine" I.e. the total votes is 25 but the poll choices each add up to 21. So has anybody edited the first post of this thread? Sometimes doing this causes the votes to reset to zero which seems to be a very annoying bug in the forum. -
It's a good thing Classic-Pirates.com has an Ambassador now, only problem is he's on shore leave right now...

When I asked the question "Is this a hint the blue coats might return?" I wasn't referring to the original blue coat mini-figures. I meant an updated blue coat sub-theme, with updated torso designs, similiar to what's been done with the red coats. So now everybody can stop writing "the old blue coats will never return" because that's not what I was actually asking!
-
Yeah, its all the Davinci Code's fault - ever since that became popular people are over speculating everything and seeing things where there is really nothing at all

Captain Zuloo is right (for a change ), when we find something of quality we like to share it with everbody!

Currently the Custom Pirate LEGO Mini-Figures are discussed in the Minifig Customisation Workshop While this forum is a great asset to Eurobricks, the Classic-Pirates.com Crew is pondering whether the Pirate MOC Forum would a better place to discuss Custom Pirate Mini-figures. So we’re curious to know where you would prefer. Please vote in the above poll and share feedback, the more information you give us, the better we can tailor to your needs. Eurobricks staff may click here to view the planning thread. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here is some additional information to explain why we’re asking: Why is the Pirate MOC Forum a better place? Classic-Pirates.com Crew is dreaming up some wonderful events which involve custom Pirate mini-figures, but problem is the mini-figure discussion takes place outside the Pirate Forum. Why is that a problem? The Classic-Pirates.com Crew has worked very hard to build an online Pirate LEGO community united under the one banner. So if you’ve been Classic-Pirates.com itself, the LEGO Pirates, the MySpace Profile, Twitter Profile, etc. you’ll notice they all have a similar design theme with consistent Classic-Pirates.com branding. Problem is, when you send people outside of the Pirates Forum it’s like stepping outside Classic-Pirates.com. From a marketing perspective identity cohesion is extremely important, particularly when running a promotion or event. But if we send people to a forum without the Classic-Pirates.com branding it somewhat undermines the promotion. Same happens when we want to frontpage Custom Pirate Mini-Figures. Does that really matter? We are now at a point in time where planning and future direction is critical. We have new SYSTEM Pirate sets for the first time in a decade, we have our first LEGO Ambassador and we have a website averaging over 11,000 unique visitors per month. While this is a great achievement, we want to keep building upon our success and pushing new boundaries. It also takes more resources and coordination to monitor discussion outside the Pirate Forum, not to mention, those who only wish to discuss Pirates cannot chose whether their level of involved. I.e. if they only want to be involved in Classic-Pirates.com or the entirety of Eurobricks. What impact would it have on the Minifig Customisation Workshop? There would be a couple less threads in the Workshop, but at present you will observe we don’t have much Pirate Mini-Figure customization activity anyway. Interesting to note, prior to the Minifig Customisation Workshop there was more threads involving Pirate Minifig Customisation. Obviously this has changed, perhaps because there is less interest in Pirate Mini-Figure customization at Eurobricks or maybe the Minifig Workshop doesn’t motivate Pirate Mini-figure customizes. We’ll let you decide. So if the majority votes “Pirate MOC Forum” will the discussion be relocated? Not necessarily, this poll should only be considered as preliminary research but your input is very much appreciated!

I might just have to get myself down to Kmart to buy one of these, but not to wear, for keepsake. Then I might have to head to Big W and buy 20 of those Pirate Impulse sets at $4.88...
-
I'll keep you informed. There's a couple of other matters I need to take care of before going ahead with the project so in the mean time we've frontpaged your wonderful artwork on Classic-Pirates.com.
-
You're a legend Cutlass Iz! We do very much appreciate reviews of non-LEGO, LEGO products. I'll send this thread to the news department so they can frontpage it in the near future.
-
That's actually what I meant, it wouldn't seem logical to reintroduce the old torso given the style of torso in modern sets has changed significantly over the past 20 years. Well we're the consumers, so if the LEGO Group doesn't manufacture products that we want to purchase then their business won't be as profitable. But apparently, AFOLs only represent a small perfectage of the overall LEGO cosumers anyway, though I'm curious how far into the future this may extend. Nonetheless, there is always a possiblility for a blue coat themed Shop@Home exclusive aimed specifically at AFOLs, and now that we have a LEGO Ambassador to relay information back to the LEGO Group, it's not something we should overrule completely.
-
Indeed it has! But it seems we don't have a thread for this in the Pirate Forum so I won't merge them. Does anybody think this may be another hint an updated blue coat sub-theme will appear in the future? We saw them in the LEGO Battles Trailer.
-
Indeed you are correct Mister Lock, so I'll merge the two threads. This way the old thread will be bumped to the top of the forum and we can avoid having two threads. As soon as I find the first thread...

Awesome! Another artist! But excuse my ignorance, what does "Prismas and Copics " mean? Are they the type of markers you used to draw this work? I was considering publishing A Guide to the Mini-Figures Part V PDF Article and inviting various artists to contribute their work. They'd be fully credited with links their website/online portfolios, and whatever else helps them get their work out there. So if you're interested just let me know.

Any Idea When the Next Pirate Sets will be announced?
Mister Phes replied to Dr. Steve's topic in LEGO Pirates
Now that Classic-Pirates.com has a LEGO Ambassador we should have a much better idea of when or if new Pirate sets are scheduled 2010. Whether we can pass that information on is another matter entirely. -
We have our first Classic-Pirates LEGO Ambassador!
Mister Phes replied to Zorro's topic in LEGO Pirates
I've been up all night engraving a new picture frame for Bonaparte - good thing he was successful otherwise all that hard engraving work would have went to waste! -
Alrighty, I see what you mean. Yes, you're right, Brickmaster magazine did have Pirate LEGO Comics although I haven't personally seen them. One day we might be lucky enough to get our hands upon some scans!
