Well I can only speculate at this stage. I'm assuming the LEGO Group needs to test the market with less expensive Pirate LEGO products to ascertain whether it exclusive sets would be viable. I'm having trouble buying the new sets in retail stores because the sets seem to sell out within 24 hours. So there is a strong demand in this part of the world!

I'm quite happy for the LEGO Group to cash in on Pirates for the moment because if they make a huge profit that may pave the way for exclusive sets in the future.

You can still buy the original sets on eBay or BrickLink, unless you have issues buying used LEGO.

Ok, we're making some progress! You really need to resize a picture down to about 640 x 480 and post it directly in the thread for best results, but I'll leave that with you. Now this has been confirmed as a MOC I shall move it to the Pirate MOC sub-forum.

You have done well sir! It much easier to create individual threads so people can discuss the products individually rather than cramming them all into the one thread. It tends to let the discussion "breathe" and expand more cohesively.

Ya know you're not making this very easy for people to view these images. If you seriously want people to comment then post some images in the thread itself and then provide a clear and direct link the webpage where they can find more images. This should all be inside the first post otherwise people are going to view the thread, see nothing of interest and move on.

Well too bad! You're getting the Governor Broadside and Captain Brickbeard minifigures whether you want them or not! However, I do agree with that statement. Just think how ridiculously common Captain Red Beard/Roger and King Kahuka were, and we probably don't want a similiar situation with noteable mini-figures of the new Pirate theme.

We could indeed link them. I.e. create the thread in the Minifigure Customisation Workshop and then move it to the Pirate MOC Sub-Forum. That would indeed link directly to the thread in both forums, however it would require additional effort every time a thread is created. Yeah, you're right. I have no idea what you're referring to! You're one of the all time great Pirate Minifigure customizers, so if the Pirate forum is your favourite that's saying something.

Not only that, in the past couple of days we learnt of the release date of the Brickmaster Pirate Set and Pirates Tic Tac Toe game. Plus there's recently been the Pirate T-Shirt Review. So this seems to be a substantial investment in Pirates and like SlyOwl said, why would the LEGO Group bother to release so many Pirate LEGO related products if Pirates were a passing fad?

This is certainly a great way to disgue a minifigure pack! This is the most generous helping of Pirate themed minifigures ever to be released!
