LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Contest - Voting Rules
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
No, that rule was abolished for simplicity sake. The only requirement to allocate one Bonus Point to your own entry is verifying one Bonus Point. Voting has closed! Points will be tallied and the winners will be announced next weekend. -
LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Contest - Voting Rules

Yes, the process to claim all 3 points was deemed too confusing for some people so now you can only allocate 1 Standard Point and 1 Bonus Point to your own entry. -
LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Contest - Voting Rules
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think it would be, but I'm not going to be the one spending the time doing it! I'm not sure what you're asking so I'll take a stab: If somebody doesn't have a Eurobricks account registered prior to July 15 they cannot vote, so therefore cannot claim the Bonus Point. -
<div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 460px; text-align: justify; line-height: 150%"> Our Pirates of the Caribbean Contest has come to an end so now its time to vote for the winners. You get 5 points for each division and you may even allocate 1 point per division to your own entry. To get started visit the Voting Rules & Questions thread. P.S. The Creative Critic continues through voting so don't miss this opportunity to review the entries and leave your final thoughts. </div>

You're not wrong, giving feedback is one aspect of critique, but its not the sole purpose of the Creative Critic. -

Pirates of the Carribean Contest - ENTRIES CLOSED
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well that's right. The idea is not so everybody enters everything, we're giving you a choice between building a MOC, writing a story or being a critic, but if somebody wants to do all three then that's fine too. -
Pirates of the Carribean Contest - ENTRIES CLOSED
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Like I said in my previous post, its more for the benefit of critics who came along later and haven't reviewed all the entries yet. But it's no more unusual than reviewing LEGO sets because the LEGO Group isn't going to redesign the set based on the reviews. -
Pirates of the Carribean Contest - ENTRIES CLOSED
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Boulderdash! In the real world of critique, authors do not get the opportunity to modify their work based on the feedback of critics. They publish their work and the critics run rampant. Ok, so this isn't exactly the same, but the point is critics who've joined us later in the contest still have the opportunity to express their opinions. If the entrants wanted to use the feedback to improve their entries they should have submitted them earlier. Also, clever critics who've been participating the whole time will use this as an opportunity to build upon what they've already wrote. If somebody can't think of something useful to add then too bad, because the ones who can will have a greater chance of winning the Creative Critic prizes. You're thinking about this way too much. Dude, it's just a bit of fun. If the critic feedback is useful then good, if not, then too bad. -

There are still prizes available for best Creative Critic. So the benefit is now for the critics, rather than the entrants. -

The Bonus Points won't be dropped entirely but they will definitely be simplified.

No Match By Alaina Cillis via Email Captain Redbeard was awakened from his morning slumber by harsh pounding on his cabin door. “Captain,” yelled Redbeard’s first mate, Rummey, “we’ve picked up some pirates. I told them you’d see them in my cabin.” “Thank you, Rummey.” Blasted fool knew better than to disturb him at this hour. Oh well, once the captain was up, the captain was up. Redbeard donned his fancy green frock and black coat, strapped on his pistols, woke up his parrot, Popsy, and went out into the narrow breezeway. He rapped on the door to Rummey’s cabin. It opened almost immediately, only to reveal the most hideous and disturbing creature that Redbeard had ever clapped eyes on. Reflexes kicked in, early in the morning as it was, and the monster was quickly dead on the cabin floor. As Redbeard peered down at the…thing, a dark figure emerged from the depths of the room. Redbeard was about to let a second bullet fly when he realized it was a human. “Sorry about the mess,” Redbeard began congenially. The person’s mouth hung open like a codfish. “You killed him! You killed Jack!” it cried in a woman’s voice. “That is a Jack?” “You killed Jack!” she repeated wildly. “You killed Jack!” Popsy echoed. “What is it, Elizabeth?” came a voice from within the cabin. The owner of the voice, a shabby-looking youth with clothes as ratty as his accent, stalked up and stood by the woman. “He killed Jack! Shot him dead just now!” “What? Draw your sword, darling, we’ll take care of—“ BAM! BAM! “”Rummey!” “Yes, Captain?” Rummey jogged down the corridor and gazed nonchalantly over Redbeard’s shoulder at the bodies. “Clean up this mess. By the way, they were pirates, weren’t they?” “As far as I know, sir.” “Good. Three less competition.”

There will be indices with links to entries for both divisions. Yes, that is correct, but the rule has already been amended and will be revealed next week.
-
And maybe it is... So if others feel the same way they better speak now before its too late to make amendmenst to the voting rules. It should only make the voting confusing, not the whole contest.
-
Matn will need to start a protest then! If enough people agree with you then we'll no doubt cave in and change the rules. But hurry! Voting starts in just over a week.
