Never! You're a classically piratey purist! But innovation and design evolution is imperative to avoid derivative, rehashes of what's already been released. If you look at the original pirates theme you'll observe the set designs evolve, particularly in the latter years there is a noticeable stylistic difference from the sets released at the beginning.

"Classically piratey" - I shall incorporate that into my vocabulary at once! You're perhaps correct in a purist sense, but in my personal sentiment; it's necessary innovation which ensures the aesthetic introduced by Barracuda Bay remains fresh without veering too far into the builder's intrinsic style. Albeit a very subjective sentiment.

So that's probably what they mean by: "Working with Model Governance and Building Instructions teams, and making any final necessary adjustments before locking the designs for pre-production."

Indeed, that's the point I'm getting at - it may already be too expensive for many. Nonetheless, this is just speculation. Have the BrickLink Designer Team ever downsized a BrickLink submission?

There's a bunch of close-up photos of the building interiors here. The back of the buildings are not enclosed. Affordability is a concern for many - make it too big and very few will have sufficient money to buy it.

During the Return of the Classic Pirates Contest last year, you posted an update via social media encouraging your followers to vote. This prompted some people to register Eurobricks account especially to vote for your entries. Consequentially some forum members believed they were fraudulent accounts. I personally investigated and contacted those people to verify this wasn't the case. This is my fault as I should have enforced stricter voting rules during the previous contest.

The concern has already been addressed here - everything is fine. But everyone: PLEASE NOT NOT DISCUSS IN THE VOTING TOPICS!!! As per the first post of each Voting Topic:

Nobody told MyFirstMOC that. Building Entrants can Vote for their own Entries, but they don't receive any Bonus Points - just 1 Point for each of the Entries they Vote on. He's one of the few entrants who promotes his entries via social media so naturally his friends will support him. As far as fraud is concerned: GabKremo registered his account on August 25, 2020 while MyFirstMOC registered his on June 22, 2023, almost 3 years later. Both members have logged in from the same location for the entire history of their accounts; Germany and Hungary respectively, also these are the same countries stated on their Eurobricks profiles. If they were using VPNs, their IP addresses and countries would be bouncing around all over the place in the Admin logs.

LEGO Pirate fans tend to have outrageously high expectations so no matter which design The LEGO Group arrives at, some fans will never be pleased. However, in terms of general consumers, particularly those who don't regularly buy LEGO, it may harm product sales if the design is too far removed from the movie. Imagine this scenario: Billy learns a LEGO set based on the ship from The Goonies will be released in the future. Billy isn't an AFOL who regularly buys LEGO, but he has lots of warm fuzzy memories of watching The Goonie as a kid. When he learns of the upcoming release, he doesn't even remember that the ship isn't actually wrecked so he's really excited by the news. This will be a sporadic LEGO purchase for Billy - the first LEGO set he's purchased as an adult. Naturally this excitement inspires him to watch The Goonie again after many years. Uh oh! The ship he sees on screen is vastly different to the upcoming release. Obviously it's normal for LEGO sets to deviate from their source of inspiration, but how far can they deviate before Billy begins thinking; "Is this even he same ship? I'd prefer the ship I see in the movie. I guess this isn't really what I want." And then Billy decides not to purchase the set because a shipwreck is conceptually different to a ship hidden a cave which can still sail. Like I said to @Dreamweb, think Barracuda Bay... A shipwreck island concept was submitted to LEGO Ideas and we got both that and a modern Black Seas Barracuda update. So there are definitely possibilities for this Goonies set...
