  1. This has got me wondering about the fate of the Caribbean Clipper remake . What happens if it reaches 10K? Is this submission also subject to this "overlap" with Pirates of Barracuda Bay (and ship concept)?
  2. The post has been made. Comment away me lovelies! Thank you to @Darkdragon for providing the minifig photo.
  3. It's also been posted on the Classic Pirates Facebook Page
  4. But the real question is why didn't you post this in the Pirate MOC Forum yourself? Given this is the most active international LEGO Pirates discussion board outside of social media, it seems like a logical place to get exposure for your submission.
  5. This is a great rendition of a Tiki! Actually, would work well as a poly bag set - let's post it on the Classic Pirates Facebook Page.
  6. Have submissions ever been approved and then unapproved?
  7. Where da minifigs? (I write that far too often) But this is a magnficent ship in its own right so it can be posted on the Classic Pirates Facebook Page.
  8. Dark Dragon has provided plenty... but I'd never say no to a good display photo.
  9. You could dominate the market!
  10. I haven't decided exactly what I want yet - I'll look into it more after I get my client work done. This post will be addressing "LEGO Ideas rejecting pirate submissions" - so that's why I wanted the minifig to look shocked. But after I've got it figured out, it be similar in editing and style to the below:
  11. @Darkdragon, you're killin' `em!
  12. That's fine, thank you! I can remove the white background and replace it with some scenery. But if anyone else wants to contribute, we could perhaps have two or more pirates looking panicked.
  13. Yes, like that only more front-on like this... But you're probably not going to get that close and maintain clear focus so the image will need to be large enough to be cropped. Also, the second minifig has the correct expression - the first minifig looks to aggressive.
  14. Avast! I'm looking for a photo of pirate minifig looking shocked to use in an upcoming post on the Classic Pirates Facebook Page. Minifig could also be dramatically posed with their arms in the air as the pirate has received the worse news of their life. Here are some facial expression examples:
  15. Thank you both for the examples... are the original submissions for the aforementioned sets still on LEGO Ideas? I'm curious to see just how close they are to the sets which were eventually released.
  16. But only respond if you really really LOVE LEGO Pirates.
  17. No worries! Very easy to do when communicating via text. Thank you for providing the insightful response.
  18. That is correct, however I wasn't challenging your response. I was attempting to improve my understanding by broadening my line of questioning.
  19. Ok, let's assume submitting a concept to LEGO Ideas provides the LEGO Group with free reign over the concept to do as they please. Have they ever released an "in-house" set which is remarkably similar to a LEGO Ideas submission?
  20. The issue is they haven't clearly defined what constitutes as a "Barracuda Bay (and ship concept)". If they said "any concept relating to the LEGO Pirates theme" we'd have a much better understanding, but at current we're just making assumptions.
  21. Thank you for the clarification. Legally they cannot use LEGO Ideas submissions for their in-house sets. Under the Intellectual Property agreement, LEGO Ideas submissions can only be used for LEGO Ideas release (someone with a legal background correct me if I'm wrong about that). But if a new wave of pirate set is released, I also wouldn't hold out hope for any grandiose Imperial/Soldier sets. It's just going to be a rehash of what we saw in the past two waves. I.e. a small fort and medium size fort. Nothing like Eldorado Fortress or the Imperial Trading Post (someone with a background in the LEGO Group correct if I'm wrong).
  22. There has been no official confirmation but as per the business plan of releasing a new wave of pirate sets every 5-7 years, a new wave is due around 2021. I haven't been following LEGO Ideas much due to the absence of pirate releases, so thank you for the overview of their mood changes. These submissions you mention... these all reached 10K supporters and rejected during the final review? And not rejected as soon as they were submitted?
  23. Their definition of "overlap" seems very generous, given your submission (pictured below) does not contain any pirates.
