Mi first set was 6607 and it was a present from my grand father when i was about 7. At that time, Lego were quite uncommon in Argentina and you could only get some of the tiny sets. I still have it complete with its instructions and is one of the set I love most.

To anyone planning to get two of these, in order to join two baseplates and make a complete island (as I did), this CAN't be done. The back of the baseplate slopes slightly inwards, so, when you join two of these, you get a gap about 2 mm wide. :( Sad thing TLG didn't think about this!!!

No, it wouldn't. Why? Simply because a plane takes off because of the sustentation generated by air flowing through its wings, and for this to happen, the plane itself must be moving. In this case, the plane is completely static, the only thing moving are its wheels. :)

No LEGO from my relatives for me this Christmas... I got a nice black shirt, a T-shirt, a leather wallet and a small sculpture... so I had to go online and get the Market Street set... :)

It has nothing to do with construction nor CG... If you look at the side, it has a Highway Mantainance logo. I really love this set. The heli is really similar to the cost guard heli (the one was a promotional set, with the river raft). And the orange motorcycle is lovely, at least to my eyes. One I will get for sure

TLC.. PLEASE, don't give us any more siege machines!!! :)

Ok... I've been reading this thread for too long without posting some opinions. Personally, I think we are making way too much especulation. The problem is that, most of it is based purely on our hopes, like and dislikes... and this is were it's turning completely unreal. Lets try to see it from a production and economic perspective. Designing and producing a new LEGO batch of sets, takes between six months and a year, depending on wether new molds are introduced or not (consider that each new mold has to undergo a long process of testing and development). This means that, what we will get in 2009 was designed during 2008 (in an expansive economic scenario), previous to the huge economic crisis the world is undergoing right now. That's why we are getting the whole pirate line and such a huge number of new molds (in my memory, this is the biggest batch of new molds in years). I am sure that during the first half of 2009 we will be getting REALLY GREAT sets. The second half is another story... If you consider the economic crash started in november (when sets for the second half of 2009 were being designed) most surely, on the second half of 2009 we won't be getting new molds nor great sets. Instead, we will either be getting NO NEW sets or sets put together with exisitng stock of pieces (no new molds, no new minifigs nor prints, etc.) At least, this would be the most logical thing a company would do: try to survive and pass the bad moment with what it already has, making as less investment as possible. If you consider that 2009 will be a REALLY unstable year, concerning economics, its mostly probable that this policy will extend to 2010 sets (as they will be designed during the crisis, with little investment). So, in my opinion, and as sad as it is to me too, I think we should forget of getting Elves or ANY other new faction or molds till 2011. I'm sad to sound pesimistic, but that's my humble opinion... just my to cents. Cheers to all from Argentina!!!

THE OLD Official Eurobricks Straightshooters List
frogstudio replied to The Middleman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Add 1+ for Chris Austin, please... Many thanks for the sets!!! -
I've made about 100 orders on Bricklink and I am very satisfied with the experience. I usually buy from a few sellers and I have had some errors in my orders. There is a seller who always confuses 4 x 1 hinge tiles with 4 x 1 hinge plates, so, when I have to order this kind of pieces, I choose another seller. I've also received some bley pieces among light gray ones and a couple of really scratched bricks (never bought again from those sellers), specially when it comes to transparent pieces. In total, I've bought around 20.000 pieces... so, having 10 to 20 erros in that amount isn't too much.

Well.. I've got some interesting ancestors if I go back in time. I'll start with my grandfather. He was a militar pilot and was the one to fly to South America the first planes with retractable wheels. This was a funny story. As all the pilots where used to have fixed wheels... they all made a perfect landing in front of President Peron... but forgot to take out the landing gear!!!! Needless to say, they all spent several weeks in detention. He was also friend to the famous German WWII ace, Adolf Galland. He also was the person who flew from France the Super Etandard jets which, during the Malvinas War, sunk the Sheffield (bringing those planes, was his last military mission, and then went on to fly civil aircrafts). Going further in time, one of my ancestors was part of the "Primera Junta", which were the guys who declared the independance of Argentina in 1810. Going even further, another one of my ancestors was the "Adelantado Don Pedro de Mendoza", one of the first Spaniards to arrive to America, and on the other hand I have an Inca princess in my genealogy, so I can proudly say I'm deeply rooted to this beloved continent. And last, even further in time, my ancestors fought against the moors in the Spanish "Reconquista" and this is how my family got it's coat of arms back in the middle ages (in fact, the shield shows a knight's arm with a sword, stabbing a saracen). :)

What New Themes or Sets would you like TLG to make?
frogstudio replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This I see possible... :) Maybe as the Jubille set for this year. This is just my opinion. -
I can't really understand that fixation with the yellow castle... I mean, thinking of it as the "classic" LEGO castle, when in fact, it was the ONLY castle to be built that way. Personally, I think that the Black Falcon's Fortress reflects more the "Classic Lego Castle" and REALLY hope that TLG won't go the way of the yellow one (wouldn't mind if it was re-released as a collectors item). Just my thoughts...
-
Sorry, but what has this to do with the actual topic? Just as any Castle from the 80's or early 90's. I don't really understand this kind of critic to LEGO castles. All LEGO castles have been built like this exept for one, 375 Yellow Castle.... and hat was 30 years ago!!! (Many of us weren't even born by then... I was only 4 years old) It is ment for kids!!! Its a TOY... I always find this king of critics are like saying "I'm completely pissed off that Baby Gap doesn't release that lovely boy suit in XXL size!!!" Just my thoughts, not meant to be taken as an agression. Cheers!!! :)

I love them. In fact, this isn't new. There used to be these kind of Robots in Classic Space set. Just some examples in sets 1968, 6783, 6802, 6807, 6872, 6891, 6931 and 6952. You can find itructions at Peeron. Cheers...

A bit out of topic, but could we all try not to refer to the States as America? America is a continent, not a country, and is much bigger. Calling the States or their inhabitants "Americans" is the same as calling Germany Europe.... :) Don't mean to be rude, but its something that just annoys me, being an Argentinian, and thus, also being an American. :) About the topic, we should start to lear mandarin... in a few years that will be the international language... but lets keep the forums in english for now. :)

What type of cracks and where? Could you post a picture and be a bit more specific? Are they old minifigs or brand new ones? I've had some cracked minifigs, but these were mainly really old ones (20 + years) but never happened in new ones.

Show us or tell us about your Album collection?
frogstudio replied to hollisbrick's topic in Community
Well, got to admit I'm a music maniac. Besides collecting Lego, I also love collecting music. I've got several albums in multiple formats (CD, LP, Cassette, MD and Picture Disc). Last time I counted them, there were 1278 albums (just CDs) in my shelves, covering many types of music: classical, Ethnic, Heavy Metal, Pop, Symphonic Rock, Rock, Reggae, Jazz, Blues, Grunge and so many others... Favourite bands... The Beatles, Marillion, Genesis, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floys and Alice in Chains. :) Last year, I thought of taking some vacations in order to listen to all of my music.... I realized I needed 120 days (at and 8 HS basis) in order to do it!!!! Yes, but putting the LP on the record player and placing the needle over it is just one of life's greatest pleasures!!!! It's the best thing to do!!! My nephew is 4 and sings along Vertigo by U2!!!! He must have problems at scholl though... Sorry about the double post... -
What book are you reading right now?
frogstudio replied to Norrington's topic in Culture & Multimedia
