  1. You're probably in the second batch category - meaning you have one reserved but won't ship until the given date. They're processing those orders that cane before yours, or not needing a first order validation. Did you put in your order at S@H when it was "out of stock, will ship on x date"?I ordered mine while it was still showing "now in stock", and yet I still got the backorder email. Now it looks like I'm stuck in the "In Processing" stage. I'm still waiting for "Shipping" and I'm thinking I won't get it shipped this week, being Friday and all.
  2. Exactly! The worst that could happen is they don't fulfill your order. Your credit card doesn't get charged until they ship. I would try to get one now at this price (even if it takes 3 to 6 more weeks to ship) because this is the lowest it is ever going to be. If you really want one, I wouldn't go the evilbay/BL and get shafted up the big behind just yet.
  3. Okay, I'll put my thoughts here from the review topic just to keep the conversation going.... Did you get a shipping notice yet for your freebie? And are you a first time buyer on S@H? That could be why... My status for the freebie shipped out yesterday and the BOSS crawler now went from "back ordered" to "In Process". Saw that my credit card has been charged too. So hopefully the next step is shipping for 41999. FYI, I ordered at midnight in the westcost USA and was in back ordered limbo until this morning at 9:00 am.

  5. My status now shows "Partial shipment balance on backorder". The freebie mini mech shipped but the Crawler is still on back order. I hope this means I'm at least guaranteed a set.
  6. Nah, I won't even bother. This has been all kinds of crazy and I don't want to drive to the nearest Lego store only to be rejected again. it's all good though, I have two 9398s and I think I can just build this version in black once the instructions comes out.. So no real skin off my back.
  7. I'm from California and ordered one at exactly midnight my time (west coast, PST) and s@h said it was still in stock. I didn't realize that it probaly went in stock at 9pm my time because we are 3 hours behind New York/east coast. I did receive a confirmation at 12:34 am PST notifying me of them receiving my order and another email at 12:38 of the "out of stock" variety and "will ship later". I checked my order status online by clicking on the link and my order status shows "In Process", 41999 on "back order" with the freebie mini mech "in process". Does this mean I have a set reserved and will be shipped later? Just to not be totally bummed later on if they don't fulfill my order, I am preparing myself to be S#!t out of luck - because of not realizing that midnight USA may have actually meant 9 pm my time. Effing timezones!
  8. Impressive! Love the way it doesn't stall out and spins its wheels like a real rock bouncer! I wish I had the time to build one of these...
  9. Wow! I'm impressed! That looks great and I can't wait to see it perform! Will you be putting out instructions?
  10. That performs great through your obstacle course! I wonder how this model would perform with unmodded motors?
  11. Looking good so far Doc! I look forward to seeing how your projects progress.
  12. The V2 IR receivers for each motor makes a world of difference.
  13. Looks Good Doc! Looks like a rock bouncer... I am anticipating the video also and want to see the performance. I might have to try something like this since I do have a few of those NXT motors laying around. Just never got into messing with the NXT when I got the set as a present a few years ago. Now I have a reason to salvage it.
  14. Here you go Tim. Just shot a quick vid so no fancy video editor stuff... Don't know if this will work:
  15. Interesting thread. I may have to try this for one of my 9398s, since it's relegated mainly for display...
  16. I don't like modifying lego rims. For me, I would alter the tire first over the rims so that I can still tire swap with the standard lego tires later. The Giant Pullers work just as well (maybe better) as the Lego PP tires. Servo motors from 9398 seem to have no problems steering it, and if anything, seems to turn better compared to the PPs since the tires weigh less. Medium motors geared down for torque will have no problems either (was turning fine in Zblj's Panther). As with any wide® tire, the turning radius is decreased but that is a given if you're going for the monster truck look.
  17. The tire is the stadard 1.9 inside diameter that fits the 44772 rim, so no modifications to the rims or tire. I chose these tires for the weight, 67 g, and because they were on sale at RC4WD.
  18. Heh. These are my go to tires now for performance, but the Giant Pullers can still be used for display.
  19. As requested by DLuders from the Panther thread. Here are quick shots of the 1.9 Dick Cepek Giant Puller tires, which can be a cheap alternative to buying the (now) very expensive TLG Power Puller tires and rims. Here are a few quick shots of getting the 44772 rims to fit in the the Dick Cepek Giant Puller tires (DGGP) + comparisons with TLG's Power Puller tires (PP) - (again, I apologize before hand for the large images since I'm still getting used to this forum/board): Notice that the DCGP tires are slightly smaller (outer diameter) than the PPs, but is wider (for wider stances). The DCGP tires weigh around 127 g, almost half of the PPs 240 g. Please note that you will need to use two 44772 rims for each tire which adds about 30 grams for each tire (still way less than the power puller + rim combined which IIRC is around 240 grams total). These pics shows the inner sleeve that will need to be trimmed for two 44772 rims to fit in the tire (before and after). You can use scissors to cut the sleeve and then use nail clippers (that are curving outwards or convexed) to clean up the jagged edges left behind from the cut. Word of warning though, since these tires are so expensive and you don't want to screw up by cutting the wrong sleeve causing your tire threads to not be oriented the way you want it - ensure to check that you are cutting the correct sleeve because you want the threads to be oriented forward. Note that the side with the sleeve removed will not look as plumped as the side with the sleeve. It's a fairly easy cut. Just cut along the groove between the sleeve and the tire wall. You may need to use an axle rod to keep the rims from slipping in the tire when driving, but with the inner foam these tires these come with, I doubt that will happen. The tire's rubber feels really stiff, so you may need to really play with the fit to get both 44772 rims in there. These tires can be ordered from RC4WD.com and currently go for $24.99 for a pair (you will need to buy 2 sets for 4 tires).
  20. Here's a pic of the lighter Crazy Krawler 1.9 tires along with the 12t/20t gears in the portal hubs. I like the speed this new set up is generating and also enjoy the new off roading capabilities, like kicking up dirt from the sudden burst of accelaration. Trully a perfect balance of torque and speed. This crawler really feels like a rock bouncer now...
  21. Thanks Boxerlego. I'm looking forward to your monster truck also. The inspiration for the frame were those rock bouncers and the formula offroaders, I'm glad you and Zblj noticed. I took pics of the new tires last night and just waiting for my folder to go public on brickshelf, kinda looks like a rock bouncer now. Thanks for the kind words. Sure does. Speed is almost on par also with the 12/20t in the portal hubs. Thanks again Zblj. Glad I could help. I love monster trucks also and the main reason I got the Dick Cepek tires was originally for the 9398. Pics will come soon for the comparison with the PP tires and what the sleeve looks like (to trim).
  22. Thanks DLuders for the welcome. Yes they are the Dick Cepek Giant Pullers from RC4WD. Though expensive, they are a good (and cheaper) alternative to Lego's power puller tires and at almost half the weight of the Lego Power Puller tires. The only drawbacks are the Dick Cepek tire is slightly smaller than the PP tire and the inner sleeve of each tire will need to be trimmed for two 44772 rims/wheels to fit (making sure to cut the correct sleeve for the thread pattern to always be oriented forward). I will take some comparison shots with the PPs when I can and post in the approriate thread.
  23. Hi guys, Sorry to bump up an old thread. Newb at Technic after 20 years of my dark ages - but I've been lurking here for a while. I just wanted to show off my crawler (calling it Tarantula because of the tires) built around Zblj's Panther chassis. I may have went overboard with the roll cage but I like it. Thanks to Zblj for the awesome design - being light weight and extremely fast and having a good balance of weight and power! The way it is geared right now is that it is powerful enough for the Dick Cepek power puller tires (each having two 44772 rims). I just ordered the lighter Krazy crawler tires from RC4WD and will switch to using 12t/20t to see if it performs faster with decent torque. You can also check out other pics at brickshelf: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=527946. I apologize before hand for the large image (if it shows)... Like I said, I'm new at posting here...
