Eurobricks Collectable LEGO Minifigures Series 5 Building Contest
Etzel replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Here is my entry: Theme: Town - Recreation Minifig: Snowboarder The snowboarder and his girlfriend (also a snowboarder) are on holiday in the mountains. After a long day outside in the snow they can now relax in front of the fire, sipping hot cocoa with whipped cream and marshmallows. -

Hm, it appears you are right. Well, I'm gonna leave my vote standing anyway, Dorothea's swaying in opinions are still suspicious I think. -

You're not even putting up a fight? I guess that means the day is almost up and I still haven't voted. Well, not that it is much to go on but I don't like how Dorothea was a strong accuser of both Patricia and Barnabo, and then changed really quick to Gingeroono. I will Vote: Dorothea (Darthnihilius) -

hmpf, seems like a lot of you are really quick to trim one's sails for every wind. At this moment I got no idea who killed Houdini and neither of you have either unless you're the one who killed him. You are just scared that someone will suggest your name, so therefore you happily jump on the bandwagon to vote of someone else without any real clues. Fear controls you, and that is just what the murderers wants. When you are to scared to speak your own voice and just follows the group it's easy for the murderers to join in undetected. I won't vote yet. I'll wait until I have an opinion of my own. There is still plenty of time to ponder on this event. -
The trespasser must be some sort of demon.

Just as Ennoc, the Righteous Light, had foretold Maurice Ratibor was chosen for a quest. Appearently, the god of justice and honesty had also favoured the strange dark mage that had stumbled into Maruice. The other two in the party were unknown to him, but he hoped they would be honourable and devoted heroes. "If just the barbarian knows how to behave in such civilized place as the Academy of Enlightenment I'm sure we will do fine" said Maruice to himself.

Mafia School: Cirque du Freak: Day 1
Etzel replied to badboytje88's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I would say it's nothing to go on. I mean, anyone of us could have had such motive. I think we need to focus on what people actually have said and how they have behaved since Madam Mitsie told us about the awful news. I think a murderer would be quick to try and frame and blame someone else for his crime, but not many accusations have been done yet. This is a difficult mission Madam Mitsie has given us. -
Thanks guys! I think this picture shows it the best: The trans-clear cheese slopes are stacked on top of each other, alternating up-side-down and right way. The trans-yellow ones are put together in 3 diamond shapes that together forms a hexagon. I used a large panel behind the window when I built it to make sure it stayed in place. You should check out Katie Walker's photostream, she is the real star of cheese slopes. The minifigs are supposed to be members of the Paladin Order but there wasn't much room to place them once the MOC was ready . I also built some novices or apprentices but they never made it to the spotlight. I wouldn't mind building more from Eubric but I don't want to destroy anyone's quest with building something they was planning to do. I guess I better hurry up and become a quest master myself

I would answer no on all those questions. LEGO has improved in almost every level the latest 5-6 years I think. Their greater interest and respect to the AFOLs (Adult fan of LEGO) is one important thing that comes to mind. I can't really feel any nostalgia for 2004 though since that was during my dark age but even the period before that seems less interesting then today.

Maybe you're right! How do you know that, Patricia? More importantly, did you kill Houdini? Since Madam Mitsie used a plural form when talking about our current situation I believe looking for several killers would be wise. Someone who hasn't been careful would be you, Dorothea. Why did you burn Tora's cards? Are you hiding something the cards would have shown? -
Mafia School: Cirque du Freak: Day 1

How horrible! Who can have done such thing?! Poor Houdini Jr., the world and especially our circus have lost a great artist. -
Maurice watched suspiciously when the man who called himself En Sabah Nur walked over to sit at the bar. "Just weak from hunger?" he thought to himself. Well, I guess it can be hard to find food around in the city these days but here at Heroica there seems to be plenty of it. I'm not sure if that man is speaking all the truth in this matter, better be careful. Maurice walked over to the other end of the bar and caught a loose phrase of someone talking about throwing weapons. What a stupid idea! he thought to himself. If you have a weapon you should always keep your hands on it, not go lobbying scimitars over at somebody.
-
When Maurice had reached the top the stairs a dark man grabbed his arm and ask for his name. Before he had time to answer the man retched back with wide open eyes and mouth. When Maurice turned to him he saw the man on his knees with a strange expression in his face. "My name is Maurice Ratibor. Is something wrong?" Maurice was on his guard, he knew all sorts of people and creatures were to be found in Heroica and some you did best to avoid a fight with.

Thanks for your kind comments everyone! I believe there are some close-ups in my Flickr photostream. It's only the back window really that is somewhat interesting with its cheese slopes but it's not that complicated, just stacked them. The rest of the windows is just clear 1x2s with dk blue plates between. I should thank you for coming up with the Heroica game and giving me the inspiration. It's a great game and I really wanted to build something for it even though I can't host a quest yet. I'm very happy you liked it and feel it fits with the whole theme. I guess I'll keep it together for a while then. Looks like Maurice Ratibor will go on a quest soon and after that anything is possible Thanks! Sure, one can't avoid being inspired by Katie's work with cheese slopes. But my window is a very simple build, I need to try something more challenging with them soon. We haven't really seen that much of Eubric... This could be in a particularly rich part of town that is kept well maintained, not in the slums. Kadabra got it quite right. Looking at the map over Eubric I picture it with a more wealthy part to the north west around the Hinckwell's Villa and more slum and dirty down at the harbour to the south and east. And corruption means that a lot of money is going somewhere. There are rumours about the Paladin Order not being as righteous as they claim...

Back at the Heroica Hall Maurice went up the stair to the pub and looked around to see if anyone of the heroes had an empty seat at their table. Meditation time was over, now it was time to socialize!

Mafia School: Cirque du Freak C&D

Don't worry, Barnabo. We'll just do as on the rehearsal when you were great! I'm sure you're going to make it. I should know, being your assistant and all. I had the same problem so I downloaded the pic and uploaded it myself as an avatar. -

Elasti Elisabeth makes an agile entrance to the ring. "I'm ready for the show!" -
Maurice noticed that many experienced heroes had recently returned from their quests and filled up the hall. The conversations were many and loud. Maurice wanted to focus on his meditation to make sure he would be in as good form as possible in case he was chosen to a quest. But as the hall became more and more crowded he saw the futility in this. Instead he found it best to go and sign his interest in another quest that had been posted on the board: Maurice Ratibor signs up for Quest #10: Extra-Curricular Activities "Education is important and I would be proud to help ensure the Academy's high reputation and catch the misbehaviours. But I see that many heroes already have reported their interest. I might need some divine help to get a place in the quest." Maurice Ratibor decided he would go visit the Temple of Ennoc and pray to the god of justice and honesty to improve his chances. (shameless self-promotion of my Heroica MOC )

Inspired by the Heroica RPG in play here on the forum. The Temple of Ennoc is the main sanctuary of the Paladin Order. Ennoc, the Righteous Light, is the god of justice and honesty and his defenders are the great and noble knights and clerics of the Paladin Order. Temple of Ennoc by Etzel87, on Flickr More on Flickr. Thanks for watching!

The Underwater Version Contest Voting
Etzel replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
3. Ninja Nin's Underwater Bank & Money Transfer - 1 point 6. wuntin's The Sunken Castle - 3 points 10. Spacy Smoke's Sunken City Corner - 1 point Good job! -
"A team is only as strong as its weakest member. Just Rangers and Rouges want be enough once they've gotten some hits, there is clearly a need for a cleric in this quest. I will sign up for Quest #9: Trespassers." Maurice Ratibor wrote down his name on the board. The quest sounded like a honorable job, catching poachers would help bring much needed law and order in Eubric. What he had heard about the Hinckwells was mostly good but he had learned to be careful trusting the big houses in the city. Above all this quest was a way for Maurice to put his newly learned abilities in practice.

I'm interested 1. Well, yes. But only before the sign up closes (tomorrow and on Monday) so that shouldn't be a problem. 2. No 3. An escape artist named Escapel. -
OK, then I'll drop my case. And since I'm a cleric myself maybe that's for the best

The clerics special ability is still there, I just want it to be an ability that affects others and not themselves. If most people in a team has a potion then they could give them to the cleric if he/she heals them. Team work Well, I haven't read that much about mages but if it is so that they can use magic on their selves I see that as a bit strange too. And that a knocked-out cleric shouldn't be able to heal himself or any other I think is pretty obvious, but that was exactly what happened in Quest #8 that first got me thinking about it. If a cleric can heal himself that gives him too much advantage I think, sort of like the previous version of the barbarian's ability. The risk of running out of ether isn't that high I think. When the heroes have been on some quests and gathered up some gold they could easily stock up on tonics that aren't very expensive in the market.
-
I have a question: Can clerics really heal themselves after being wounded (as being practiced in Quest #8)? I think that is bit strange, like lifting yourself in the hair. I would prefer it if they couldn't and were required to either drink a potion or be healed by another cleric. That would increase the use of potions (which happens very rarely at the moment) and encourage more interaction between the players.
