Really good! I love how it's stuffed with great details like the candles and the napkin.

I too find this topic very interesting. Joebot makes a really good point here: I think it's really strange of LEGO to make those sets in MM, SPIII and Power Miners. I'm also concerned about so many themes are build on violent conflicts. Don't get me wrong - I don't want all conflict-based themes to go away but I'm surprised that there is so many. Love, peace and understanding on! And concerning the screaming female minifig heads I think LEGO really needs to make more female minifigs with a large variation on faces and expressions. Then the problem would be solved

I find it hard to compare present themes with the old ones. The nostalgic feeling of classic sets can often make those sets seem better then they are and new sets with parts that didn't existed before can be seen in the same way. Therefore I will only use present themes in my list. Best themes 1. Castle. I have a strong interest in history and especially the medieval times. The sets are often focused on buildings and with a lot of opportunities to great MOCing. A lot of the pieces has earthly colours that is goo for landscaping and there is a good amount of different minifigs. 2. Pirates. About the same reasons as Castle. The buildings aren't really good but the minifigs are truly amazing! 3. Creator. This theme is so LEGO! I regret that I don't have that much sets from this theme because I think it I would enjoy it more then. The classic idea of alternative models and a large number of different pieces. I think the sets are beautiful and very well designed. The only thing that has prevent me from getting them is the lack of minifigs. It would of course look completely ridiculous with minifigs in Creator and I don't want LEGO to make such sets, but since I am a minifig-lover I often choose other sets. Worst themes (where 1 is worst in case anyone was confused by others lists (I was ) ) 1. Bionicle. Yes I will explain why . First, I don't like the concept of action figures. They are made for playing and I don't play with my LEGO. I build. Second. The pieces are (almost) impossible to use in my MOCs. I mostly build minifig scaled MOC, like buildings and landscape scenes and I can't see where I can have use of Bionicle pieces. In my opinion Bionicle parts are just good for building large robot-looking-monsters. Now, I don't own any Bionicle myself so some might say I'm not in the position to criticize the theme. But why on earth would I buy a set that I don't like and can't use? If someone can show my examples of good MOCs with bionicle parts I might change my mind, but this far the only Bionicle MOCs I've seen have been the same kind of strange looking robot-monsters. 2. Racers. OK, the minicars looks ok to my, except all those stickers But the bigger ones are really ugly. They don't even look like cars to me! And all these stupid play features: Slam Action! Fold Out Race Track! Motor Action! It just makes me tired. I don't want to play, I want to build! 3. Power Miners. Worst. Colour Scheme. Ever. And just a bunch of ugly looking vehicles with large unuseable pieces. The back story is also really bad, can't figure out how anyone could't came up with such silly story. Small monsters living in caves deep inside the earth suddenly starts to cause earthquekes that threatens the world? Come on. There are other themes I'm not really fond of, like Mars Mission, Agents, Star Wars and Technic but I want go on about them now. It would be a very negative post then. Other themes that I do like is Indiana Jones (despite the fleshies) and City. I hope I haven't been to whining. LEGO is still the best. Edit: some spelling mistakes.

I think you are mixing up the themes. Knights Kingdom featured no jelly bean heros, that was Knights Kingdom II. I think KK1 was quite good, the minifigs was alright and some of the smaller sets like this and this was not bad. The big castle wasn't really good though. But KK2 was bad (one reason for my dark age) and I think the main reason was, as many others has said, the stupid colours of the minifigs. Another thing I didn't liked was that there was no ordinary soldiers. Everything was based on those ugly knights and their fight with the evil vladek. And why? Why? Why? Why did they have to include a catapult in every single set? It's really annoying! Also, pieces like this one brings down the grade a lot.

Here is my latest module that I've been working on lately, The Beggars Shacks: When living on the edge of starvation, accidents like this are not affordable. This boy is trying to help bringing food to the table by catching this Lesser Black-backed Gull Yes, I included a bird in this MOC too The right side... ...that opens up! Brickshelf Gallary when public I hope you like it! /Etzel

Great armies you got there, medieval_total_lego. I love that the wolfpack clan has wardogs, I haven't seen that before.

Great pictures of hte new sets! Space police and Agents sure are getting alot of sets. Don't think I will pick up any beside the smallest one though. I'm definitely getting the camper because of that great hairpiece. The picture of trolls mountain fortress was hard to tell much from, I think I'll wait until someone has posted a review about it before I decide. Well, now all we can do is wait...a long time

This one is also frequently occurring in 08/09 sets: I think it's a good head but multitude is always welcome. I would really like some more female heads for example.

These new of magnet sets aren't like those before. The minifigs are totally normal and useable. The magnet sits in the brick that the minifigs are standing on, and they aren't glued to that brick either.

There is a new magnet set for the City theme up on S@H: LEGO® CITY Hero Magnet Set

Nice find Wouwie! It's really good that the Pirates gets a magnet set too. The minifigs are good but I think the soldier is unnecessary when there is a impulse set with it. I would've loved to see the admiral in this set, or at least an officer with a tricorne. The pirate isn't perfect either since it is the same torso as in the impulse but it is a good head and a parrot is always nice. Captain Brickbeard is the main reason to buy this set IMHO. His torso is just

It's up on S@H for all countries except USA and Canada, but it's not available yet. There is no price set either but I would be very surprised if it isn't the same as VMC I.

Thank you! I really like your entry too. A great idea! -
This is certainly interesting. I never had the chance to get the red ninja and the pirate is nice to. An improvement from the first one, at least for all history interested peoples.

Buttons, the question was about Brickshelf, not Bricklink

EB Community Castle Build: Discussion Thread

Yes, that was what I intended to do. Sorry for being unclear, the module will be 16x16 but I hope to include at least two little shelters in "favela"-style. -
EB Community Castle Build: Discussion Thread
Etzel replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Hi! I've been thinking about what I will build next and I've looked through the list in the first post some times. Something I feel is missing in this castle is the bottom of the social stratification, the poorest of the poor, the beggars. Therefore I'm planning name my next module the "Beggar's Block". I hope you didn't was planning to build this to, I Scream Clone Here is a little teaser of the beggars that will be in the module: I will start building tomorrow, there will surely be some shanty houses and lots of rats in this module -

Here is my entry, a rocking chair -
A very good review. thank you Brickster! I'm not going to get this set but I liked to read your review anyway to see what I'm missing Sure there are some things I would like to get, like the cows, tan parts and tan fedora but I just can't buy such a expensive set just to get those pieces. The best detail in this set IMHO is the nesting boxes on the stable and barn, very nice touch

I think you're wrong about the price. The magnet set is already available in Sweden S@H and for just 94.50SEK which are $11.35. And considering that lego is more expensive in Sweden than in US (mostly due to taxes) I think the price will be $10. I'm not really into SW but I'm thinking of getting this magnet set because of the cool hairpiece Dooku has, and the torso is nice also.

I'm very jealous at your sigfig just now. Walking around and "diving" in the snow, oh the happiness and joy he must feel. I hate living in such a snow-less place.

I got one, from 6273 Rock Island Refuge. But I'm planning to get a couple of more from bricklink. I'm going to use them as Russian soldiers in an upcoming MOC.

Nice poll, very interesting to see peoples choices. It seems to be very even. My choice is the cutlass. Fencing on!
