Set Name: Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol. 2 Set Number: 852535 Pieces: 22 Minifigs: 5 Price: EUR €14.99, GBP £11.75, USD $17.99 (SEK 149.50) Year if release: 2009 That's the usual info - now I pass the word on to Mr. Horn, the mail man of LEGO City: Hello everybody! My name is Mr. Horn but you can call me Ed. I'm a retired mail man from LEGO City and I'm here today to introduce some of my friends... as soon as we all have climbed out of this tight fitting box. Come on, Captain Dusk! It's not that high! I don't know... Will you catch me? Sure, come hear you big boy! Uncle Ancors strong arms will take care of you. Ouff! Mmm, do you like to be on top? What!? Come on guys, get up already so I can introduce us. You can cuddle later. So, now we can start. We are the Vintage Minifigures Volume 2. I've heard rumours about some Vol. 1 minifigs but I've never seen anyone myself. It's most likely just a myth, like the Loch Ness monster, Big Foot and fair S@H PaB prices. I've heard of a guy who saw that. Fair S@H PaB prices? Really? No stupid, Big Foot of course! He he, you know what they say about big feet and big... By the way, what is your shoe size, Cpt. Dusk? Eehh... shall we get along with the introduction perhaps? Oh, right! Here we have Lieutenant Snow, a long time astronaut with great experiences from outer space. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his flowers. How are you today Lt Snow? Thank you, Ed, I'm very well today. I felt really comfortable in the box when we were travelling, and the trip went much faster then I expected. I suppose you are used to these kind of travels from your job? I was not equally pleased with the trip, it was no room for moving. I liked it. It was dark and tight and sweaty...just like you Cpt. Dusk. Excuse me?! I was just referring to your outfit, latex isn't it? Must be really hot in there... Look, NASA picked those uniforms not I. Would you stop breathing in my neck, please? You should get one of these jump suits in Lycra instead. They are really cool! Lets continue with the presentation. Next we have Captain Dusk, another Space veteran with expert knowledge in Black holes. Hey, I know a lot about that too! You do? Are you into astronomy? No, but I've been into many holes, some black too... Eh, right... So, Cpt Dusk, what do you think about the trip? It was ok, I've been on worse. Like that time I was going to the Ice Planet, I had to drink only hot cocoa for a year after that. I think I was on that trip too, but I don't remember anything from it. That is because you got deep frozen by those Ice Planet dudes. We defrosted you when we got back to the Space Station. Oh, I see. You didn't bring any souvenirs, did you? Just some Ice Cube Trays, and just blue ones. "but everyone knows ice cubes made from the original yellow tray taste better" Well, that's just CRAZY! Why would ice cubes from the yellow tray taste better? It's really simple but of course you can have trouble understand that. After all you are only a mail man. Hey! Delivering mail is a really important job! Sure it is. I bet you go to a special school for 10 years just like we astronauts do. Well, no but... Then shut up, we highly educated people can speak for you. Don't you want me to continue with the presentation? Yes, do that. It's a task suitable for your IQ of 74... That's not my IQ, that is Ra... Just do the presentation OK, next up is Mr. Ancor. I believe you have been in the Pirate buisness, can you share us some stories, matey? Arrgh, surely lads! But I need to cut this pirate talking, it's not good for my vocal cords. It's OK. Did you do much pillaging when you were a pirate, Mr. Ancor? Oh yes! We had a big rise in number of villages that were sacked and burnt in October and November last year. That sure was fun! But now you have retired. I guess the age was taking out it's right at last. What? I'm not that old! And my physique is at the best, I'll show you! Well, it isn't necessary... Look, can you do this? I bet you can't! Wow, you really are in good shape! Of course, I work out 2 times a day. Come here and feel my six pack. That is ok. Do you mind getting up now? OK, but I want your hat. My hat? Why? I can't do these kind of shows for free, can I? Well, maybe not but why my hat? I like it, and you said I was old. Now give me it! OK, here you go. Take good care of it, it's been like an old friend for me. Sure, I will only wear it when I'm on parties, swimming with sharks and fighting Imperials. Ed, your hair is really weird. How do you get the hair so flat? What is so weird with that? My barber said it is the standard look for all men. Well, in the 1970's perhaps. Welcome to the 21th century, man. We don't have to look all the same any more, there are a lot of different hairstyles to choose from. Look, it fits perfect! Yes, really nice. Now drop your pants, Cpt. Dusk! Say what?! You have to pay for the show too. Give me your pants! You know, I never distrusted you about being in shape. Why should I pay? OK, OK, but I really want your pants. Maybe we can trade? I can't I'm not a Civilian yet. They have changed the rules now actually. Oh, that's great...I think. I have this MISB bandana to trade for your pants. MISB? What does that mean? Made In Some Basement. My own actually. Well OK then. But you better put me up on the straightshooter list for this. OK, I'll go round the corner and change. No peeking, please! Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on Mr. Ancor. How is it going back there? Hold on, I'm working on it! I can give you a hand if you like... No, stay where you are! Sigh, I look like a dork in this outfit. No I think it...eh...matches your eyes...or something. You look dashing, now give me the pants. Hey, are you not going behind the corner? No way, I'm not as prudish as Cpt. Dusk. Well, I guess we just look the other way then. Hey, where is Lt. Snow? Probably taking a break from all this CRAZINESS, good thinking. Take a look at this, gentlemen! Holy crap! You are by sure the most gay minifigure in history! At last, I have reached one of my two goals! What is the other? It's funny that you ask, Cpt. Dusk because it involves you...and an eggplant and a Batman suit. I don't think I want to hear more about that. Hey, can I take your pants? This bandana isn't very comfortable to wear as a skirt. Sure, I'm happy with these new latex pants. OK, be right back. Look, I've done some thinking. Take it easy, buddy. Don't stress yourself. Shut up! Listen to this. There are 5 spaces in the box for us minifigs. Yeah, I know. We've spend the latest 5 days in them. But there is only 4 of us here! 4? You and me are only 2. No, I meant all of us. Cpt. Dusk and Lt. Snow too. Dusk and Snow only makes 2 too. What is your point? Argh! I mean that there is 1 minifig missing! I don't know what you mean, your math doesn't make any sense. Are you sure you haven't tasted the strawberry ice cream? I've heard it can lead to numerical blindness. Don't you at least find it strange that Lt. Snow is gone? No, he probably just went to take a leak. We've been in that box for 5 days you know. Well, true. But shouldn't he be back by know. You know Lt. Snow, he probably saw some obscure flower that he needed to have a chat with. Good point, there has been a lot of flowers and spring feeling in the air lately. But I feel we should check him out anyway. There might have been an accident. Yeah, all those SW vehicles that are swooshing around are really dangerous. I think I stay here. Lt. Snow! What has happend to you! You look like someone dropped a minifig scale HMS Victory on you! Or maybe a VOC ship Prins Willim! Aaaahhh, the Fifth minifig! It is true! Well, I guess this is the end. Remember kids, never share a box with a ninja if you have gases. What goes around, comes around!

Those are really good! Nice variation and great detail! But unfortunately I can't print decals and I actually prefers the purist way But I sure would like to see those decals on some minifigs
-
Magnificent! I love all the great details and fantastic techniques. Just for example, the vulture in this picture Clicky Brilliant!

Thank you! It's not likely that I will expand the army, I'm not really a big army builder. I just want a decent number of soldiers to make some good battlefield MOCs (I've got some ideas). Besides that there is the financial issue, the figure with the blue torso is really expensive - cheapest price on BrickLink is $4! But maybe if prices goes down... Thank you, Sir Wellington! I don't know if there a special name, The torso is from this minifig that's called Pirate Blue Jacket on BrickLink. Comes from this set. I like your army too, it has much variation despite it's numbers Great job!

What Does Your April Fool Do For A Living VOTING!

1 Why make it harder... -
My BL order arrived today and I can now proudly present my Swedish Carolean army from the late 17th century/early 18th century: I know, it's not very big but it is the first Swedish army in the index I also have a small Russian army so my caroleans would have someone to fight Not the most accurate uniforms but it's good enough for me

I guess it's because everyone wants to be the one who makes "the great discovery" so they say "-I saw it first!" when the news are official But I agree with you, there is no chance of Adventures coming back as long we got IJ, no matter how many "signs" we find. I feel really split in which theme I like the most between those This years IJ sets are really good but the Adventures will always have a certain place in my heart

Hi there! A while ago I posted my version of the pirate set 6242 Soldier's Fort that I'd turned into the medieval times. That MOC got lot of positive comments so I decided to try the same thing with another set, the Volcano Base from the Agents theme. Before I'd seen the picture of the upcoming Troll's Mountain Fortress I thought that that set might look a little like this MOC actually. A lot of brown pieces and lava coming down on the sides. But I'm not disappointed at the real set that we are going to get, it looks really nice :) Anyway, enough talking, lets bring on those pictures! More pictures can be found on my Brickshelf (when moderated) or Flickr Thank you for watching, I hope you liked it It you have opinions or comments please post them, I would like to hear what you think of my MOC.

What do you want to see in the next round of the new line?
Etzel replied to martinsuper's topic in LEGO Pirates
I would actually like a small ship rather then a big one Something you can use for merchant ships or fishing boats. I'd like to see some civilian sets in the Pirate line too, a harbour, tavern or something like that. But also a small outpost for the soldiers, something like 6265 Sabre Island perhaps. -
My latest BrickLink order was shipped today. Now I just have too wait.

I guess it's the same with us Swedes, my family is 100% Swedish in at least 7 generations. Quite boring... The term "Caucasian" comes from the theory that Caucasus was the origin of the Indo-European people. So it was Indo-Europeans that was called Caucasians and those could be from Europe, West Asia, North Africa and India and had a wide selection of skin colours. But this term isn't really used any more, at least not in scientific connections, since there was a lot of doubtful racist theories included in this thinking.

Amazing! I had to try that wall technique immediately and it looks really good IRL too. A little unstable but it keeps together if you're careful. There are so many great techniques is this MOC! The trees, the pig(!), the smoke and the little lantern (is that a screwdriver inside?!). I really enjoy looking at your MOCs, SlyOwl. There is always new incredible details to discover every time you look. Oh, the interior is really nice too, the candles, the cow(?) cranium, the... I should stop now before I passes out for being exposed to too much awesome MOCing...

My votes are as follow: I Scream Clone - 2 Guss - 2 Infomaniac - 1 NeoKross - 1 Majek - 1 Great work by all of you!

I can really see TLG make a Greek mythology line with all the heroes and monsters. I think this would sell very well amongst the kids and AFOL alike. A theme like that would be much like the Viking one but hopefully with a little less stupid vehicles. I don't think the vehicles are the key factor if kids like the set or not, the important thing is the play factor in total. By including a vehicle TLG provides playability very easy, as long as there is something to drive around with the kids will be pleased. But of course kids appreciate other kinds of play feature too, like trap doors, falling rocks, catapults etc. I'm really into history and all that (I'm studying archaeology actually) and would of course love to see a historical accurate theme but I really don't think there will be any in the near future. But I'm not so disappointed by that 'cause I think today's sets brings really good possibilities to create that yourself. The crown knights are really good and the MMV is just perfect If you don't like the orcs or skeletons just leave them out, and their buildings and vehicles are often quite good to use, like the orc siege tower in Tower Raid. In a Greek mythology theme you could do the same, use the good stuff and leave/change the not so good stuff. Some of you suggests a Roman theme and of course that would be wondful But I don't see that coming Klaus-Dieter says that kids probably recognise and are familiar with Romans more than Ancient Greeks. That might be true - in those countries that have been influenced by the Romans in history e.g. Italy, France, Germany, Spain, England. But I don't think that is the way in other countries like the US or Scandinavia. Sure, the historical aspect of the Greeks is little known but the Mythology is really famous. So I guess a Roman theme would be the best if TLG decides going with a historical line but the Greek would be best if it were to be a more fantasy inspired line. Oh, and I think we have to wait quite a time before we see any of these themes, at least 2011 I would guess. But as an old saying in Sweden goes: the one who waits for something good, never waits too long

I also voted no, I think the amount of detail in the modular buildings makes the classic ones look too simple and boring. I'm not a Town-fan and only own some small sets but I've certainly been drooling over pictures of the modular buildings. IMHO they have brought a whole new and fantastic level of LEGO sets

Huge Price Increase for Pick A Brick Items!
Etzel replied to Eurospanol25's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Excuse me, but 400DKK is not $1000. At current rate 400DKK would be $67.38. So I guess you have to recalculate those numbers ;) -
Congratulations! Great birthday presents you got there. There is two actually, but I would really like to see yours too because this set is so awesome it deserves as many reviews as possible

That was a really cool magazine! Very well written and lots of interesting articles. I didn't read all of it now but I might continue tomorrow Thanks for the tip!

What Does Your April Fool Do For a Living CONTEST
Etzel replied to Shadows's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The jester had this CRAZY idea to become a fisherman. But he doesn't have any fishing gear Even though he catches some fish he's friend are still laughing at him. But the jester don't care because he's CRAZY! Pretty cold water in April... BTW, this is a very fun and CRAZY contest! EDIT: I uploaded the wrong picture by accident. Now the right one (with caption) is up -
Great review! I'm happy to see you've started reviewing Castle-sets too Clone O'patra, you're really good at it. I have this set and I think it's quite nice. The Kentis minifig is of course the best thing with it but there is a lot of useful parts in it too. I don't care about that the Rough Knights have yellow legs, I've always figured that it was yellow pants, not bare skin The sails are really wierd, but hey, I bet the kids liked it. And about the oars, I think they are meant to be steering oars, like on viking ships.

B-V-6C Today I bought 7682 Shanghai Chase and I thought Willie's torso had a funny printing at the back. So I experimented a little and came up with this small MOC of a surgery: Thank you for watching :)
-
My favourite 2008 set was 7037 Tower Raid: Great build with a lot of useful parts and 5 minifigs. The price has been raised now but before it was really good. Worst set (that I got) was 5618 Troll Warrior: Ugly cart with one of those stupid flick-fire missiles. I'm not a big fan of the trolls helmet and sword either.

Fantastic! I really like the skeletal side with the veins and arteries A great idea and a great MOC!
