I think the best 08 minifig was the maiden from the Castle Advent Calendar:  The worst minfig was harder to decide. I don't like any of the CW SW minfigs but I don't own any of them so it seems wrong to take them. I think I go with Dr. Inferno instead (which I have). I just think he looks ridiculous with that hair and face.

Thank you for all your positive comments! Like this: I also tried to make brick built legs for the soldier: But I'm not sure about to use them. I prefer moveable legs.

Sure, the more the merrier It would add more variation of armies, suitable for French, American, Swedish and many others. But in fact we got a bluecoat this year, well sort of:

I think everyone that remember the classic era will continue to have Redbeard as the head symbol of LEGO Pirate, but the new pirate fans that hopefully has emerged now will probably hold Brickbeard as the "face" of the pirates. What TLG will do is harder to tell, all their actions are cunningly concealed Just a little note: Brickbeard is actually called Redbeard in Sweden. And Redbeard was called Captain Roger back in the days. Quite confusing I say

Hm, that's a hard one. All are good and useful. But if I have to choose it would be the new red coat. I love that it is so detailed and since I like to make historical mocs I think this will fit perfectly for a Danish soldier. Then my Swedish carolean soldiers will have a classic enemy to fight (a moc showing this will be built as soon as I got my S@H order)

Just a castle MOC I made today. I'm not very experienced at landscaping but I'm quite pleased with this result. The roof design is borrowed but I can't remember from who, sorry The orcs have travelled across the moat on a small raft and are now trying to climb into the castle with a rope. Here is a black woodpecker that seems to have found a lot of wood to peck in The guards aren't really paying attention. Will they discover the orcs before it's to late? Thanks for watching, please leave comments if you like to /Etzel

This was my first System set: I can't remember when I got it but I think all parts are still there although heavily scratched and discoloured.

Vig. 50d Since my S@H order didn't arrive today I thought it would be hard to survive the weekend without a new LEGO set. Therefore I went to the local toy shop and picked up the new 6192 Pirates Building Set (the real pirates ain't coming in shops until March in Sweden ). I really like that set, mainly because of the great minifig but also because of the large amount of useful basic bricks. My collection is quite small and this is a great way to expand it. Now onto my little vig I made today. It shows a Carolean soldier saying good bye to his loved ones. He has just been called out to the army and will soon be fighting danes, russians and other enemies of the Swedish Empire under the command of Charles XI or Charles XII . As you can see, none of them are very excited about him going to war. The bad weather has destroyed the crops and without their husband and father the soldiers family will have a very hard time to survive. But they must follow the kings orders like everyone else. The crows are already gathering at the little croft to be ready when the famine strikes. Here is the Carolean soldier fully equipped with musket and sabre. He is a musketeer and wears the classical blue coat with yellow lining and brass buttons. Here is a real picture of a Carolean soldier for comparison: If you are interested in learning more about the famous Carolean army you can take a look here. I think the torso fits really nice and I'm planning to get a couple of those to make my own little Carolean "army" (well, at least 3-4 of them ) Please leave comments and creative criticism, I would love to hear your opinions! /Etzel

But LEGO seems to know: The big ones says "LEGO" and the small one around the edges says "leg godt" and "play well" ("leg godt" is "play well" in danish) It looks like they got some knowledge at TLG but they uses it sparse. To bad they didn't made the helmets more accurate... The real viking helmets looked something like this: or this: The ceremonial helmet from the bronze age is the only horned helmet that has been found in Scandinavia and is about 1000 years to early for the vikings: But I like the way you used the cow horns, Sir Nadroj. It might be useful in some Fantasy-style MOC

Back a few pages... They were blurry. No, I think Pencoin asked which picture JimButcher was asking about, with the dark blue thing. But I don't know either what picture he is talking about :) On topic: I think the drawbridge looks really nice and the chariot is certainly interesting. But the picture of the trolls castle is way to blurry for me to judge from. Hopefully it is stacked with dark brown.

WOW! That is fantastic news!

I love the blacksmith's torso. It's like we get this one in medieval style Perfect for all kinds of craftsmen. btw, is the kid's head one of those reversible ones? With a scared face on the other side? I will surely follow this tread!

Yeah, sure... Don't be ashamed Dennimator, tell us the truth about your big desire for pink bricks and doll-figures. No seriously, I'm quite surprised that no one has posted any information about the Beville sets. Sure, it's not the most popular theme here on Eurobricks but there is some interesting bricks in the sets and Sir Nadroj have shown some great examples of making use of the figures to. So if anyone got some picture, I'm interested of having a look too

Unfortunately not. The roof is 2 plates to low and on the drivers side the steering wheel is in the way.

Today I managed to pick up one of the new 2009 Creator sets at my local toy shop. They also had 6745 and 6747 but I didn't fancy them There was also the 8401 Minifigure Collection but I think I will wait until after Christmas to get that set. Set number: 6743 Set name: Street Speeder Release year: Should be 2009 but I'm not complaining Piece count: 165 Price: 129.50 SEK, that is about $16 but the S@H price in the US is $12.99. Should be about €11.99. Front of the box: Back of the box: The pieces and instruction manuals: Random page: Inventory: Building process: There isn't enough room to fit a minifig in the car but it should be possible with some modding. The car is almost minifig scale and I think it would look nice in a LEGO town. The finished car: Back: Extra parts: The alternative models are not as good as the first one but still nice: And: What's this? The Street Speeder seems to have time travelled back to the middle ages and has been found by a surprised knight! But the clever knight finds a good use for the car: I think this set is really good. It's cheap, has a great design and lots of useful parts. The colour scheme is nice and I always welcome sets with green parts - they are great for landscaping. The only drawback I can think of is that it would be nice with opening hood and roof but I guess that would be hard to incorporate in such a small vehicle. So this is my ratings: Overall design: 5/5 It's lovely! The green and white fits perfectly, I wish I had one of those in real life. I wonder if it's runs on bio fuel? Playability: 3/5 Well, everybody can play with toy cars but you soon find out that it doesn't get more fun with time. Sure, the wheels are rolling and the doors are opening and closing but that's about it. But the car is really nice to just look at so having it as a display is also an option. Pieces: 4/5 Good amount of pieces compared to the price I think, and a good way to stack up on green plates. Price: 4/5 I think the price is fair. This is a set even kids can buy for their own money and I think they will. Overall rating: 4/5 I really like this set but I'm not giving it a 5 because I save those for extraordinary sets (like Medieval Market ) Well, this was my first review. I hope you liked it! /Etzel

I voted for the maiden. It's about time we got some more civilians to our castles, and it's even better that we got a female one. And of course, she is quite good-looking

Sounds like a great idea, but I get this when I click the link: "Sorry, we are unable to process your request. Please contact customer service for assistance." Maybe it's just me or just at this moment. I'll try later.

I voted for #4 It is a very nice cabin and feels cosy The cat and rat is a nice touch.

Yes, that's right. It's a 1x6 brown tile. As I wrote before, the walls are not connected in any way, just standing on top of these tiles. But it is of course possible to do connect them with headlight bricks or something like that if you want to. Thank you again for your comments =)
-
Thank you for your comments! I'm happy you liked it Sorry, I don't quite understand what part you are asking about. The wall sections are all standing on a 1x6 brown tile if that's the one you mean (except the 4-wide wall that is naturally on a 1x4 brown tile).
-
Thanks :) No, the walls are not connected anywhere but they stay in place quite well anyway thanks to the 6:5 ratio.

Hi everybody! I thought I would share my latest creation with you and maybe get some comments and tips for improvments The MOC is a small wooden house, built on a stone base. I don't have any background story about it because I just wanted to try the wall technique on something and this is what it turned out to be Front: Back: The attic: Interior: The walls: Gallery when public: Link I'm not quite happy with the roof but I have a limited amount of bricks so I had to go with what I have (but I would have preferred it to be made of black roof tiles.). I tried to make the walls look like they were build in a technique that is called "skiftesverk" in Sweden. I don't know the english word but in german it's supposed to be "Bohlen-Ständerbau". When you are building with this technique you start with the corner posts and make cuts along the posts. In this channels you put the planks so they lie on top of each other. It's hard to explain in word so here is a picture, I hope you understand: /Etzel
