Just curious, why do you regret using your real name? -
It's very professional looking. Colours i've never seen before. Looking at his other creations, I don't care for his Tauntaun much but his larger scale Biker Scout and speeder is cool Biker Scout

Sweet LEGO related story in the newspaper
chris_austin replied to Minifig Lecturer's topic in Community
Along with the free LEGO sets being given away with The Daily Mirror, the newspaper has been printing a few LEGO related stories. The story in today's edition is about AFOL Simon Burfield and his fiancee Stephanie Nicholls from Farnborough, Hampshire, England. Summary: Girlfriend watches lots of Soaps on T.V. so simon starts buying LEGO to keep his mind active and to be creative. Sometime later another girlfriend finds his LEGO hobby a bit odd. More time later, Simon and Stephanie reunite (they were at school together) through Facebook, send a load of messages and later go an a date. He tells her about his LEGO while on this first date and she is ok with it because she was already falling in love. 9 months later, Stephanie arranged, with the help of LEGOland Windsor and some of Simon's friends, a trip to LEGOland and a treasure hunt which ended with a clue to find her in the centre of the park's maze with a LEGO rose and a ring which she proposed to him with! The couple are now planning their LEGO themed wedding next year. There were many more details which I have left out but it was a very cute story. I also didn't include several puns but here's an example anyway: "No doubt once they've tied the knot, they'll soon start building a family..." -
Does it say anywhere how long it took him to build all these? Besides, perhaps this is what he loves doing and if it is then i'm sure he would say that he has a 'life' and is proud of it. It is an incredible creation - highly detailed and the sheer size of it!!

I think everyone is hoping this too but have LEGO (recently) ever given stickers instead of printing for torsos or hats? 2009 may be the first year they do this of course but I don't think they will.

EDIT: Getting lots of PM's so I thought i'd remove this temporarily while I sort them out!

Free LEGO sets with the Daily Mirror
chris_austin replied to brickbitz's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Today's set was a cool little Creator Lion. At first I thought it didn't look much like one but after building, i'm happy that it's a fair representation for it's small size! £0.40 for 60 bricks (3 spares) is great value for money. Coast Guard Biker tomorrow!! (Wednesday) -

Free LEGO sets with the Daily Mirror
chris_austin replied to brickbitz's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I was very excited to read about this in the newspaper at work lastnight (Wednesday edition). The mini sets look quite cool from what i've seen so far - a mixture of Town/City and Creator. Hope there's a castle one in there too! Here are the pics: I'll try to get multiple copies incase any fellow Eurobrickers would like to get any of the sets The newspaper costs £0.40 so 12 sets would cost £4.80 if this helps anyone who's thinking of getting them. Edit: The Saturday and Sunday newspaper costs a bit more. -
Jar Jar Binks or Gungan Minifigures
chris_austin replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I always thought that Jar Jar was generally disliked but his minifig and the gungan warrior minifig go for ridiculous amounts on eBay. It's a good thing I stocked up on a load of cheap Gungan Patrols from the US a few years ago. There are a few reasonably priced Gungan body parts on Bricklink. Otherwise, good luck -
Show Your Army, Navy, and Collection Display
chris_austin replied to BillytheKid's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hmmm, not quite in the order of billions i'm sure it's possible to get a rough idea. Maybe 1 million at the most? Just checked LEGO.com and by 2003, on the minifigs 25th birthday, TLC had produced around 3.7 Billion minifigures in total. It turns 30 this year so maybe we'll get an updated amount. Sorry to go off topic. -
Another 3 for 2 offer for UK LEGO fans. On all of their LEGO sets that are available online. Link

A few star wars minfigs and parts wanted
chris_austin replied to Bobskink's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Do you have any Jar Jar or Gungan minifigs parts to trade for a Scout Trooper? -
The same can't be said for boxes unfortunately. I've had a faintly smokey MISB set for 4 years and the smell hasn't gone. I've no idea how long it was in the smoke conditions - could have been a good 10 years before I bought it. I was thinking of spray the inside of a big cardboard box with fabreeze and leaving it in there for a while. I don';t want to spray the set box directly

Yes, just shiny plain white clones came that magazine. In the charity clone trooper build only plain white clones were used. So the clones in these auctions are from somewhere else. It's often a mystery where people get uncommon LEGO from in large amounts like this.

I received a bricklink order today and was horrified to find the packet and contents reeking of smoke. The hottest water from my hot tap, fairy liquid and lemon hand wash pretty much solved that though. I just soaked the bricks until the water was cold. I was quite surprised because I thought cigarette smoke was permanent. I was tempted to try bleach but didn't want to take any risks with my valuable bricks! Now, what to do with my MISB 6396 Airport/International Jetport that has a faint cig. smoke smell...

It sure is hogwarts Castle Inventory

This looks absolutely amazing and I can't believe that LEGO has gone and produced something like this. It really shows that they are listening - or just noticing what sells I'm going to order this as soon as it becomes available, just incase it goes up in price like the Death Star. I'm actually going to save up a little fund specifically for this awesome set. I haven't had a close look at the pictures because I don't want to ruin all the surprises.

Hmm, He-Man MOCs, haven't looked that up on Brickshelf before... What I found the coolest on this MOC was the Pirate Wench boobtube made using an elastic band and 2 black lever bases Seriously though, the whole rock formation is great. How do people build those? Just build randomly?!
-
Thanks for the replies. I was just talking to my mum and she saw him on GMTV this morning with some of his MOCs. I was watching the BBC and totally missed it!
