  1. The technical aspect of the model is presented beautifully in that video. How did they do that?
  2. I have so many boxes and they take up a lot of room even when you put smaller ones inside larger ones. This doesn't save as much space as you'd think so i've gone for storing them flat. It also helps with or prevents the warping problem with the larger sets. I carefully open all the glue points so that nothing tears. They all still take up space but are so much easier to sort, store and transport! I feel as though the boxes are pointless because my LEGO will never be sold (until i'm dead, that is) but I love looking at and holding the old boxes so i'm going to keep them incase I regret it later. I'd rather have them and not need them than throw or sell them and regret it one day (like a kind of dark age about boxes!).
  3. Am I the only one who doesn't quite like the new goats and chickens? I think that they look very un-LEGO like. It seems silly to say but there is too much detail in them and it looks like they came from some farm toy set and then somebody mixed the bits up with your LEGO. The goat (especially) needs to be a little more square. I hope that i'll warm up to them though Existing animals for comparison:
  4. I don't now about any of you but one of my reasons for single army building is it's potential for great scenes. For example, one AFOL is interested in the Separatists (like me!) and another prefers the Grand Army of the Republic then at some LEGO event one day, both can meet and create a battle scene that would be very difficult/near impossible for one person to do alone. Does anyone else hope to do this one day? Perhaps even 4 of us (2 on each side) could get together for a jawdropping display.
  5. Just a quick weird question. How would you feel if you didn't feel the packet, just picked a figure at random and bought it but when you opened it, discovered that the pieces had already been put together?
  6. This competition sounds great. I can't help thinking about the possibilities for A, B anc C so i'm going to try and make this the first comp that i've entered (member for 3 years!).
  7. Cheers. I've been wondering when my Tesco will start getting these. I have a few clubcard vouchers to use up! I work at ASDA but we've only had 2 2011 LEGO products so far this year (last year we had a lot). I've no idea if/when we'll get Series 3 minifigs (we got 1 box of series 2) or more 2011 sets but with 10% staff discount, i'll wait (impatiently)!
  8. I think it's a good deal. What is your location? Dependant on your location, i'm limited to what value I can purchase without paying 20% VAT (+ a damned calculation fee) to the government.
  9. Not I! I haven't read this review yet as I will be buying this set soon and don't want to see any 'spoilers' about parts/functions! I agree that while this Battle Droid carrier is more detailed than the 7126 version, it can be much improved. It doesn't carry many droids for a start! I had modified 7126 by simply making it longer and twice the height (closer to the movie) but the parts/sets were cheaply available for that. New build from scratch this time round.
  10. Thanks Lordofdragonss! I tried to get it on the back but didn't think it was possible but now I realise that you can have it anywhere. I agree about the trophy, i'm always expecting it to be slightly bigger. Does it just seem bigger because of the view/angle in the photos?! Very detailed too Not too fond of the waist printing (I don't think it serves any purpose but I don't have one without it to compare...
  11. Really? It would cost them money to include an extra piece so the profit gained by adding that piece would be minimal or even negligibile. I find the waist printing on female minifig to be completely useless. From any angle, even straight on and fairly close-up, it still looks like a normal minifig body, just with a curved 'mark' down either side! I don't dislike it to the point of not using it because you can see past it if you try hard enough but it just seems like redundant printing to me.
  12. Haha, i'm having that!
  13. I got my Hawaii Girl today and after a couple of goes, managed to get the skirt on correctly! I know we're supposed to be intelligent creatures but I would appreciate a little diagram from LEGO to show us these things! There doesn't seem to be any discusions on Eurobricks or other forums on the topic of cutting the skirt so that it looks like the one on the sheet (that comes in each bag). The skirt on the sheet is a different design than the one you actually get so I wonder if cutting it would affect how it sits on the legs assembly. The strands at the ends might rise up but then could you carefully iron those down? I guess no-one wants to sacrifice a skirt to test it out. I'm not confident that I could cut straight enough anyway! EDIT: Thinking about it some more, using a transparent ruler and a sculpture/stanley knife, this coule be done accurately and easily. I've just got to find a sharp enough knife. My housemate is an art student and might have one but she's in Mexico for 3 weeks...
  14. Series 3 has just arrived in my town in Somerset, UK. I could barely see the dots so I just picked one at random and that turned out to be the pilot. He's not high on my list but he has a unique torso so that's ok. The staff were very helpful and even offered me a print-out of which dots were for which minifigs but it was way too hard. Then one of the staff said that he'd felt an elf shield in one of the packs, which was nice of him Now, how long until I go back for more?!
  15. I got my catalogue in the post today and it's £35.99 It seems to be in line with the other set prices/piece ratio so I don't think it's incorrect. £1.00 of that is the new VAT price but that hardly makes a difference.
  16. I was really hoping to get some red/Geonosis battle droids with this set. Apart from that, it seems like a cool little set but as always, it depends on the GBP. If it is £25 then that's reasonable. I'm falling behind to The Penguin's army! Even though we're on the same side... I had no idea it was so big but then I haven't posted in 8 months or so.
  17. Has anyone tried an alternative for the 8083 Rebel (snow) Trooper BP? I've tried for over 90 mins and I can't make a darn thing! Is it just my lack of imagination or is the parts selection limited and restrictive? I almost made a guitar but it looked so wrong.
  18. As an AFOL who is building an army of Gungans, i'm not sure what to make of the news. Have the Gungans appeared in season 2 of Clone Wars? If this is a CW set then there will likely be a new head mold but if it's an TPM release then I hope it'll be the old mold! I don't want to have to start rebuilding my army with better/weird looking gungans (even though they may look better!). Gungan and Jar Jar minifigs, even though the character is much hated, is still an expensive minifig to aquire! A new version might mean a cheaper army!
  19. It's not very common but on Bricklink and eBay, this does happen. With the Castle Market Village for example, you are able to buy the figs and accessories separately or any of the indvidual buildings. It would be nice if there was an official way to do this but if you can wait a year to allow the set to 'get out there' and keep your eyes open then you should be able to get that taxi quite cheaply. Or just order the parts based on the instructions that you can download for free from LEGO.com. I do that soooooo often.
  20. Do we know more about this? This is more 'LEGO news and general discussion' but I thought it might be more useful to post it here first. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=67389
  21. I can't remember the details but isn't there a wall somewhere that was damaged for some reason and LEGO bricks were used to patch it up? Oh, then it turned out that it was Megapoop bricks instead. Nice idea though.
  22. It's been almost 20 years for me. No missing pieces yet! I always look extra hard when a piece is missing; LEGO pieces can bounce surprisingly far!
  23. Looks like the grandson finds something or someone offensive to his nose! That's something I didn't know about TLG - being charitable with sets
  24. Umm... Is it strange to anyone else that Alex received a wizard?!
  25. After reading the reviews, which I thank you very much for, and the price breakdown by Sirens I was about to go and purchase some sets instead of BP's. There is a major price difference on Lego.co.uk though! Due to the lower price of BP's, it's nowhere near better value. Had a look on Bricklink and I can get between 6 and 3 minifigs for the same price of a BP. If I want a shield for them it's approx. 25% extra per minifig. I think i'll wait a while.
