I just noticed there's a little fireplace on the ground floor of the tower. Well it's not totally plain then. When i get it i still will add the green magician's equipment and maybe some stuff from the advent calendar, when it comes out.

It's been a while since i told you i'm gonan do reviews of a few older sets that are still missing in the review index here. Been a bit busy, but now i'm back! All the reviews from the new kingdoms sets forced me to dust off another set today and take some pictures. Let's begin! The Instructions: The good old yellow-orangeish instructions like we know them - not much to say here. The Minifigs: Wow! That's 9 figs, with a total of 6 different Torsos. When there's something good about classic sets, it's the amount of figs you get! The only "issue" is, that there is no character from a rivaling faction in this set. Is there anything else? Oh yes, we also have some characters that are not human here: Horses & Ghost: Accessoires: Weapons, anyone? Overall views of the set: I really like the overall design of this castle. The raised baseplate is unique and has a good shape. If there's something to critisize for me, it's the backside. I don't know, i just think it's not the ebst design, probably the wall should have been a bit higher. Detailed views: Moving from the inside out, we begin with the fountain on the deep ground of the castle, a very nice thing to add! Right beside, there is the prison - it's got plenty of space, but the royal knights seem to be in times of peace so right now it is empty: If we move a little to the right, we find a very well hidden secret entrance "Hey look, there's steps and a secret door!": A bit above that, we find the king's throne, also featuring a trap door if the mighty one isn't in the mood to talk to someone: Back on the ground again, there are happening very mysterious things: And if that didn't frighten you enough, the spooky ghost comes out of his little home: Conclusion: This has to be one of my favorite castles ever, right behind 6086 Black Knight's Castle. It has lots of playing features, plenty of figs and tons of accesoires! I can't imagine a child ever getting bored with this set. Hope you liked the review, see you soon with the next one!

It's a toy, it's all about imagination. :P There have been lots of sets where stuff doesn't make sense, and that's the point..it doesn't HAVE to make sense.

I don't see any red TILES in there. I wouldn't remove the red elements, these are adding a lot to the look of it, imo.

Thanks for another kingdoms review! First of all the set looks great to me, i really love the color scheme and design. And of course the figs are stunning aswell! The only thing that really bothers me is the lack of interior. Ever since i saw the first pictures i missed something. At least a little table or something would have been nice. Oh well, i guess i'm gonna put the green magician and his equipment somewhere in there, i could see it fitting.

Well, towers in older castles haven't been any less open than in this one. The lifting arms make sens in the way that..well, they lift the drawbridge up Btw. the king's castle siege also had these arms already. I myself think the tower is perfect, but i could imagine someone doesn't like it's design though. For me it still looks good.

Since i'm running out of space and i need some money to afford all the new kingdoms sets (and i also still have to get last year's castle sets), i decided to sell all my non-castle stuff and from now on only concentrate on castle anymore (with very few exceptions). I already sold a lot of sdmaller sets a few months ago, but now also the big ones have to go. It hurts my heart but i decided to do so and there's no way back now. All sets only have been built once and since then were on display, most of them in closed furniture so they still look like new and aren't even dusty. What about a bard/troubadour fig? There were many such persons in the medieval age so it'd be nice to have a fig like that!

Not realyl a faction, but i wanna see civilians so badly! And of course many civilian sets, the imagination is endless when thinking of that! TLG did the first step with the MMV set, and we get a pig in the new advent calendar, so bring it on next year!

I can't stop coming back to this thread, this castle is just so lovely! I'm already selling my non-castle themed sets so i can afford all this new glory! And i still don't even have all of last year's sets, how am i gonna do it? Anyone willing to join me for a bank robbery

I absolutely love the look of this castle, it's got such a loverly classic touch A few questions i have: Does the mechanism to pull up the portcullis work good, and do you have any shots from the "behind" sides of the towers and the inside of the castle? I also wonder, is there any interior in upper floor of the gatehouse?

The calendar looks absolutely fantastic! The last one was already good, but i think this year's is even better. There is even a pig in it! Could this be a hint that we'll see some more civilian castle sets in the future? Can't wait to get it!

Okay, this is something that bothers me since a while. Since many sets don't come to my local stores, S@H is pretty much the only place to get them all. And there's the issue, why can you still only pay with credit card? I used to have one, but now not anymore cause it got me in some trouble and i'm not going through this anymore. In times like these where you have paypal and such, why don't they offer payment with paypal, or a direct bank account money transfer? As far as i know the items are delivered from inside the EU, so there shouldn't be a problem with this. Is anyone else also a bit annoyed with this?

Gotta check out my local toy store the next days if they have the impulse sets. If yes, i'm gonna grab a few and do reviews. Btw. does anyohe know if S@H already offers payment via paypal, or still only with credit card?

this is gonna be an awesome impulse set. i notice the hat has been changed, so noe we have proof the magician is part of the dragons faction (though that wa spretts obvious from the colors since the biginning, anyway). can't wait to get my fingers on all these new sets, i've gotta rob a bank soon cause i even still don't have all sets from the fantasy era!

Yeah, but well to be honest, a minifig doesn't crawl out there itself, does it? If yes, i must sleep with one eye open now to be sure all the figs from the sets in my room are not breaking out and attacking me at night

Also there's multiple pictures of a guy from the lion's faction standing inside the prison carriage..shouldn't be too hard to figure out what it's for. :P

Anothe rnew kingdoms set review! Where are you all getting these sets so early? This is a nice set, nothing more and nothing less. the figs are outstanding, the carriage itself is a bit so-so, i don't really like the fact that it is so "open".

Fully agreed. Btw. CopMike, did you shoot the pictures with 2 different cameras? The first ones look like from a cell phone and are worse quality, and the last few seem much better. Do you think you could take another picture from the dragon's knight. with the better cam?
