  1. Come clean - H. Duff Here with me - Dido The phantom of the opera - E. Rossum and G. Butler Memories - Within Temptation So I listen to a bit of everything. I'm not fixed on a certain type of music.
  2. Welcome to our community!
  3. After finishing The Adding Machine I started reading The Little Foxes, which is another play. The story takes place in the American South.
  4. I didn't know Galidor and checked what it actually was through a google picture search and on brickset.com. I was really shocked when I saw what it was! It doesn't look like LEGO at all. Those figures are terribly awful! So I had to vote for Galidor! It's definitely been the worst theme so far! *n* :-X Was Galidor also released in Europe? I cannot remember seeing one of those ugly sets in a shop. Maybe I cannot remember because I didn't recognise them as LEGO sets.
  5. Welcome to eurobricks! Great to know you're a city fan! I also like city stuff much. A train layout without a city through and around which the trains can go would not be a real layout.
  6. The Star Justice set looks excellent! It somehow reminds me of the Futuron series. *sweet* However, I find the Skull stuff a bit too much though that set was obviously created by a brilliant LEGO mind. But they remind me too much of a nonsense science-fiction-movie like Mars Attacks!. And the castle theme has two factions: knights and skeletons, and here you have skeletons again! It's like the future generation of medieval skeletons! *wacko* EDIT: And do you really have to put stickers on the minifigs torso's?! This is bad. I'd prefer print being on them.
  7. At the moment I am reading Elmer Rice's The Adding Machine. I started reading it today and will finish it tomorrow. I could've finished it in one day, but I'm a slow and lazy reader. It's a play and nothing really long.
  8. Great review, dunamis! And I love the pics you took! *wub* If only I had enough money, I'd buy CC, MS and GG at once! I think MS is a great addition to CC and GG though its style is different. And yes, it is often difficult to distinguish between dark bley and black when you follow the instructions. I had that problem when I built the main model of the Hobby Train Set 10183.
  9. Welcome and be assured that we'll support your refound LEGO addiction as well as we can! ;-)
  10. I am not so much into pirates. Unfortunately, I only have veeeeeeeeery few sets, but I'd love to have more pirate sets, especially ships. Whether I'd open a MISB pirates set depends on the following aspects: - How old is the set? From the very beginning of the pirate theme or just one of its end? - What condition is the box in? - Do I have a second copy of it? - How much is a used one on eBay or elsewhere? If the used one is cheap, I can leave the MISB one untouched. Well, I only have two sets that are MISB. A small Blacktron II spaceship which has not been opened due to lack of space. (No SPACE for a SPACEship. What a wordplay! :-) ) And I've got a Santa Fe engine 10020 Limited Edition set which is unopened. Reason: I've got a second limited edition version and two other non-limited Santa Fe engines that have been opened. So the unopened 10020 can remain as it is till the sun stops shining, which might be in several billions of years or something. ;-) However, I'd say I'd open a MISB pirate set, because I love opening the little plastic bags and listen to the sound when the bricks fall out of the bags. I'd also open it because I haven't experienced that feeling with pirate sets very often. And what profit would I have if I kept the set unopened for eternity? No one lives forever. If I don't open it, someone else will have the pleasure of doing it. Maybe a grandchild?! X-O
  11. Wonderful trains! Fantastic details! I'd love to have many engines and waggons of that kind! They're so terribly realistic and must look great on anyone's layout!
  12. I prefer 4-wide vehicles. I also find they have a very special charm. And I have so many 4-wide vehicles that I am unwilling to buy bigger ones just for continuity's sake. But I must admit that the new 6-wide vehicles look quite detailed. They can only be made so detailed because they are so big. Still, I stick to what I've said: no 6-wide vehicles in my LEGO town (unless they come with a house or another building I really like). I believe the only 6-wide vehicle I have is that truck from train set 4565.
  13. Hi and welcome! For us LEGO fans space is always a problem no matter how big the apartment or house is. ;-)
  14. I think the LEGO collector's catalogue is a great idea although you can also check brickset, of course! But it's still nice to have a book in your hands instead of going on-line all the time. I mean sometimes newspapers also have an on-line "twin" but it's a different feeling to have the newspaper (the real paper version) in your hands. And the LEGO catalogue might be updated from time to time. Oh, I love philosophy! *sweet* So let me add some thoughts: What if you throw away the box and sell the instructions on eBay? Do you still own the set? (That problem has already been referred to.) But what if you lose some parts and order replacement parts on bricklink? D'you really own the set then though you added bricks that did not come with the actual set? I' As it is usual for philosophy the questions have just become more instead of answering the initial ones. :-P ;-) EDIT: Or even more philosophy: What if you buy the two special tiles for the limited edition version of 10020, the limited edition box and that document and add it to your ordinary non-limited edition Super Chief? Can you then claim that you're the owner of a limited edition Super Chief?
  15. Today I phoned the LEGO replacement parts service and ordered two train plates 6x28 in red. After asking by email whether that plate was still available, I received an answer saying YES. But the man who answered the phone call said it was NOT available but he would check. *wacko* If they have it, it'll be sent. I hope they have it! Fingers crossed! I need them for two MOC waggons!
  16. A gang of AFOLs? An accumulation of AFOLs? A band of AFOLs? A sum of AFOLs? A team of AFOLs? A cluster of AFOLs? A spot of AFOLs? A system of AFOLs? A universe of AFOLs? Oh, this thread is for those who have creative minds in regard to linguistics! :-P
  17. I wish you a happy birthday!
  18. Hello and welcome! Be assured that this wonderful community can fulfill all your expectations concerning LEGO!
  19. Happy birthday, DJ Force! I hope you have a great day!
  20. I've got some more recommendations for you: Pop music: Silbermond, Juli (I think they've not yet been mentioned.) VERY GOOD MOVIE: Das Boot. A film about a German submarine crew. Very neutral. Nothing that glorifies war but depicts war as it is. And I love the movie's theme!! Otherwise I can only recommend going to a country where German is spoken for half a year or a year. Consider exchange programmes. Though I would not recommend Austria or Switzerland, because there various dialects are spoken which might confuse you. Germany is the ideal country to learn standard German (though there are also many dialects, of course). I could give you some words from my own Austrian dialect and you would never ever find out their real standard German meaning. EDIT: One more singer: Reinhard Fendrich (Austrian) Some newspaper websites: www.vol.at, www.vienna.at (local ones, many pics and short articles, low quality). www.derstandard.at (Austrian, supportive of the social democrats) www.diepresse.at (Austrian, supportive of the conservatives)
  21. In my opinion the best *y* movies are: Gattaca, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Dances with Wolves And the worst *n* movies: Well, there are millions of them. I've defintely seen too many of them. But sometimes they are so bad that they amuse me endlessly. So sometimes I like 3rd class science fiction just for the bad special effects and even worse acting. I find them hilarious! But I really can't watch Bollywood movies! I get headaches from them!
  22. Happy birthday to both of you! Tell us how many LEGO set you got for your birthday! Since Feb. 29th only comes every fourth year, you must get four times as many LEGO sets as anyone else here on their birthdays.
  23. I want to build two Swiss and two Austrian railway waggons. If I weren't short of money, it'd be building them right now. :'-( I want to make them as realistic as possible. I've been carrying around my brother's model train catalogue for a while. I've spent quite a while looking at the waggons I want to build, thinking of the pieces I'll need.
  24. Does anybody know whether the bricks survive their trip in the washing machine if you use water that is 40 degrees centigrade warm? Is it too warm or still ok? Any experiences made with 40 degrees? I'm not sure if I get layers of dust that are many years old off of my bricks. I've not made good experiences with washing the bricks by hand. So much dust.
