  1. Happy birthday to you, SuvieD!
  2. Thanks for doing that review for us! It's great but I'm also among them who won't buy the Space Skulls set. Space Skulls as a bit too much for me as I've said in another post. And the set has sooo many stickers! That's pretty annoying! Dunamis, you're asking yourself why the Space Skulls wear helmets with visiors? That's a very good question! Maybe it's to make them look spacier. I can't think of any other reason. ;-)
  3. I voted for the Imperial Flagship. I find it simply looks better. And I like the Imperial Flagship's sails! Tar and feather me now if you want! ;-) The Carribean Clipper has a second mast in its back section, but there's no sail fixed on it. What's the use of a mast without a sail?
  4. Welcome on board! This is the right forum for any passionate LEGO fan!
  5. Hi and welcome! I can dissolve your concerns! This is indeed the right place to discuss LEGO. There are members from all age groups! By the way, I'm as old as you. Maybe you could tell us something about the themes you like most. Sorry, I've got to disappoint you: I'm not into metal music, but some other eurobrick members will certainly be.
  6. Wow, what an excellent locomotive! And you added some nice details! It really looks like the model train! And you didn't forget that it should be able to go through curvy areas of your layout! Congrats for this unique MOC! *y*
  7. Hi and welcome! Maybe you could introduce yourself in the "Hello! My name is..." thread in the "eurobricks community" forum. I'm not an expert on such matters but I think for those who are experts it would probably be helpful if they had a link to that eBay auction. Estimating the dragon's price is easier with a picture.
  8. As Lasse D I also find that electricity for the trains should come from the rails. Apart from keeping the production costs of rails low I don't understand why LEGO had to move away from 9V rails. My brother's Roco trains get their power from the rails and they can be steered independently from each other. The only thing you have to do is adding a lil' electronic chip to the engine's motor. It would've been great if LEGO had released a 9V motor 10153 with a little opening for such a chip. *wub* I must admit that my brother needs some other electronic stuff to keep his engines going. He had to buy a different speed regulator but the power still comes from the metallic rails.
  9. Though I'm not into space any more I must say that this set looks very nice indeed. It also has some fine details! Thanks for this review with all those pictures! I also like the colour scheme: grey, blue, and white. What I find funny is that one minifig has glasses. Normally I'd expect that in the future everyone will have contacts or something even better which is more futuristic looking, but not ordinary glasses. ;-)
  10. Since the gauge remains the same things like wheels and buffers won't be changed, I assume. However, Jan Beyer of TLC announced that the production of 9V stuff like the motor 10153 and railway tracks has ended. The motor and straight rails are already sold out in Europe. It's just a matter of time till the other things like curved rails aren't available any more. Then you can buy motors and rails only on bricklink or eBay. A 9V motor sooner or later stops working. My oldest one is 16 years old and still working, but I doubt it'll continue workingfor another 16 years. When I need a new one, it'll definitely be very expensive since they're out of production.
  11. The only current transformer I can think of is speed regulator 4548, but I have no idea how this should work. I'll believe that 4548 is used as a recharger when I see it with my own eyes. The new battery box is 8 studs long and 4 studs broad and high. I have no clue how I should integrate that thing in diesel engine 4563 and some other small engines I have. It can be integrated in the Super Chief 10020 when you put out those bricks which depict the motor. So a nice detail will have to be removed. :-( I'll mainly stick to 9V forever. But it's good the gauge remains the same so that I can buy some new waggons and locomotives. The thing that bothers me most is that sooner or later it will be terribly difficult (=expensive) to get a new 9V motor. >:-( :-( Does someone have an idea how to keep a 9V motor in good condition? How can I open it without damaging it? How can I clean its interior parts?
  12. Are the magnets only banned in America? When I go to pick a brick, the train magnet can still be bought. It seems it does not affect Europe. At least not yet. EDIT: Maybe this topic should be moved to the LEGO News & General Discussion forum.
  13. Happy birthday to both of you guys! I hope you won't only get some waffles but also some LEGO boxes!
  14. I also believe that religon and politics should be excluded from a forum like eurobricks. Here things concerning LEGO should be discussed. And if we had a forum on politics and religon, it would easily get out of control. There are some things about religion and politics that make me furious when they're uttered. I won't give any examples. If I did, I would probably open a discussion which could develop into an avalanche. Since there are some other Austrians here in this forum, I don't want to imagine what a discussion among us about our political parties might look like. Defending this party, criticising the other; an endless discussion. In short, no debates on religion and politics on eurobricks, please.
  15. Really interesting thread! Well, I think my favourite marvel hero is Blade. He's not a typical hero in some way. He has to control his thirst for blood - quite a challenging weakness - and he is often in very bad mood. But I love his martial arts moves! He's an interesting character. Not because he is half human and half vampire. He isn't mainly an outsider because of what he is. He isolates himself since he's pretty much unable to make friends. His communication skills are very bad, and normally they are essential to make friends. But maybe he cannot make friends well because he is afraid of manoevring people in dangerous situations through their friendship.
  16. Space! Final frontiers! Well, eurobricks also offers you enough space and what-so-ever for your comments, ideas, and MOCs! I liked Classic Space, Futuron, Blacktron I and II, Space Police I and II, Ice Planet, and the Spyrius robots. Sadly, I don't have many of those sets. As I child I focussed too much on castle, and since the end of my "Dark Ages" trains have gotten my whole attention. But I hope I can add some sets to my too small space collection sooner or later. But it's all a question of many as you know yourself! ;-) You've got to take exams? Exams in school or are you a university student? If you're among the latter, there are some around here (including myself). ;-)
  17. I'm totally of your opinion! I'd love to have a big Star Trek spaceship! Or even several different spaceships! *wub* Sometimes I ask myself what will come after Star Wars. Star Wars is a great theme but LEGO won't be producing those sets forever. So what will come after it? Maybe Star Trek? This year a new Star Trek movie can be seen in the cinemas. Would be a good opportunity to release one or two Star Trek sets.
  18. Yup, Holodoc! Exactly that set! As I said: not cheap, but hard to get and on bricklink I once saw one or two MISB 6039 sets that cost much more. The only possibility to get it cheaper would be an ordinary eBay auction (no fixed price). Still, the price is ok compared to what I've seen. Once I also saw it on eBay MISB for ca. 120 euro. Otherwise I could have gotten a train motor 10153 for that money! Since 10153 is out of production now, the price for a new one will definitely go up like a rocket in the near future as well.
  19. I just bought a MISB twin arm-launcher 6039 at a fixed price of 35.90 euro. Not cheap but I've seen it for twice as much on bricklink. And I'm happy to finally have had the chance to buy it. This is one of the few classic castle sets that I really had to have!
  20. I'm quite bold to add my pirate sets here since I do not have that many. All pirate sets I have are opened. I have no MISB ones. 6251 Pirate Mini Figures 6258 Smuggler's Shanty 6260 Shipwreck Island 6261 Raft Raiders (My biggest and only pirate "ship".) 6265 Sabre Island 6266 Cannon Cove ...I'd like to have many more! :'-(
  21. I like those two bluish grey waggons and the platform of the railway station. And I would love to have MS, GG and CC! They look absolutely great when connected! *wub* Is the hobby train set locomotive motorised?
  22. Cool dam! And I also love the city in the background. *y* I would use smaller dark grey bricks for the rock but this is a matter of money. Buying lots of old dark grey pieces on bricklink is quite expensive. The big rock pieces are just more handy; but by adding smaller pieces it could be more detailed. But you say it is work in progress. So we'll see what this project looks like when it is completely finished. But it already looks great! So in the end it'll definitely look even greater! *wub* EDIT: Oh, you're planning on adding smaller pieces to the BURPs! Sorry! I overlooked that! But in this case I'm really looking forward to seeing the final result.
  23. Good to know there's another town/city fan here! Welcome to eurobricks! Don't bother about being American. This forum is called "EURObricks" but there are several Americans among us. No problem at all.
  24. I wish you a happy birthday with many presents filled with bricks!
  25. I don't have any real rituals. I just prefer building when I have the whole day for myself. So during holidays or on weekends. And I make sure the cat is not in sight, because she tends to play with LEGO bricks. Sometimes our cat sleeps on tables. (Fortunately she does not sleep on the kitchen table!!). So I have to make sure that the cat has not been lying on the table I want to use. I don't want to have her hair among my bricks. So I prefer building where the cat does not often hang around. She is not often in the LEGO room in the celler. I usually keep the door to it shut. But there's such a lot of LEGO in it that it's difficult to find a spot where I can sit down and build. I don't listen to music or watch a film at the same time as building. Both would distract me from building, especially movies. I also don't eat while building. I don't want to make my bricks dirty. I usually only drink something while creating something.
