  1. Hi and welcome to our community! I am also eager to look at some pics of your LEGO city!
  2. You're a big guy? In this case you are definitely a big LEGO fan as well! ;-) Welcome to eurobricks! I hope you feel comfortable here!
  3. I don't know what makes you think the RC trains are sold out. Some seconds ago I went to S@H Austria and set 7897 is still available. With set 7898 it says "backorders accepted, will ship in 14 days". I also checked S@H Germany and there it's the same.
  4. Welcome to eurobricks, where brick discussions are endless!
  5. Welcome to our bricky community!
  6. Since there are some new buffers available in the very near future, I went to bricklink and bought 14 buffers, 14 magnets and 14 magnet holders. I'm one of those continuity guys. I don't like changes much.
  7. I'm also of the opinion that a warning on the LEGO sets with magnets should be sufficient. But, of course, LEGO wants to be on the very safe side. So I can understand their way of dealing with this problem, and magnets are definitely dangerous if children swallow them. Still, I'm quite surprised that new buffers are being released. I thought the new train system would be as much backwards-oriented as possible. Doesn't look like it's gonna be much backwards-compatible. >:-( Well, maybe "compatible" but I hoped that most elements like wheels and so on would remain the same. Simonwillems, I checked Pick a Brick (USA) and the new buffers can't be bought yet though they are listed. So no one will be able to buy and test them now. :-( Instead of "add to bag" it says "not available". EDIT: Just checked the Austrian Pick a Brick system. The new buffers are also listed there, but not yet available. Seems that the new buffers are a reaction to that magnets and safety debate. I couldn't find the old magnets and buffers on Pick a Brick anymore.
  8. Welcome to eurobricks! The right place for discussions concerning LEGO.
  9. Whaaat?! He's gonna sell some of those rare gems?! X-O He does indeed have some very very interesting and rare sets in his collection! :-X Now it's high time to win the lottery! Buying lottery tickets ON!
  10. I know it's quite provocative to say this in a pirate forum but I voted for castle. I hope this won't stir up the pirate fans too much. ;-) My vote was influenced by all those brilliant castle sets that were available 15 and more years ago. But I am not a fan of the castle sets that have been released in the past few years. Still, pirates is a very great theme and I found it hard to decide. I would've preferred voting for "I like both" but it's not an option. To be very honest, my decision was also the victim of subjectivity. I own many more castle sets than pirate ones.
  11. Neat! Though it's small it still looks quite detailed. I like it! Good choice of colours! One way of doing something against the lack of space in all our homes! ;-)
  12. Happy birthday, Copmike and Sean!
  13. Hi brickplayer! Welcome! This is a wonderful community indeed! You'll definitely feel great here!
  14. Welcome to eurobricks! Tell us a bit more about yourself. What are your favourite themes?
  15. There is no need for four posts in a row. Just click on "edit" on the right bottom of your first post and add things. Then click on "complete edit". Anyway, you've got a nice town layout! Nice collection! *sweet*
  16. I can only support Hairy Ruben's opinion: moccing is the key! Create your own models and hope that your cousin cannot read thoughts! ;-) I understand what you mean. If I had assembled and played with a set I wanted to have, I'd lose interest in that set. However, this is only true for some sets. Since I'm a great train fan, I'd just buy a train set, no matter how often I've used someone else's. I simply love train sets and my longing for them does not cease unless I can claim that I bought one copy for myself. In short: buy those sets if you really want to have them! Maybe you'll regret not buying them in the future and then you'll envy your cousin's collection more than before; and start creating MOCs! EDIT: Deinonychus, when you are 14, it's indeed embarrassing when you're seen buying LEGO. At that age many consider LEGO to be uncool.
  17. Thanks for this review! Nicely done! Good pictures! *y* I really like the Wolfpack Tower, but somehow its interior is too small. :-( I never knew where to put the Wolfpack guys. Maybe I'd be good to add grey plates around the treasure chest (to cover the blue plate). So you'd have some extra space for the minifigs to stand on. I don't want my minifigs to stand in the water.
  18. I didn't make a joke and I wasn't the victim of a joke on April 1st. I never make April fool's jokes because everyone seems to be expecting them anyway and is more alert than on other days. When I was a child, I can only remember my dad saying that there was something under the kitchen table. Of course, he wouldn't tell me what it was, and I crawled under the table to check. Well, there was nothing: April 1st! I don't like April 1st much. You cannot read a newspaper without asking yourself which article might be an April fool's joke all the time. So I often don't know which article I should believe. And eurobricks was no different from that. Several posts and I didn't know which one was true or not true. *wacko*
  19. Welcome to eurobricks! This is the right place when you're interested in LEGO pirates (and other themes, of course ;-) ).
  20. I did none of the things that have been mentioned. I usually threw the coin sprue away. But I was more creative with Playmobil cowboys. The choclate brand I prefer used to pack the chocolate bars in aluminium foil and then in paper. I used the aluminium foil to make little silver nuggets by pressing a bit of foil together forming little balls. I had to be careful. I didn't want nuggets with chocolate on or in them. Can't remember if I sometimes washed the foil.
  21. My LEGO stuff is on the floor and not on a table. But if I put it on a table, I'll also do it the way you've done it: a hole in the centre. A agree to Rebecca. It's very good to have a big opening in the centre to have easier access to everything. And your fire department looks really splendid!
  22. An absolutely great city with many self-made details and buildings! First I missed train tracks but I saw them a bit later including a metroliner. And there are also some monorail tracks in the pictures. A complete city! But I didn't see the actual monorail train. Did I miss it? Maybe all your minifigs are so happy because your city is so safe with all those police officers and fire-fighters! ;-)
  23. Trains, trains, trains, and.... hmmm... let me think! Oh, yes, now I've got it: trains! ;-) Just yesterday I built two train waggons. I had built the main model of the Hobby Train Set 10183, but it annoyed me to have so many pieces left. So I wanted to do something with them and built a simple passenger waggon and an even simpler freight waggon. Apart from some small black plates (1x2, 2x2 and 2x3), I only used the pieces that are left after building the main model (=crocodile engine). Well, if I had more money, I'd probably be into several themes at the same time: trains, castle, space and pirates. By the way, I consider town/city to be part of trains or vice versa. A town needs to be added to any train layout. EDIT: My interest in castle sets ended in January 1997 when I found that nothing great was released any more. Later the colour change (grey => bley) put some more weight on this attitude. I don't like bley castles though I think this colour is quite ok for train/town sets. And space sets that were released after the year 1994 don't interest me either.
  24. Hi and welcome to eurobricks! Seems that LEGO has got you in its control completely! Good! This is a prerequisite for discussing brick-related matters here! ;-) Regards from the country that is usually mixed up with Australia (=>Austria)! ;-)
  25. I'm 100% Austrian with nearly all relatives from the same province.
