Well... true, but some other summer sets are popping up, and after buying a few of the Power Miners I can say I won't be getting any more unless the summer wave is better. And the set names are promising, so I'm anticipating pictures.

While kids are definitely capable of having fun with a more interesting premise, I'm not so sure they will. LEGO goes with what sells, and apparently this repeating formula does.

Minifigs are expensive to make, so LEGO must have had a lot of success with collectible minifigs if they're trying out all these new varieties. Personally I love it. 2009 is turning out to be one of the best years ever for minifigs. More girls than ever, more detail, and more variety. And great aliens!

Classic Space was way before my time. After I complete my 1990's Space collection, though, I might start on classic Space.

Hold on there, quite a few of the themes you just bashed are not bad at all and well liked by quite a few Space fans. Because everybody seems to be confused: This isn't a revival of classic Space. This is a revival of Space Police.

As a lot of people have stated, there is still a lot of things we haven't seen about this theme. For one, we don't know what %90 of the sets look like. They could be either much better or much worse than this. Also we've only seen one preliminary minifig... a lot will change. It sure looks promising but lets not start salivating yet.

I'm sure they are. Power Miners torsos used to be from Mars Mission until a few months before release.

Oh well. I liked this theme, but I'd glad to welcome Space Police!

1. What's wrong with a hot-rod with no wheels? LEGO's never tried it before, and it looks great. 2. He's stealing gold as can be inferred from the container that's opening and sending gold bars into Space. 3. The Space Police vehicle looks like a space ship to me. 4. Because it's a throwback to the Space Police. And as to all of the accusations of looking like Racers in space... This is most likely "hyperspeed pursuit", so of course it'll look that way. We've still got a Galactic Enforcer, freeze ray frenzy, and other sets that will likely forgo this impression. Come on people!
