  1. Jabba's palace is looking quite nice, it seems as though the minifigs alone will make this one worth picking up. Definitely better than the last rendition, and the new Jabba mold isn't half bad. Unfortunately I'm sure the price tag will keep me away from this one, at least until next year's after-Christmas sales.
  2. Impressions: - Ghost Train is looking fantastic in every possible way. - Hero vehicles look much better close up than they did in the prelim shots. - I'm feeling a little split on Dracula's castle. On one hand, I really like the vibe. The interior reminds me a great deal of Castlevania. It looks like a gothic courtyard. But it is rather sparsely built, and I feel like they could have settled for a smaller, more complete looking castle. Still, it's not bad. - The car that comes with Dracula's castle is BOSS. - I notice a VERY cool printed "moon" piece on the main tower, behind all of the moonstones. - Zombie at 1:00! - Loving the ghostbusters reference with the ghost-sucking vacuum plane. - The minifigures are great, not a klinker in the bunch. Overall, I give this a big
  3. That would definitely follow, but thus far the sets have been a bit of a surprise... the Ghost Train, the Hearse, etc. Nothing's stopping it from being a zombie paratrooper brigade.
  4. I don't think PQ did that well. Atlantis had two waves, whereas PQ started going on sale after only a few months. I'm not surprised, because I don't see how flying mummies would appeal to kids these days.
  5. Castle is looking good, but somehow it looks a little small. That's fine if it means it'll be cheaper, but somehow I imagine that's not LEGO's thinking. It still looks pretty great to me and yes, that bowler hat man is easily the best LEGO fig in a long time.
  6. Any decent sales on LEGO SW lately? I'm interested in the OT sets from 2010 onward, particularly the Hoth sets.
  7. Just scored the 8097 Slave I and 8089 Hoth Wampa Cave from ebay for a grand total of $66.00! No boxes, but the sets are still brand new and sealed. Very excited to get my Empire Strikes Back fix.
  8. Looking at that picture, the new Malevolence is looking pretty bad. I wasn't very interested in it anyway, being an OT fan. And do we really need ANOTHER Jedi Starfighter? Still waiting for pictures of Jabba's Palace.
  9. My thoughts exactly. This theme is going to be FANTASTIC for collecting unique parts and minifigures. Personally, though, I like the concept behind it enough to buy the sets for the designs. The castle reminds me so much of Castlevania (one of my favorite games), I'm going to get two.
  10. I hope we get some pictures of Jabba's Palace soon.
  11. That ghost train looks stunning! Thanks a lot for finding these. My wallet is going to lose a lot of weight this summer.
  12. Looks like I'm about two minutes too late. The original uploader took them down. Any mirrors?
  13. I just checked for this and I don't even seen 9492 on their website...
  14. Thanks for the review! I like this set just a little bit less than the new TIE Fighter, but it's still good. Definitely an improvement over the last rendition of this ship. I appreciate the inclusion of Jek Porkins and an R4 unit. I will definitely be picking this up eventually, when I have a little more room in my budget for LEGO.
  15. Frankly, I'm ready to see the sets.
  16. The Fellowship looks a little better than the baddies to me, but those are some very high standards, so these are still pretty good. Not a big fan of gollum. Something about that fig doesn't seem to work... still, I bet other people will snatch him up.
  17. This is my favorite Star Wars set from the 2012 wave, followed by the new X-Wing. What a great model. It's leaps and bounds above any other rendition of the TIE fighter LEGO's ever released. The asking price is still pretty high (license themes ) but I'm still willing to pay it for a model this attractive. Great review, I'm sold!
  18. Yeah... am I the only one who thinks that sounds like a BAD idea? A lot of AFOLS (actually, most) buy LEGO sets to collect the minifigures. Making them readily available individually would drastically reduce the collect-ability of the sets themselves. One of my favorite parts of buying a larger LEGO set is the handful of exclusive/hard-to-find minifigs that it comes with. If I can just buy them for $3.99 a piece I doubt I'll feel like a $89.99 purchase is worth it.
  19. That makes two of us... I think you're fine.
  20. Wow. I honestly would never have guessed that was a fan-made image. If he's not working for LEGO yet, I sense that he will be in the future.
  21. "Gandalf Arrives" is definitely an odd choice for TLG, but I'm glad there's a cheap way to get Gandalf. And since I'm not really a Castle collector, I don't mind picking up a carriage set (though I do recall there being a lot of them). Besides, the smaller sets always tends to be throwaway minifig packs.
  22. Good to hear you're out of your dark ages. There's actually a pretty wide variety of opinions on what LEGO Space themes are the most worth the money, so it will boil down to what appeals to you. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend the 7066 Earth Defense HQ. It's a great set, and since Alien Conquest is being discontinued this year, it won't be around for very long. You don't have to like Alien Conquest to appreciate 7066. Space Police III is also worth your time. For $40, the 5984 Lunar Limo is a decent purchase. It's not very "classic", really, but it was still a hit with the AFOLs. Most of the Space Police III sets had a nice consistent level of quality, so it's a good investment. If you're going for the classic stuff, anything from the 90s is generally gold. Everybody likes M-Tron, Blacktron I and II, Space Police I and II, and Ice Planet 2002. Just about every single set from these themes is available on Ebay for varying prices. Be prepared to bid competitively, though. Discontinued sets are always in high demand. But of course, I have to reiterate that it all depends on what your tastes are. UFO and Insectoids aren't known as LEGO Space greats, but I know that a handful of people love those themes. Of course, nostalgia has something to do with it too, which affects the perceived value. Here's a link for you: http://brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Space That might help you catch up on all the LEGO Space you may have missed, and where to buy them. Happy hunting!
  23. I'm not a big fan of the wolfman personally. I don't dislike him, but I find Dracula and Frankenstein much more appealing. Of course, we still have yet to see the other monsters up close, so I'm still trying to reserve my judgement until some REAL pictures get leaked. This theme doesn't have much of a Ghostbusters vibe, really, but I still think it's fun. Especially around Halloween!
  24. Helm's Deep looks amazing!
