Keep in mind that, this early on, the name could easily change. "Space Police" was originally "Galaxy Patrol". There are other instances of name-changes too, I just can't recall them. The theme could very well be called "Polar Xxpress" but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it changed before release. I would love some more light-blue colors, actually, I loved the Arctic Alpha Team wave to death. Would be awesome to see some more of that.

I'm not overly fond of any of the snake minifigures to be honest. The only exception is the hunchback orange-and-black snakeman that comes with the Samurai Mech. Pythor is clearly going to have very limited MOCing potential, which loses points in my book, and as many have said his mold isn't the greatest.

Wow, after watching the review, I'm actually tempted to get this.

I know this has been repeated again and again, but dang that castle is just fantastic!

Loving these reviews. I had the pleasure of picking up this set last summer, and it's still (mostly) built. In my opinion, it's a decent model, although it suffers from a couple of flaws. Mainly, the alien "ship" is barely even there, and the general design of the 4-wheeler is just a tad clunky. That said, it's not bad, and comes with some useful parts. Again, thanks for these reviews, they're a pleasure to read!

I think chances are good that it will. LEGO's been doing that lately and it wouldn't be hard to stick a B-Wing pilot into the cockpit.

Well, he never said it wasn't an "action" theme. What's interesting here is that it could really go any number of directions. Could be like Lost Planet: Or, it could be like some of the City offshoot themes we've seen before: Or something else entirely. Whatever it is, I think it will be interesting!

I've had to do the same. When I was less fiscally responsible I'd go out and pick up as much LEGO as I could, but now I've learned to save my money for the sets I really want and just let the other ones slide. It is tempting to snatch up a set because of the great pieces or figs, but I've only got 2 part-time jobs to pay for college so I can't really go over $300 annually. So, I'll probably be getting the Vampire Castle from this theme and leaving it at that (even though that Ghost Train looks delicious ). I'd love to pick up some of the other mid-priced sets, particularly the secret laboratory and vampire hearse, but alas my wallet is too skinny as it is.

Possibly inspired by the classic Ice Planet 2002? Or with less of a sci-fi flavor? Either way, this is intriguing. It could easily be an offshoot of LEGO City, or something completely different depending on what direction they take. Still, this is extremely early for any 2013 news. I don't see much point in speculating until we get to the latter half of 2012.

As I said when the set was announced, I love this design but I can't really bring myself to buy it. I'm as big of an R2D2 fan as the next guy, but for some reason I just can't justify the price tag here. Oh well, it was great to get such a detailed look at a lovely model. Great review!

I'm really glad LEGO's coming out with these, it seems that they're aware of how many people just want to collect the figs. Hopefully, I can get my hands up a bunch of these. Thanks for your review.

I'm personally going to leave the sticker off, which is unusual since I'm typically fine with stickers. But I just prefer the stylish, realistic look without the zany glow-in-the-dark elements, specifically on this model. I think it'll go much better with the Vampyre castle that way, as well. So glad that reviews are already popping up. Looking forward to seeing more.

I'm so in love with the concept of the classy rapier-wielding gentleman dueling with Dracula that I've just got to pick this one up. What a neat design. It looks much better in real life, too.

Which Lego Ninjago set attracts you the most?
Algernon replied to Omega X's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The only set I can see myself picking up is the Samurai Mech, because I enjoy the design and it seems reasonably priced. NinjaGo isn't my favorite theme, so I'm not too interested in the other releases (especially Epic Dragon Battle... I honestly don't see the appeal there at all...) If the Sonic Raider was at a lower price point, I'd consider it as well, but with so many other themes coming out this Summer I can't spare much room in the budget for NinjaGo. -
Nothing to report, I'm afraid; although we're more or less certain that the set exists, it has yet to be properly revealed. Everything is just speculation for now.

Why are the Agents sets so expensive these days?
Algernon replied to Faefrost's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It just happens. Agents was a well-loved theme, so demand is high (unusually high for an unlicensed theme). Same reason why a CMF Galaxy Patrol figure goes for $7.99 on Ebay while many of the other figures are half that. My advice is to look for large lots, since you often save money by buying in bulk. Otherwise, open-box or loose auctions tend to be much cheaper. You've really got to watch the aftermarket like a hawk, but you can get some good deals. Good luck! -
That really is a pity. I guess this just reinforces the fact that licensed LEGO themes are quickly eclipsing the more traditional ones, and LEGO purists are suffering for it. There's a reason why the Cuusoo projects that succeed are all based on established intellectual properties... how can there be demand for something that doesn't exist on the toy market in any meaningful way? The only upside to this is that LEGO hasn't necessarily forgotten about Space, and we're likely to see a new unlicensed theme in the future. Just probably not until some of the current licenses run out.

The functionality is surely impressive. It's great to see so much care and detail put into the AFOL-oriented sets. Can't wait to pick this up!

I agree. I like the design of this one a lot. I'm not really too big on this theme, but sweet mech designs are always welcome in my book.

I am absolutely in love with the castle! The aesthetics are so gothic and richly detailed. The figs are great, too. I've never owned a LEGO castle before so I'm excited to make this my first! It does seem pretty early for these sets to start showing up in stores, but hey, I'm not complaining. I like the ghost train, but I don't think I like it enough to spend $80 on it. A couple of other sets, like the mummy, don't appeal to me much either. It's just as well, my budget for LEGO this year has already been shot to hell.

Where can you usually find the polybag sets?
-
I almost couldn't finish reading that list due to the pain. That Star Wars tax has definitely not let up... still, I might try to budget for the sith interceptor, even if this means Jabba's Palace is a no go. At least the Skiff is somewhat affordable.

That set is looking better each time I see it.

I like the mini-model! I'll probably wind up getting it, since I am very likely to pick up this beauty on June 1st.

Collectable Minifigures: Feeling the Packets
Algernon replied to Jedi master Brick's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't understand this logic. It would only stop another kid from completing his collection if that kid was ALSO feeling the packets. Otherwise, he would have a 1/16th chance like everyone else (in theory). Also, I don't put minifigures in my mouth. It's a little different. Personally I see nothing wrong with feeling the packets, and since I'm sure that different people will be seeking out different figs, I don't think anybody loses. This is a bizarre comment to make on a forum tailored specifically to adult LEGO fans. While I don't find it hard to believe that a number of AFOLs may be socially impaired to some degree, I don't see what army building would have to do with it. I'm in my twenties and I love LEGO as much now as I did as a kid, and guess what? I party with my chums, go on dates with attractive women, maintain a stable job and achieve excellent grades in school. I don't think I'm an exception to the rule - there really isn't much of a correlation between the kind of hobbies you have and your social ability. The real kicker is in how you TREAT your hobbies. If LEGO is your life, then you might want to re-prioritize a little. If LEGO is something you enjoy collecting with your spare cash, then good for you! It's better to blow it on something creative than a night at the bar (which can be just as expensive, believe me). Sorry for the rant, but that comment just seems insipid to me.
