To be honest, I don't know why everybody has a problem with the "official" version of the Hulk. He doesn't look any more Megabloks-y to me than the large Troll minifigs from the Castle Fantasy Era. And it is much more proportionate.

The Space Marines are almost enough honestly, what an awesome minifig design!
-
Those new pictures are very flattering indeed Is there any word on when this will be available?

That is a gorgeous model. I just love the functionality and the attention to the plane's shape. Awesome colors, too. I don't usually buy exclusive "collector's" sets like this, but with a reasonable price point I might just snatch this up... I really hope that LEGO continues with models like these, they are quite collectable!

Insectoids was underrated in my opinion. I may be biased because I grew up with them, but I always thought they were charmingly sinister. A similar kind of theme, like a modern evil alien race, could be really cool for 2013. I doubt LEGO would attempt it, but I'd be fully supportive if they did.

Great review, WhiteFang. I always did like the look of this set, but never had the chance to pick it up. If I find it on sale, I'll probably fix that! If you're collecting Alien Conquest sets before they get discontinued, I'd highly recommend getting the Earth Defense HQ as soon as you can. It's on sale pretty much everywhere and it's one of the best Space sets in recent memory. I got it for $60 and I can safely say it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. Thanks for a second look at this great set, I may go pick it up now.

I'm definitely picking up that Jetski. Looks great.

I thought we had a picture of Nick Fury somewhere.

There's a pretty big demand for Marvel minifigures, so this would probably work, although don't expect to get a ton of money back.

This set looks great. While I agree that the minifig lineup could have been better, it's still an awesome model and a great way to pick up a good number of the Avengers if you haven't gotten any of the smaller sets. It is a little pricey, though, so I won't be picking this up anytime soon. Thanks for the very detailed review!

Saw the entire Marvel line-up at my local Wal-Mart today, and picked up the Captain America set. It's quite nice, I recommend it for the minifigs alone. Probably gonna pick up the rest of them at some point.

The construction here really is brilliant. I can't think of any suggestions, it's fantastic. The gore is amazingly believable. I hope to see more from you!

Since a lot of Summer sets are starting to inch closer to launch, I wonder when we'll start seeing these on shelves? It's more or less the only new non-licensed theme we're getting this year, I hope it gets some love.
-
There is no official Space theme this year. Alien Conquest is being retired, as it was always planned to be a one-wave theme. The intense focus on licensed themes is probably to blame for this. That said, there's no information on next year yet, so 2013 is a real possibility for a new LEGO Space theme. But again, everything is speculation at this point. (and personally, the licensed themes look so good, my wallet is thankful for it. )

This is my favorite set from the Marvel wave. Great price, great minifigures, and a decent jeep with some useful parts. Definitely a must-have for me! Thanks for the great review! Hope to see the resized pics soon.

I saw the Captain America set in-stock at Target online and almost drove out to go check, but after reading some posts on here I think I'll just wait until the 8th. It definitely seems like LEGO is looking to officially release these sets next week, and is just shipping out the sets to retailers for Monday's launch. Oh well, I can wait a little longer.

Review: 6868 Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout
Algernon replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Again, thanks for the fantastic review! Real excellent photography. It's great to see these minifigs close up. Personally, I'm not big on this set. As usual, the minifigs are nice, but the set is pretty bare-bones for the asking price. I'll be happy to skip this one (even if it means forgoing the Hulk minifigure...) Great review as usual! -
REVIEW: 6865 Captain America's Avenging Cycle
Algernon replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I like this set, mostly for the minifigs. Since it's cheap, I'll probably pick it up. Thanks for the nice and early review. -
Review: 6866 Wolverine's Chopper Showdown
Algernon replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great review! Could we get a few more shots of the chopper by any chance? I'm probably in the minority, but this set doesn't do much for me. The chopper is a little blocky and the only minifig I really like is Magneto. I'm more interested in the Cosmic Cube Escape, which is the same price and more enticing minifigs. Thanks for taking the time to do this! -
Checked my local Wal-Mart and K-Mart today for the Marvel wave, and was disappointed to see very poor selections at both stores. However, K-Mart is having a BOGO 50% off sale on a lot of Star Wars sets, if anybody's interested.

Thanks guys. Maybe I'll make a freighter or something to go with it!
-
Perhaps. But I collect minifigs based on how cool they are, not really how accurate they are. Still looking forward to adding her to my collection.
-
The Avengers minifigs are definitely the best in my opinion.
-
The bio sounds a lot cooler than the set.

Unfortunately for my wallet, I'm starting to find myself irresistibly drawn to these sets. My poor wallet... Some of those minifigs are just too good to pass up. The Quinjet is great, and I'm probably going to pick up the Captain America and Jeep set as well. Great builds and better figs. Maybe I can at least wait until the movie comes out.
