Nice job with that shuttle, I always wanted to have the official lego set but never had the chance of getting it and now, with the coming of the new Tydirium in the summer wave, I thought it was way too big, but I managed to build most of the vehicle above with my available bricks and realized is actually quite small, the new one its actually going to be about the same size than yours with some amazing building techniques and functions.

Mexico . Its actually about the same size as the old one, this one could fit the two guards but very tightly by modifying the little platform, its interior is narrower for structural purposes, the old set had too many flaws for my taste and the latest one will dwarf everything else I have. Thanks for your comments.

Haha, that's just what came to my mind.

Don't you realize we are being victims of the "new hat" strategy with Vader and Sabine?
-
That looks good, but is a little wide, it actually is quite similar in length of the frontal panel (the "face" of the cockpit), I have a couple questions for you: how does the inside of the cockpit look? does it fit comfortably the minifigs? did you finished your shuttle?

With the incoming of the new sets, I hoped to see a new imperial shuttle up to my expectations, however, I didnt like its size or shape of the cockpit so I decided to make my own, unfortunately, I dont have the bricks so it was built in LDD (bricklink doesn't ship to my country), tell me what do you think. ANOTHER UPDATE ( )02-04-2015: Now the wings are on the correct position while on flight and in landing mode without those awful friction bricks (more pics below): Dibujo3 by Nom Carver, on Flickr The wings fold manually one at the time: 10 by Nom Carver, on Flickr But they now stay in the position they should be: 2 by Nom Carver, on Flickr It has a rotating mobile turret on the rear: 13 by Nom Carver, on Flickr It also has place for the emperor and its royal guard: 17 by Nom Carver, on Flickr C&C are welcome. prototype cockpits (yet to be incorporated): shuttle 6 by Nom Carver, on Flickr 7 by Nom Carver, on Flickr 1 by Nom Carver, on Flickr

What a shame, thanks for the reply anyway.

Do you remind how was the cockpit of the Tydirium built or what kind of bricks were used? or does it use a new cockpit/windshield piece?
-
Lots of thanks man!!! that is a much better set description!, can you tell me how was the cockpit of the shuttle built please?
-
I have some questions for those who will be there, what kind of cockpit will the Tyderium have? what are its dimensions? how many minifigs does it fit?

[MOD] Tie Advanced Prototype from Star Wars Rebels
Nom Carver replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great job! that is just what I would do with the set, you really managed to improve the look of that vehicle with the corrected colors and shape, I understand why lego tries to put too many play features on some sets, but some times they get in the way of the vehicle design making it look odd (not so much in this case), I actually MODed my own sets in the same fashion you did in this one by removing the useless play features and correcting some shapes and colors. -
Thats proves that not all of the crappy stuff from the clone wars came only from George Lucas, Dave Filoni also had his share of guilt, but this is a kids tv show, expect a lot more in the future.

I always wanted to have the Tydirium or any lambda class shuttle, I have no doubt TLG will be making an absolutely amazing new vehicle, but I also hope it wont be too tiny. I am not sure about the prices but the list seems to be legitimate
-
I dont think so, TLG has also some stepbacks like the MTT, AAT and star destroyer (the latest AT TE was also smaller), a lower piece count and smaller size will be seen more often in future sets, it seems they are saving the smart and inventive new building techniques and details for the more expensive UCS sets and exclusive large sets, I have no problem with it since I am not much of a fan of huge sets but it will certainly mess up the scale of the vehicles with each other (even though they were never supposed to be in scale but their size looked fine in most sets in the past)

I am glad you finded a usefull pick, I saw it at FBTB but couldnt copy the URL, thanks GallardoLU.
-
It depends on what do you like better, accuracy, sturdiness, or classic look, compare them your self here: I like the blocky one better (7657) because its sturdiness, its solid as a rock, about the feet on the most recent one, I think this brick: in dark grey would make it look better.

Great! I will update the first page later, thanks mhortar.

Thanks again just2good, this may be my only purchase for next year (unless there is something fairly good coming with the summer wave).
-
Those are good news and thanks for the skyhopper review!, that one is a lot more interesting for my taste.
-
I would like to have a close look at those new grey stormtroopers, is there any chance of seeing a review of that set just2good ?
-
I see, thanks.

So, that's it? is the season over? so far it kicked off better than the clone wars (CGI), if it's progress goes similar that show, we may end up pretty good.
