News LEGO Architecture 2013 Discusion
darkrebellion replied to GRogall's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I have been a recurrent reader of Eurobricks since 2005 and keep up to date on everything that gets posted here even though I no longer collect LEGO. I still have a really big LEGO Star Wars collection (Of around +120 sets) but all of them are cleanly and safely packed for the future now. I stopped collecting as my cinephile heart started growing (Along my current DVD/BD Collection) and will study both Political Sciences and Filmmaking in the near future. I just wanted to make a little introduction in case anybody hear remembered me from those good old days (I stopped posting around 2009). I plan to start collecting LEGO Architecture now because the line is incredibly appealing to me and each set brings a huge smile to my face. This thread is usually quite lonely but with the latest reveal of the UN Headquarters set I finally decided to get back into the community and start posting on this thread. I have to admit I own none of the Architecture sets but plan on getting them all eventually. Any good place to start? Also, any upcoming sets that might have been heavily rumored? I wish the Architecture line starts opening up to a wider spectrum of buildings. There are many emblematic buildings around the world that have the potential of making many more great sets.- 174 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
darkrebellion replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The Interceptor turned out really great. I think this design improves in about every way I wished for. The X-wing now looks... really good . I am surprised but I think the clearer pics help the set a lot. The engines keep looking a bit small but the additional detail help them come out more prominently. Also, the laser cannons are now longer and way better this time around. The wings seem to be able to fully close this time around. Really happy with what I can see. Now, where is that Y-wing? -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
darkrebellion replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great to see final packing at last !!! I can't say I am terribly excited just yet. Sure, there are some really nice sets this wave but some of my most anticipated left me cold. The TIE Fighter re-design is clearly the top set of the January wave, it not only has great minifigures but is also the best looking in both, design and accuracy (Or as close as you can get to something like that in a LEGO set). The X-wing, in the other hand, is completely underwhelming. The whole ship doesn't improve much and is another lost opportunity to correct does horrificly sized engines. The designer decided to extend the overall wingspan and ship nose but forgot to re-size the engines. They now look even worse than the last issued. All the rest of the sets are good, especially the Droid Escape, which, although a small one, is a piece I would gladly buy in the correct price-point. Nowdayas, I don't buy sets with the same frecuency I used to do so; some members in these forums even know me from years now, but I have sadly grow apart from my original hobby . That is probably the main reason of why I am loving this little mini-ship concept. All of them look appealing to me and I will happily get them all, small collectibles that will keep me away from completely drifiting apart of a beloved hobby I once strongly supported. Just a last note to anyone who knew me years before I stopped posting frecuently; I didn't stop collecting LEGO SW because I don't like them anymore but, as the time passed on, new experiences and hobbies started to surface and the budget begun to shrink. I still visit Eurobricks every days, just to follow the latest discussions and of course to see how all of you guys are doing . -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

But the fact that these are licensed sets make them cost more . While the Ninjago Spinners could be sold at a relatively small price these new concept sets should be worthwhile to get our money back. Aside from the Y-wing and X-wing, these new sets are what I am most excited about as I don't collect as much as I did some years ago (Dark Ages ) so small sets are highly welcomed as impulse purchases. If these end up being collectable I might buy them all and display them in my desk or something . -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
darkrebellion replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I would actually prefer a Boontha Eve Race set ! Sure, getting Sebulba in another set that just came out isn't the most exciting prospect but I would like the TLC to release more complete podracers in the future. This kind of vehicles are really great looking, it is a shame TLC just seems to care about Sebulba and Anakin's ones. Mirandir, have you seen the size of this sets? Are they MINI scale like those in the Advent Calendar? I would like a cross between MIDI and MINI for these ones. -

Now THIS ia a great list of sets ! Finally the TLC is stepping up in the game with new sets for all the audiences. The majority of OT sets is impressive considering the scarcity of the last years. Even thought I own every version of the sets listed, I am extremely excited for the new ones. I especially want to see the new Y-wing. The vehicle is great and a new version can only improve in the last outing which was awesome to begin with . -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
darkrebellion replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
After re-reading some of these rumors I started wondering something (And would be very thankful if Mirandir can clear it up a bit ). Are these "new" concept sets going to be put together? And in which sense? Are they something more in the vein of the smaller Jabba's Palace sets in the way that can be "connected" or are they similar to the Jedi Defense ones where neither went "together" but complemented each other thematically? Sorry if the questions and/or example are a bit messy but it is really late right now and it seems like I need some sleep . -

So it is a Mustafar-themed set ? Sounds actually really cool. I just wonder if the little "add-ons" will be substantial. I mean, the ETA-2 seems like the highlight or main part of the set but, do the platform actually look like something from Mustafar? Or is it just a random and small dark-grey element? -
LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace TV Special
darkrebellion replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I can't believe how much I enjoyed it ! The animation was great, the subtle sound effects and themes from the OT were really welcomed and the final twist was awesome . Let's hope the TLC will release more of this in the future. -
LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer
darkrebellion replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow, I didn't thought the set would be so poorly received , I think it looks really good at this point. The bottom is definitely the weakest aspect of the set but it shouldn't be a problem for me, I plan to display the set in a desk shorter than my legs so nobody would notice it. I also like it because of the sheer size of it, in the video the set looks absolutely massive already and most of the time I end more impressed after the build. Every single person who enters in my "Display" room find the Death Star II amazing and I can tell you it isn't because of the stability and all those thing but because of the impact it creates and I like my UCSs sets to make that impact. Even from this very moment I can assure you all my guests will be in love with this set (And so I will ). The price was expected in my opinion. It is a big set, it is a Star Wars set, most Star Wars sets are insanely overpriced now. This set and the Podracers will look amazing in the collection . -
This must be the most impressing SW model I have ever seen. Everything from the perfect angled sides, the completely lit interior, the hulking scale of the model to those minor details that give it an authentic feel like the small stairs at the bottom and the converoy belt inside the workshop. Truly a masterful work .
-
I know System-sets are never completely accurate but never since I started collecting the line back in 2001 have I seen such a representation of a vehicle/scene . I don't mind minor inaccuracies like wrong-angled wings in the Snowspeeder or over/minor sized vehicle sections, that doesn't really bother me at all since I have came to undestand that not everything can be exactly replicated and function as a toy at the same time. In this case, however, the designer seems to have just thrown a bunch of random sections together with no coherent relation between them at all. For the TLC to release a LSW set they must first get it approved by Lucasfilms. It is surprising they decided to give this thing a go since everything apart from the minifigures isn't recognizable at all.
-
First, thanks a lot supersonic for the new pic . Back in to the set, I am REALLY dissapointed . Don't really know what the designer of that set was thinking at the time but that bunch of random elements don't even come close to resemble the Hoth Echo Base. The only recognizable scene in the whole set is the Bacta Tank Chamber and that just occupies one corner of the whole thing. Everything else appears absurdly out of place. Random walkway? Random radar dishes everywhere? Random turrets on top of the left wing of the base? It is not a badly designed set on it's own but is a blasphemous attempt at recreating one of the most recognizable battles in the whole saga. The minifigures are pretty good; sure, I wished we got some new characters instead of just one recolored protocol droid but to be honest, minifigures alone don't really sell me a set. They obviously need to be worthwhile but I see the ones included here as such so that not a big issue for me. What is horribly wrong is the base itself. Just after we got some great and truly remarkable playsets in The Battle of Endor and the Home One this comes from nowhere to bring back shame over LSW playsets. In my eyes, this must be the worst designed LSW set so far for the line. Why? Because the designer achieved for the first time in the history of the line to make a set nowhere close in apperance to that of its source material .

As a Lego Star Wars collector, I have been waiting for an Executor-Class Star Dreadnought for years ! These must be the best news of the whole year and deffinitely my most anticipated set. I love how the TLC stucked with the original color palette instead of going for the Star Destroyer look. The Executor is dark grey with some blue in it, and this color captures that essence perfectly. The size, the plates at the sides, the comparative Star Destroyer, the minifigures, everything is better than I wished for. To be honest, the only other thing that will make this better is if they include all the Bounty Hunters presented at the boarding scene. This includes Zuckuus and 4-LOM.

I am really glad to see all these new great sets. For once, the SW line seems to be getting stronger and more balanced. The first wave I really like since 2007, in my opinion, the best and most well-rounded year for the theme. I won't be able to afford all of this sets and there will probably be a big OT set later this year (The rumored Cloud City) so I will just comment in the ones I am sure I will get . Anakin and Sebulba Podracers: I honestly can't be more happy! Since I started collecting LSW, I have wanted at least one podracer and never was able to get one at all. Last year, the rumor of this set came out and I was more than excited. Then, we saw the preliminary pics and the sets looked like a dream come true. Well, the Toy Fair just turned them into one of the best sets I have ever seen. Anakin's Podracer looks great for a vehicle of that size. The subtle details around the front engine are are amazing and the size looks about right in terms of scale. Sebulba's Podracer is the real winner here. This has to be one of the best vehicle the LSW team has ever desgined. The amount of details in those engines is astonishing. The grilled front, the middle white strip perfectly integrated at the sides, the whole back are, the greatly improved cockpit. I can go on and on and don't really summarize the details. The stands are a great idea. The fact that the base of each one tries to replicate the dusty surface of Tattoine is a plus. The minifigures are perfect. Wald, Anakin and Obi-Wan are a bonus compared to Sebulba and, especially, Watto. Sebulba looks like an actual Dug this time and Watto has the potential to become my new favorite minifigure. I have always wanted to own a Toydarian and the details in Watto are unbelievable. Can't really understand how much the TLC has progressed in minifigure quality terms this last three years. This is one of my dream sets. Ewok Attack: Definitely not as great as the magnificent Podracers but a really amazing set non the less. The tree is little but detailed and full of green (Something not seen a lot nowadays). The Speeder Bike is fairly generic but a nice addition for a set this size (Because, really, wishing for an AT-ST would have been a bit unrealistic). The minifigure selection is the real highlight. The Biker Scout is a great kind of troop I will gladly add to my collection once again. The detaile on the new Ewoks is amazing. The markings, the color and the fact the TLC went the extra mile and gave us not only one but TWO totally new Ewoks instead of recycling the ones in the Battle of Endor is what solds me on the set. Another must-own set. The more I look at the new Podracers, the more I wish the TLC releases at least one more set with them. A new Mawhonic, Aldar Beedo or Gasgano will do with me but if they want to simply make me pass away then, well, they will release the Ben Quadrinaros' Podracer as a S@H exclusive of some kind .

Poll: what Battle Scene would you like to see next?
darkrebellion replied to Sir von Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
What about the battle between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett in the asteroid field? The cracked asteroids would be quite challening if trying to replicate the sismic bombs effect. A custom Jedi Starfighter and Slave I and you got yourself an impressive diorama. I know it isn't a "big" battle but I have never seen that particular scene replicated. -
What about one of the Cantina Band members ? Or in a very dreaming way a totally new Max Rebo !
-
Great! Finally some clear and quality pics ! I don't know from where to start commenting so I will just list my thoughts on each set: Ewok Attack: MUST BUY! I really like this set. Even thought we already have a Speeder Bike and the small Catapult that came with the Battle of Endor set it is great to see and vastly improved version of the later. The minifigures are perfect, more minifigures would have been great but honestly we can't really blame the TLC for the ones that come. Simply spot-on, the Scout Trooper is nice and the fact that they made TWO new Ewoks is something that I didn't thought they would do. The Black Ewok is probably my most wanted minifigure of this wave next to Watto. Dathomir Speeder: Great minifigures but I am not really all that much into CW in the moment so it will probably have to wait. Geonosian Fighter: Another great set. The fighter looks like an improvement over the last one and seems like a much more solid build (The last one was quite flimsy). I hope Ki-Adi-Mundi is non-CW based but I sincerely doubt that. It is really a shame the TLC never full-filled our wishes back then when CW minifigures didn't exist. The Geonosian looks new and being an alien I don't really mind the fact that it is CW-based. Anakin and Sebulba Podracers: FINALLY! This has to be my most wanted set ever since I start collecting LEGO SW. I never had the opportunity to get neither of the first podracers sets even thought I really really wanted them. It is great to see the TLC didn't took the short route for this ones. Both vehicles are GREAT and look like a joy to display. The minifigures are great too. Obi-Wan and Anakin while not really outstanding are good, the small green alien (Probably Greedo) is something I am looking forward to see and the new Sebulba is GREAT (Can't see the minifigure but from the pic it looks like a new mold or simply a repaint). Watto has to be my single most wanted minifigure SINCE I started collecting too. I always liked the look of the Toydarians and Watto was the only possible way the TLC could give us one. It looks like a repaint but after see what they did to Jar-Jar I must say I am really excited right now. Sith Infiltrator: Looks like a big set this time around. The size is a big improvement over the last ones and the minifigure selection is magnificent. PADME! That should resume everything I have to say about the minifigures in this set and Panaka just adds the cherry on top of that uber-fantastic banana split . The ship looks really nice and the way they made the side panels is something quite eye-catching. Republic Frigate: Most people compare it to the latest efforts of the TLC of producing large Republican cruisers but this looks like an exact copy to another set... the original 7665 Republic Cruiser. While the first cruiser was a great set this seems like the same ship with new paint coat. That seems rather lazy from the TLC and I really want them to stop giving us this large Republic ships and totally forgetting about the MUCH more interesting Separatist vehicles (In both color and shapes). The minifigures are still too blurry but it seems like we get Quilan Vos in the set bad thing they just gave us another Anakin in the T-6 Shuttle, that seems like cheating to me. This will be a pass. Millennium Falcon: Glad to see they finally decided to release another minifigure scale one. The sad part is that we still don't get the really expected RotJ version of it. The Falcon looks really similar to the last one too (One that I own), can't believe how after 7 years between releases they couldn't came up with a smarter design. The minifigures are just boring at this point. I can't get most of them in way smaller and cheaper sets now. Still sad about the RotJ thing .

Simply... stunning. A truly magnificent collection in all the definition of the word. Where do you keep all the sets stored? Do you have a special room for it or are they stored within their boxes most of the time? If you have a room dedicated to them it should be a small museum inside of your house (I have a special room for my collection and most of the time my friends joke with the fact that they think it is kinda like a mini-museum ). Congratulations for what probably is the most complete collection of LSW I have ever seen, you have something truly special in your hands.

To me, the LEGO Star Wars (LSW) line has been going within the wrong path since 2008 . I am not a fan who blames the CW for how far the line has gone but one who can't ignore the poor decisions the TLC has been making lately. I still remember that year with my AFOL eyes as the one who almost pulled me out of this hobby (Just by looking the frequency of my posts pre-post 2008 and how active I have been in the forums can give you an idea). I don't hate TCW-based sets, in fact, in 2008 most of my purchases were TCW-based sets, from the Magnaguard Starfighter to the Republic Fighter Tank. I don't hate TCW series neither, I browse each episode since the series started. If I don't have a problem with neither the show or the sets than why I was pulled out in such a drastic way may you ask, well, it is probably because each of my wishes have been full-filled since 2008, leaving some of the greatest points from the line and changing them for lackluster new ones. Battlepacks? Check, EU-based sets? Check, Tons of new molds? Check. No more small-priced sets like the Twin Pod Cloud Car? Check, Too many TCW-based sets and EU stuff? Check, Even more pricey sets coming each year? Check. I am throughly disappointed with the direction the TLC has taken as you may see . I wished for the TLC to release battlepacks back in 2006 but I never wanted to see them stopping the production of small-sized sets like the Clone Scout Walker. I wished for the existence of more EU-based stuff but I never thought they would almost focus solely on them while leaving behind most of the PT and OT-based stuff. I wished for new and more exciting minifigures but I never wanted to pay buckets of money to get some nearly unknown and obscure characters. It was great to see the TLC taking a new direction but they steered the wheel of their ship to one side while forgetting the side that made the line such a success in the first place. The future is not a single bit brighter and the sad thing is that I wished for all of it.

Great to see new and clearer pics . My opinions on each set are the next: Clone Trooper Battlepack: This is a sure winner, great minifig variety and a nice detailed vehicle. Mandalorian Battlepack: I don't really know what to do about this set, you know, I don't really like this armor design, the color mainly, after the great new Boba Fett minifigure this ones pale in comparison. I don't know why the TLC wasted pieces giving us that ugly little turret, I would have prefer those piece being used in the speeder bike by adding detail to it instead of giving us half done models in both instances. Battle of Naboo: Looks really cool, the new Jar Jar and Gungan Soldier minifigs almost make for the price of the set just by themselves. V-wing Fighter: That silver Astromech minifigure must be the most awesome the TLC has released, enough said. Bounty Hunter's Ship: This one doesn't look as great now, the minifigures are quite boring too. T-6 Shuttle: Shaak Ti and Saesee Tinn are both amazing minifigures I just would have liked to own them as non-CW minifigs...

Read the forums regularly but I don't post so much so here are some ides I just thought: Boonta Eve Classic The set come with new redesigned versions of Sebulbas' Podracer, Anakin's Podracer, Gasgano's Podracer and Aldar Beedo's Podracer. The start/finish line can also be included using little details and a red/green light feature. The special features of each podracer would be: - Sebulba: Hidden saw and flamethrower in each engine and detachable cockpit. - Anakin: Detachable cockpit and movable engine in-takes. - Gasgano: Hidden blade and movable engine in-takes. - Aldar Beedo: Hidden weapon and small storage compartment. Minifigures: Sebulba, Gasgano, Aldar Beedo, Anakin Skywalker, Qui-Gon Jinn, Padme Amidala (Young), Shimi Skywalker, Watto, 4 Pit Droids (Each personalized to it's racer), Fodesinbeed (Double-headed Guy). Accesories: 3 Canisters, 1 lightsaber, 4 flags. I don't really know why this vehicles are so particularly forgotten by the TLC and AFOLs alike. In my opinion one of the most visually impressive LEGO SW set the TLC has released was the Mos Espa Podracers and they are the first big SW set ever release, just imagine how great they will be if released by today's standards and techniques.

The new printig for Jar Jar is simply spot-on. Awesome, awesome, awesome minifigure. The Gungan Soldier isn't far behind . It's funny how most of us are talking about Jar Jar as something awesome when most of the time we are just bashing over him .
-
At last some new pics! Finally this thread is alive again . The Battle of Geonosis is definitely the best set I have seen so far for 2011. I really like how the TLC sometimes try to give us new and fresh sets ideas instead of more "Jedi" Starfighters or another random Republic ship. The Separatists have always had the best ship and vehicle designs! This Proton Cannon is simply spot-on. The eyes are definitely the best part of it and I really like the fact that it comes with a new Luminara. It's a shame they get rid of Quilan Vos to be honest. It is really possible we will get him in a set in the summer wave but I really liked the fact that we can get three anticipated Jedi in one medium sized set. Can't believe what they did to Shaak Ti thought. I already knew that as a CW set she will have cartoony eyes but I can't stand that my most anticipated Jedi comes in CW style .
