  1. If you have a pet/familiar/girl/boyfriend/split personality that's one thing, but if it ends up being a crutch for your roleplaying, you should probably reconsider. I don't mind them otherwise - Zepher, CallMePie, and Flitwick all play their companion roles exceptionally well, without letting it interfere with their quests. And they've all happened by happy chance or something similar, such as Thothwick meeting Hoptet or Boomingham becoming a Paladin. Atramor had the chicken from day one, but who knew it was demonic? Besides, they all have their own well-defined characters besides the companions, which I think is ideal. Agreed.
  2. Just to throw my two cents in, I agree with Zepher and Kintobor on this whole debate on rule changes. Of course none of us mean any disrespect, but it's not a really a community game if one person can change things how he sees fit, now is it? Now, I understand you made an informed decision based on experience in your own quest, but when the majority disagrees and offers alternative solutions, then I think you should take that into account. I don't think it's wise to change rules based on single occurrences without having a community discussion about it first, regardless of who created what or who devoted however many hours. We, the players, also appreciate all the work you put in Sandy (very much!), but it's a two-sided coin. When you change the rules without a discussion, it discourages anyone from contributing and the viewpoint of one person can be flawed (even if you are the creator - again, I have to rub it in about Healing Staves and the Pheles Rod ). Now that we've had a discussion about said rule and you compromised at least a little, I can respect that you did eventually listen to what people were saying and took that into account, even if you didn't compromise completely. And regarding this rule in particular, it should bear warning that overcomplicating the rules discourages people from QMing, thus detracting from the community aspect of the game as well. What's done is done, and in summary, I just think it's important for everyone to at least take into account the opinions of others regarding the rules of this game, creator or not, even if it doesn't entirely change their opinions. The community is what has kept this game running for the past 2.5 years, and I don't expect that to change.
  3. I would just leave it completely up to the QM, or like what was suggested before, just have certain enemies be immune. I'm not a fan of the enemy type specializations, sense or no. The same goes for the Sylvan Ranger's Taming. What's next, Aura doesn't affect dragons and giants because they're too big? Also, I disagree with rule change/clarification on throwing weapon retrieval. A lot of things don't make sense from the back row, such as attacking with a dagger. If you can't reach your thrown weapon from the back row, then you can't score a hit with a five-inch blade, either. If we base all the rules on what's the most realistic, we are going to have a big mess. Since when have RPGs ever made perfect sense with mechanics?
  4. I really liked Atramor's little solo desert scene. There wasn't anything especially outstanding about it RP-wise, but Atramor by himself is just fun to read and watch. Nice job overall Pie. Too bad you really can't do anything now. (On that note, haven't we learned that removing a PC from the party with nothing to do for extended periods of time, essentially removing that player from the quest for who-knows-how-long, is a bad idea?)
  5. Besides not finding other imps on Olegaia as of yet, probably failing Quest 50. He has an outstanding (x3) rep with the Ji Pei now, but that was an important part of proving himself.
  6. Until enough people sign up. We usually give about a week once we have a good number, in case more people want to join. In this case it might be better to wait until the Baltorak trilogy ships out. Right now I think there are only one or two heroes signed up exclusively for the FoG.
  7. "Right, I think I remember seeing you and Tarn right after you got back. Congratulations again, heheh..." There was no malice in his voice, but Hybros still looked at the ground as he said it. "It seems that you are well rested now. This business in Baltorak... have you ever been there before?"
  8. Hybros sells his Silver Ore and two vials of Venom for 65 gold. He then buys three deadly-looking Pumpkin Bombs from Elphaba for 180 gold. He leaves with a total of 858 gold.
  9. Hybros sat in the Hall, pondering his next move as he watched Tesni sign her name under a quest. COme to think of it, he hadn't checked even looked at the other quests available before signing onto 87. That ship had sailed, so he decided to investigate. A return to Baltorak would be welcome - he remembered his brief two-year stay there, and felt somewhat more welcome among the rejected greenskin minorities. He signed on for Quests 88, 89, and 90. It didn't matter who the employer or what the job was, he decided. He then approached Tesni, the barbaric woman he knew from the fruitless trip to Xu. "Hello, Tesni. I hope you have not forgotten little old me, hehehe. How have your recent travels been?"
  10. Hybros returns to the Hall, energized by the swift trip to the Fields of Glory. He notices a quest about to depart, and eagerly signs his name under Quest 87.
  11. Hybros buys four Phoenix Incenses, and returns to the Hall. OOC: Thanks CallMePie!
  12. Pala, it's almost painful to read your posts. I can't distinguish between OOC and IC, and it seems like most of your posts are all OOC anyway. Can't you just post questions here, and use grey font in-thread if needed?
  13. OOC: Nur will have to remove the Shackles of War if we want to flee now. Too bad, that was a lot of GP. Also, I should not have gained WP since I killed with the Bladerang and not the sword. And I'm not sure how or when this happened, but I'm missing my Sticky Gloves from my inventory. "Pretzel, toss that Smoke Bomb." Hybros attacks Hodgepodges B and C from the front row. Battle Order: Nagure Nagure Stigveladi Sylph Nur Nur Hybros Hybros Pretzel Pretzel
  14. "Ehehm, right you are, monk." Hybros was beginning to wonder who the Party Leader was, or should be. He switches his targets to Hodgepodges A and B.
  15. "Ugh... well thank you for not eating me while I was down, Nagure... heheh." Hybros gets up and throws his Banana Bladerang (twice if necessary) at Hodgepodge A and Pumpkinface H. If his first hit connects, then he will use his sword instead. "Sylph, I think you can finish Pumpkinface C." Battle Order: Pretzel Pretzel Nur Nur Nagure Nagure Hybros Hybros Amma Sylph
  16. I would totally be for a buff on Cannoneer to include those 10- and 100-damage dealing bombs. Maybe "Craft Bomb" could include a chance for those, something like 3/6 for regular bombs, 2/6 for Military Grade, and 1/6 for the 100-damage ones?
  17. "I will take care of the Rabbit, heheh. Sylph, take Pumpkinfaces H and I. That will leave the Hodgepodges and the blinded Pumpkin for free hits." Hybros consumes a Health Core and attacks the White Rabbit from the back row. Battle Order: Hybros Hybros Pretzel Pretzel Nagure Nagure Nur Nur Sylph Sylph Stigveladi Stigveladi
  18. "Ehem, dwarf, Nur already has that one, go for another Pumpkinface." "Oh, and Nur, I have been called many things, but never a gnome before... hehehe."
  19. On that note, I'd really like to see other QMs host quests with the opportunity to gain access to non-House Expert Classes. I know that I won't be hosting a Rito quest any time soon, but Winged Warrior shouldn't be incredibly rare to get because of it. There wouldn't even have to be Rito involved in getting it, actually, because there are other flying creatures (dragons, wereravens... mechanical wings or airships could even pass).
  20. Really looking forward to these. If I go on one, It'll be interesting to see things from the other side of the game.
  21. OOC: Pie, there are two Pumpkinface E's. And as usual, their health is wrong, We really ought to fix that sometime. Hybros' eyes widen at the sight of the horde of the tough creatures. The Pumpkinsface's were more terrifying, the Roly Polys were spikier, and even the rabbit seemed more intimidating. However, he drew his sword with confidence. "We have slain others in these Fields with ease. You will be no different, hehehe." He proceeded to attack Pumpkinfaces A and B from the back row. "Everyone, focus on the Pumpkins and Rabbit for now." Battle Order: Hybros Hybros Nagure Pretzel Pretzel Stigveladi Stigveladi Nur Nur Sylph
  22. Any of those would be fine with me. Since Brickdoctor's idea seems to be the most popular, we can go with that.
  23. Loot Distribution: Nur: Grand Potion, Remedy, 2x Venom Sylph: Remedy, 2x Venom Hybros: Grand Potion, 2x Venom Pretzel: Remedy, 2x Venom Amma: Remedy, Venom Nagure: Remedy, Venom "Let us go to the Central Sanctuary to rest, then the Pumpkin Patch. I think the farmer said something about apocalyptic conditions there...? Ehehm, whatever that means, eheh..." Hybros rests in his bedroll at the Sanctuary and drinks a Nostrum.
  24. That's exactly what I was saying - in your case, too, it's just a really powerful build; no single item makes it broken. I wouldn't at all be opposed to this. <You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it.> In all seriousness, though, I am well aware that things are left completely to the dice when it comes to the Fields. I've come to the conclusion that it's an easy way to gain XP and a bit of loot, and nothing more. It will never give anyone the true RPG experience, which is why I think it's fair to allow it to go on. If people want to spend time getting XP rather than roleplay or participate in a story at any given time, then that's perfectly okay.
  25. That's not at all what I said or implied. Again, you're not being very constructive. "Stop giving out loot" is simply not an option, IMO. This is an RPG, loot is the defining reward system of this kind of game. Are there ways to prevent power creep? Yes, but not dropping loot altogether won't do anything to improve the situation. I'm with Scuba here, every QM should run loot through Sandy (or even possibly other QMs. As knowing you are, Sandy, you obviously can't know the right answer 100% of the time, as we see with things like the Pheles Rod). Anything that falls through the cracks can be discussed, as it is now.
