  1. Hybros waited for the enemies to approach, ready to make his move. "I just hope you can run, Monk, hehehe..." He begins to sprint straight towards the elves and gnomes and dodge between them, using his small and nimble form to his advantage, Pretzel in tow. He runs past the enemies of Junctions A and D, arriving at Junction I.
  2. OOC: I usually copy/paste the most recent order from you when I run the round Doc, but thanks for letting me know anyways. And sorry guys but I won't be able to run the round until tomorrow morning; was busy with work today.
  3. "Hm, alright. It may be in our best interest to destroy the device as soon as possible. I can move quickly, so I will go. The rest of you will stay in Junction A and hold off the enemies as I do so, hehe..." With that, Hybros runs to Junction A, leaving Pretzel no choice but to move along with him. Melvin also moves to Junction A.
  4. Hybros picks himself up and brushes the splinters off, taking in the view. He looks up at the mirrors on the ceiling to see three hordes of enemies. With barely enough time, he thinks quickly on situation... OOC: So just to be clear, the camera is on the left side of the map, and once we destroy it the enemies will stop spawning, yes? And the forge door is on the bottom left corner?
  5. I, too, think the change was a really good one and would like to see the effect carry over. I don't think Blessed would be a problem, because you'd need to drink multiple Somas. They're not common, and not cheap in the marketplace. At 45 gold apiece, I don't think anyone would would down 10 of them at a time. And even if they did, that's not as powerful as a healing spell or drinking a potion. The only other ways I can think of Blessed being activated is through: - Jeaux's handcannon and other weapons/artifacts, which could just give a base Blessed-by-X effect that can only be multiplied with Somas - The Chi Monk's SHIELD skill, which would either have to be adjusted or just give a one-time Blessed-by-3 effect. - The High Cleric's job trait, which could also be a base Blessed-by-3, or adjusted to have the Blessed effect increased for every original Cleric in the party.
  6. "Heh! How am I responsible? It is not my fault you had a magic chain in your cart... Yes do make yourself useful and stand in front. Killing those Shades will not be easy if they all attack at once..." Hybros chuckles, then coughs. "Ehehm, it would seem your so-called sense of 'purity and goodwill' has not imparted itself onto me through this link, Monk, heheh. Rather, a lack thereof, eheh." "Now, let us move on." Hybros makes a move for the door, but is yanked back by the chain. "Well, come on, those Shades are multiplying as we speak!"
  7. No. "Docken [...] roleplay", maybe, but I thought you intended on roleplaying with another character when that time came. And that originally Docken was meant to have a backstory. But if all that's changed...
  8. I, too, like the weather conditions in 102. Did anyone else realize the heroes are in the Realm of the Mad Dog? Also, I noticed while reading the rules page that Bleeding, Cursed, and Blessed do not have variable or stacking values like Poisoned does. I don't remember why this is, but shouldn't they mimic that rule as well? Oh, and is it out of the question to Command Posco to give Hybros all of his gold?
  9. OOC: Only things that I can see are that Em should be at full health (was healed by Pretzel awhile ago), and Eva needs to equip the Magic Viper Skin. Lolz for the video, by the way. "I did no such thing, hehehe." Hybros grins at Pretzel's madness. He tugged at the chain, lurching the monk a little. "Just do not get in my way when those Shades show up."

  11. It's too late. A flash of light shines between Pretzel and Hybros, and they both feel instantly more powerful. A shared power. Hybros looks down at the chain, which has wrapped itself around his arm. "What the..." He tries to tug at the chain but it won't budge. There is a strong magic binding the two heroes together. Finally understanding the artifact's power, he grins at Pretzel. "Well well, it looks like we will be working together now, closer than ever before, heheheh... Tell me Monk, how does it feel to be soul-bound to a... demon? Eheheh..."
  12. Correct, which is why Crab D got a Free Hit last round.

  14. OOC: Sorry, just sorting out a few things with the rules. Hybros looks up at the door, thinking of the best way to prepare. "Posco, I know you do not feel comfortable with Wally leading, but after all this perhaps he could use a drink, one of those Nostrums perhaps? Eheh..." he commands. He then takes off the Baron's Epaulets to stretch his shoulders. "Hm, let us see... I think Melvin could sing just as well even with that heavy mirror... Em, why do you not give it to him to carry? That way you could wear that medal of yours." Hybros notices Pretzel pull a shiny gold chain from his cart. The imp lightly grabs it without asking permission, and inspects it in his hands. "What is this?" he inquires. He then looks to Em and Melvin, waiting for them to swap items before getting ready to push forward.
  15. Do immunities count as effects? I'm asking for the purpose of the Soul Link Chain item in Pretzel's inventory - if, for example, he were to link with Hybros, would he be permanently Hastened and Cursed or would he also gain the effects of my artifacts (immunities to elements and effect, including the cursed effect). Also, because Minstrels are not affected by the Hastened effect, does that mean that the same applies to the Slowed effect?

  17. "For those of you who do not know, Em and I encountered another Shade along with several... animated Moon Elf corpses. I still do not know how they fit into all of this, but I suppose in due time..." "Fine... although, Posco, you have proven yourself proficient in combat... will you not help us? The safety of Zylstra is as much on your hands as ours... And Melvin, what are you doing down here? I thought you had a ship to attend to. Your skills as a Minstrel would also be useful, heheh."
  18. Or, you know, you could try a new area.
  19. I have to say that I disagree with most of your points, Flipz. Barbarian is a little boring on its own, but IMO Knight is the most boring of the Basic classes (although it has the coolest Advanced class options). I agree that daggers and longswords are overused and too common, both as drops and as class weapon proficiencies. Greatswords are around, used by Tesni, Cronk, Eric, and Nerwen, off the top of my head. Hammers are pretty rare, but I think Nerwen had one (along with a mace at some point which are also uncommon). Spears are pretty common, Nagure has one for starters. Halberds are rarer, but it's one of those weapon types that is a little vague. Axes are everywhere. Thormanil and Nagure used them for a long time, I have a pair of dual-striking ones that have been quite useful in the hands of Hunter Soryx. To address your point about classes that can use both ranged and melee weapons, yes it's common for people to choose ranged but not always. For non-ranged classes coming into ranged classes, it's pretty hard to come across a ranged weapon that's as powerful as your primary melee weapon that you used as a melee class (powerful ranged weapons are, rightfully, pretty rare to begin with). Hybros is a prime example - I've never bought a bow because the SOAH and Zoot's Reaper were plenty good (and the SOAH is better even from the back row than any ranged weapon I could get my hands on). And a lot of people who do go into classes that can use ranged weapons already have ranged weapons (see Benji, Skrall, Alexis, Docken...) I have and use a scythe (I chose it as my first weapon, and it's still Hybros' preference over longswords or daggers), as does Sorrow. Another thing about weapons is that there are 17 different types (18 counting instruments), and about 40 active people in this game at any given time. I imagine we'd see a much larger variety of weapon use and even class strategy if we had more people playing this game. Tesni, Eric and Nagure are some of the strongest characters in the game, all started out as Barbarians and have minmaxed pretty successfully. Haldor was a pretty awesome Shaman before he left, and Johon has been pretty effective and flexible between classes. We've yet to see a Barbarian Battle Mage, but gems aren't all that hard to come by these days. Hunter wouldn't be that hard of a class to fall into, either - Skrall, although a Ranger, has opted to use some melee weapons for the class that were more effective than his crossbow. This I disagree with the most. Chi Monk is equally compatible for Barbarians, Mages, and even Clerics, and Winged Warrior is sort of a Ranger-Barbarian hybrid. Those along with he others you mentioned make up for almost all of the Expert classes. And if we're going by just weapon compatibility, everyone has to rebuild when going Minstrel. One thing you should also keep in mind is that most people haven't even reached level 30 yet - or for those who have it's been recently. I seems like some Expert classes have gotten more attention than others in general discussions, I agree, but level 30 takes a very long time to get to and a lot can change about someone's class choices before they reach that point.
  20. "Oh, I almost forgot. Here, take these, eheh." Hybros hands a Crescent Shield to each Jeaux and Pretzel.
  21. "Well there is no point in waiting any longer. It is my understanding that we have to go down to this maze of mirrors and divert the path of the light from the painting device to the forge. I imagine we have to go down one of those trap doors... Wally, lead the way."
  22. Hybros rubbed his temple, and sighed. "Okay Wally. Who is the doctor? U'Reeka? And what was he trying to discover? The painting machine should still be down there in this mirror maze, yes?"
  23. QM Note: Yeah, I can't really run battles if only one party member posts... I'm sorry to say that I will have to discontinue this Fields run if the inactivity continues. You can come back again when you've got the time to participate more regularly if that turns out to be the case. But if we can all stay active, I'm happy to keep this going.
  24. Hm, that also brings up a point about WW that I've been thinking about for a while... I'm considering changing the SHIELD skill so that it does not use up Fly counters, because it does take two successful rolls; each with a 1/2 chance of being successful, so, there's only a 1/4 chance of the Fly ability actually being of use, and even less so if someone tried to Fly more than once for the stacking. The marking skill you've outlined is interesting, but not really necessary IMO. It sounds like a lot of them could be made into items instead. If we're talking about a pure tank class, though, the Sacrificial Mark sounds like a cool skill. When the Veteran classes were first revealed I suggested a defend ability for the Guardian Knight, but it was rejected. I still think it'd be appropriate for that class, but another class it could be used. Instead of attacking, the hero could choose to defend a single or multiple allies, or maybe against a single enemy. Also, weren't there some classes (three or so) of yours that had been approved, WBD? Swashbuckler, some circus-based class, and something else? As the one who invented the class, I can say that they're intended to be able to use swift, distance weapons, effective for swooping down and making quick attacks. Handcannons would just be too slow and heavy, logically. I would also make them able to use lances and halberds but those are also heavy, and you can't really allow too many weapon types for a single class. I guess the class can be up for debate. It was a long time ago that I made it and it hasn't ever been tested out. I'd be willing to consider changes, as long as Sandy and the others would agree.
