Really nice first quest, Flipz, and well done to all the players as well! A few thoughts: - I thought battles and perhaps the plot overall was a tad too complicated for Level 1's at first, but they took the challenge in stride and did a great job. I loved the involvement of the Dragonlord, Shadeux, Wolfgang, Dastanese and Rito... even the faries (and the Fey One) and dark druids of the Lost Forest were included. Somehow, the inclusion of all those characters and plotlines never felt too contrived. Everything fit well, and that brings me to my next point. - I (and surely Doc and Zeph as well) really wanted to see Dastan again. I felt that I filled a good niche with the dragon-centered quest that was 59, and there have been NPCs from Dastan in other quests, but this was the first true return to the post-war scene of Dastan. The politics between the emperors and their people, the characters themselves, the return of the dragons... all of the points we really wanted to illustrate at the conclusion of the Dastan trilogy were reinforced tenfold here. Thanks for contacting me and taking my suggestions into account. I really think this quest as a whole added to the richness of Dastan, and so much more. I've fallen behind on reading 111, but it looks like Khorne is doing the same. - I liked the interactions between PCs and NPCs. The choices that they could make really added to the realism of differences in opinions and personalities. It's very difficult to adjust a quest to accommodate those who don't follow the plotline, but with enough planning it can be pulled off. I just caution Flipz and the players, however, that it won't always be that way and sometimes compromises have to be made in order to keep the quest on track. Just something to keep in mind. So, overall the quest was a great read and a fantastic job done by all. Flipz, is that Cathedral quest still in the works? Because I would be very interested in going on it. Especially now that you've proven that you're not all talk about QMing. (Meaning you had a lot to say about good QMing but never hosted a quest until now).

Same here - weekends are unpredictable and irregular - I'll often not have time to respond but I'll do my best to keep it reasonable. I am loving the side quests by the way, to respond to your comment earlier about them.

Red Menace Mafia: Day One - Ice Station Zebra
JimBee replied to jimmynick's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well, one more vote and I'm finished. Seems like you all should look to who's deceiving you, and who's in the crowd. When I come up as town tomorrow, scrutinize Edward, Spencer, and Christopher. Trevor is still suspicious, but if you have too easy of a lynch tomorrow you'll know something's wrong. The scum will try to use my death and result of town against you - any suspicions that I've thrown around today that are wrong will be brought up again tomorrow. Be weary of everyone, no one is trustworthy unless you have compelling evidence to believe otherwise. -

I'm not the one twisting words, Spencer. Or "playing" as you call it. I'm well aware of the risk taken to make a claim on Day One, and I've explained my reasoning already. It's a hell of a lot more than what you've offered, and your vote to Claire could be seen as just as useless because she only had one other vote on her, and for what, being silent? If Claire has actually been following along, don't you think she would have spoken up by now? Being silent does not equal scum by any means, and if she hasn't spoken today then she'll be killed by the captain anyway. Talk about throwing away votes. In addition, if you think a Day One claim is a big risk to take for scum, how about my fervent accusations on said claimer? I could have easily sat back and let someone like Claire get lynched instead, avoiding all suspicion whatsoever. Instead, I chose to voice my own suspicions and now I'm getting attacked for it? More "flawed logic", quite hypocritical today aren't we, Spencer? And again, you've narrowed down our choices for us - manipulative indeed. You've been saying all day that we need lynch one of these people - perhaps there's something you know that we don't. And you've joined the bandwagon. If I'm lynched and tomorrow I turn up town, who's next? Surely you'll try to narrow the choices down for us, just as long as they're not your scum buddies, right? -

I understand things fine, thanks though. I think you're exaggerating where votes need to be placed - plenty of people haven't even voted yet, so voicing his suspicion and placing a vote is hardly misleading the town. It is misleading, however, to say that we have only three options today. I'm not saying that an investigator is going to investigate Trevor after his claim, I'm saying either Trevor doesn't want to be investigated or if he is, will present his early claim as irrefutable evidence that he is town. It already seems that some, like Edward, believe this. In addition, apparently Trevor is well-known around these parts and it is a popular opinion that he's a good candidate for an early investigation. If this is true, a miller claim might protect him. Does that answer your question? These points, along with the fact that he's been silent since, lead me to believe his lynch will clear up everything about his claim and give a lot of insight to those who have defended and attacked him. But I guess none of you are for that. ...Meanwhile I guess this argument is stronger than mine? "COULD be a scum trick", "Doesn't seem scummy but will vote for Jerry anyway"... Overall a lot of "could be's" and speculation that, to me, seems flimsier than my "could be's" but I guess it's possible that I've been out of the loop of submarining too long to realize that things have changed drastically. And Monty has changed his vote again. Surprise, surprise, a little suspicion on his indecisiveness and he follows the crowd, after seeming to not want a lynch at all. But hey, I guess he knows I'm town and will probably bet on being safe in the crowd who voted for me. Better me than him, right? Unvote: Trevor (TrumpetKing) Vote: Monty (mostlytechnic) I guess you're right about needing to focus our votes, Spencer, so if no one really thinks Trevor is suspicious like I do, then I guess it's the next best thing. For the record, Edward still seems suspicious to me as well, for defending Trevor and thinking he's more likely to be town because of the claim, but so does Monty for his indecisiveness and reasons listed above. -

Well that's kind of a flawed argument... Everyone should express their suspicions regardless of a possible lynch or not. Maybe not in the form of a permanent vote or a push for the lynch of said suspicious person, but suspicion nonetheless. You narrowing the "options" down to three people is both unhelpful and scummy. -

Why? Just because he's not voting with you? If Claire is completely silent, won't the captain take matters into his own hands? I seem to remember that he doesn't like quiet people like that. I see a few potential candidates for a lynch today, but Trevor still hasn't said anything. Yes, still. None of you find that that a tad suspicious? Is he consorting with his spy buddies, too scared to speak up, or just sitting back and letting other accusations fly? -

How are the odds in any way tipped in his favor? He could just as easily be lying as telling the truth. The fact that you think any differently is scummy. You've been defending Trevor since he made the claim. Why would I try to create confusion on Day 1? If I were a spy, I could easily sit back and watch someone who's not even saying anything get lynched. I'd also like to indicate that Trevor still has not spoken since his claim. My vote stands, and I'd like to hear from Trevor, but Edward strikes me as suspicious. -

JimBee replied to jimmynick's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Maybe. But the same goes for a scum claim - either way, Trevor seemed like he thought he was going to be investigated - better to claim now before he is found to be scum. If you don't find me scummy, then why vote for me? You can voice suspicions without convicting someone, though I understand if you were trying to make a statement with your vote. Good to know that you're paying attention, but "especially" is a pretty common word in the English language... besides that, if Spencer and I were coordinating our actions I don't think that would coincide with our phrasing. -

So... actually providing substance for today is suspicious? Throwing myself out there and being the only one in the crowd to oppose Trevor's claim is scummy? Strange. -

Not that people should be investigated based on their experience on other subs, but doesn't that just reinforce my suspicions of him? If he knew he was likely to be investigated early, a preemptive miller claim would be a good move for a spy. -

Why would Trevor be more likely to be investigated sooner? Am I missing something that made him suspicious before his claim? -

Well excuse me. Maybe it has been a while since I've experienced a crisis like this, but to me claiming miller on day one is pretty fishy. Saying "hey btw even though I'll come up as scum and may act scummy, I'm not scum. Carry on." and then not saying anything since... Does this not ping any radars for anyone? I guess not. Strange how people are rushing to his defense and accepting his claim without so much as an ounce of doubt. Especially Malcolm. No I don't think you're stupid, but worse has happened to smarter people in crises similar to this. And since you've come under fire with a vote from Spencer and suspicion from others, you seem eager to shift the attention to someone else - me, Claire, Phillip... -

How does that not add up? He's claiming to come up as Spy if investigated - so there's no way to tell if he really is or not and he'll use the fact that he mentioned it early as a defense. -
Red Menace Mafia: Day One - Ice Station Zebra
JimBee replied to jimmynick's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well that's probably just what he's thinking. He's aware that there's an investigator out there - if he is scum or a spy, he knows he'll draw the first investigation to himself and use the claim thereafter. If he is scum that's an easy way to start an infiltrated town block. I don't like the fact that he's claiming to be undoubtedly town before anyone can do or say anything. -
I loved 109, well done to Em as a first-time QM and WBD for the wonderful sets. I really like the surreal nature of the dream world, and the real-life kingdom was also cool. It's nice to see the Low Kingdoms get some attention, and I think you did a great job representing it as one of many "lesser" kingdoms that specialize in trade (at least that's the impression I get from the wiki description).

What's all this nonsense about games? We're in a crisis at the bottom of the ocean, no time for games. I for one find it highly suspicious that anyone would mention playing "other games". -

While I agree with Spencer about Malcolm's fluffy words, I think a miller claim is pretty suspicious. Even more suspicious is the fact that quite a few people seem to accept it right away. Seems scummy to me, and it's possible that Trevor was counting on the population to consider his early claim too audacious to be scummy. That or his scum buddies are spreading his deceit. Or a little bit of both. Either way, I'd like to remove all doubt. Vote: Trevor (TrumptKing) -

"There are plenty of people who threaten innocent lives, whether we choose to deal with them or not." Hybros shrugs, and turns to Daneeka. "I am ready as I will ever be." He slipped on his Sterile Gloves in place of his Pauldrons and looks to the rest of the party. "We have done well so far, but now I believe is when the real journey begins."

Hybros' eye widened at Posco's supposed suicide. He caught the gold and absent-mindedly pocketed it without saying a word. "Expected of us? This was Posco's decision. He did the right thing, for the greater good. It seems you have much to understand about saving lives, Warden." Hybros looked to the Baron, then Daneeka. "Let us dig."

Well then you better hope he's not as utilitarian as Hybros is.
