  1. This is sort of unrelated to the game, but I've also wondered why Heroica and other RPGs/fantasy works have called the source from which magical power is derived "ether" (others call it "mana"). A quick search got me this: - Ether (besides being one of the fundamental organic compunds that we all learned in high school chemistry) was first thought to be the element of outer space or the sky, both as a classical element and a part of Greek mythology. - It was also thought to be a "fifth element" in ancient times, in addition to the classic earth, wind, water, and fire elements. - In 19th century physics: the substance through which light propagates. - "Ethernet" comes from the medium of propagation of electromagnetic waves. Basically, from these uses ether is an omnipresent force, and in fantasy works, is the medium through which magic can propagate. Just thought that was interesting, and others who were interested in the lore of this game and others who also might have found it interesting.
  2. OOC: Hybros is immune to Lightning/Electric damage so I shouldn't have taken the extra 15 damage. He still is vulnerable to the stunned-effect, though. Hybros quickly recovers from the Guardian Angel's hit and the machine's malfunction, and repeats his attack. Same BO.
  3. OOC: I'm pretty sure Nyx cast a spell so her damage should not have been halved. Skrall has a WP bonus of 2 as well as the darkness element imbued in his crossbow so the damage dealt should have been (14*3) + 36 x2 =156 dmg. Also, not that it matters for this round, but you also forgot my power bonus of 6. EDIT: You also forgot to equip the engine in place of Hybros' Sterile Gloves, so I think an additional 15 lightning dmg should've been dealt on top of that. Hybros grins. He was glad to see that he could still make quick work of enemies without his sharpened blade and honed assassin skills. He repeats his attack on Guardian Angel B. Battle Order: >Deborah Hybros Hybros >Nyx >Skrall Ellaria
  4. Point taken. It's saulgoodman. Articulation is rad!
  5. The QM made me PL "Ah, I almost forgot you can hit as hard as you can cast spells, heheh."
  6. Zepher twists the "teenage male human Rogue" archetype to his advantage! It's super effective! Although you'll have to explain inventions like "sunglasses" "mohawk" "pilot's jacket" and "dope" to the denizens of our medieval fantasy world.
  7. "Nyx, your Standard looks like it would be a little more effective at getting past the Paladin's defenses."
  8. OOC: No problem Zeph. Do I control Deborah's actions? "Quick work indeed, hehe... Deborah, perhaps you would like to take on the Oldest Angel?" Hybros remembers his training and prepares a fistful of darkness and charges at Guardian Angel A from the front row, twice. "Twist and bend..." Battle Order: Deborah Hybros Hybros Skrall Nyx Ellaria
  9. "Okay, we decide to not listen to you and move on with our mission. We were well aware of the consequences when we signed up for this quest. Goodbye." Hybros turns to leave.
  10. Hybros stood silently, hardly interested in what the man had to say.
  11. "I think I can handle it. I will try not to drop it, heheh..." Hybros inspects the engine some more. "That reminds me, I quested with a... erm, machine recently. A hero, an auto... auto... a hero that is made of wood and metal. You may not be wrong, Skrall, but Jeaux is a good fighter, and smart, too." He thinks back to how the automaton solved the light and mirror puzzle in the depths of the Moon Elf city. He turned to the Tritech scientists. "You would not happen to know of such a machine, would you?" Hybros smirks at Ellaria.
  12. Boo! Fleshe=Moon Elf!
  13. It's not your fault, but I was pretty shocked to see a moon elf knight. Oh well, I'll have to be more creative now.
  14. There goes my idea for a second character...
  15. "Hm..." Hybros held his hands out to receive the engine. He turned the device in his hands. "How can something so small power something so big?" He pondered. "Or at least... I think the drill is big. I will carry the engine. I have delivered things like this before, and Anwyl the blacksmith once told me that gold..." he tapped his armor, which made a hollow clunking sound, "...does not conduct lightning, eheh." Hybros swaps his Sterlile Gloves for the rubber pair and holds the engine carefully. "Ehehm, unless someone does not agree...?" He places the engine down to drink his tea. "Ellaria, maybe you would like to wear that Spirit Robe of yours?"
  16. "Hm yes, I suppose so." Hybros keeps his guard up, but feels a little more at ease. He tips his hat and bows to Dr. Don. "It is good to see you again, eheh. Tea is fine thank you. How is Doctor Telsa?" Hybros looked around. "And what can you tell me about this engine, and the machine that it is used for?"
  17. Quest 108: no XP for solving puzzles? It'd be neat if they started granting experience. I know it's been done rarely in the past, but shouldn't it be done more often?
  18. Agreed. Must... get... second character.
  19. "Well then for their sake let us hope that there will be no need for that, hehehe... I trust Daneeka with my life because I have already done so twice. If he trusts Hewyrt... that is enough for me at he moment." Hybros leans in. "But we will need that fireball ready just in case, heh."
  20. Clearly you've never played Red/Blue or Gold/Silver. IIRC you could get permanently stuck in one of those ice puzzles, and if you didn't save beforehand your file would be ruined.
  21. Speaking of, couldn't we expand the Dastan map? Now that we have a map for the Babeleth Darklands and know a lot more about the Fang Coast Kingdoms we could probably fill that entire map with stuff. I'd be happy to do it as long as I had the fonts/designs and knew how to. Agreed. Took me a while to solve but all those years of Pokemon ice-sliding puzzles really paid off.
  22. I wrote that part for the wiki page. To the northeast is the Ancient Home of the Dragons, which is a very mountainous region. I'd say that area includes what you see on the map and the two easternmost "horns" to the north. Farrech sits right below the other, western horns. That's the extent of the Empire's reach, and any area north of that could technically be considered Dastan but it's not really possible to enforce. You could definitely write a quest about it if you wanted. I'm not sure exactly how Canada works politically, but I'm sure the northern parts of the Navanut and Yukon territories all the way up in the Arctic Circle aren't governed too well. Same with Russia, I'd imagine. A simpler answer to all this would be: Brickdoctor didn't draw in those parts of the map when we made it, so it was forgotten. EDIT: Also, I'd say the map of Olegaia is pretty out of date/inaccurate (or just too general to be accurate). For example it's been established that Fenario is underground, below Spelasia but the map seems to indicate it's an area of its own. I always found that confusing, anyway.
  23. "Well he could have fooled me... how does he like heroes if he can not even trust them?" "Heheh, yes. I have seen more adventure since joining than I have ever before in my life. And I have been many places."
  24. Ah, very clever on Zepher's part then. I did go back and read that part, but I had thought that Red Assassins had to carry out their contract without being detected. Thanks for the clarification.
  25. We'll see what happens in this fight in 102, but I'm a little confused about the Red Death - Avery should have died in 72 since she didn't kill Nyx or Hybros, right?
