  1. "Heh! I will keep the gold. At least I was able to make some of it back. What was this game of skill that you spoke of?"
  2. "Hm, my luck has to turn around sometime soon." Hybros wagers 30 more gold.
  3. "What do they say? Punch me! But, ehem, not actually please." Hybros tosses another 40 gold into the pot.
  4. "Sounds simple enough, heheh. I will wager 20 gold."
  5. Hybros looks out over the landscape as the airship flies away from Eubric Freeport, seeing if he can pick out landmarks he knows. After awhile all he can see are clouds and sea. He decides to join Lady Felix and Guffington in the cabin. He sits next to them, and his drink of choice is Mead mixed with Nostrum swirled into a creamy orange cocktail. "What are we playing?"
  6. I didn't mean to call you out, MDM, I just wanted to make sure that it was the actual rule. Although it's been brought up before and the rules page hasn't been changed, so there shouldn't be confusion about it anymore.
  7. How was Hoke able to start a second character? You need fifteen completed quests.
  8. "Then maybe someone or something is helping him. In any case, we need to get moving. The forest sounds like a good place to start. Skrall, what's it going to be?"
  9. Jinnipher ignored the glare and seemed to calm down after looking thoughtfully into the sky. "Right. It did the same for me. I also fought Vorpalis in the fog. I should have died back there, but I didn't. And when we saw him in the flesh, he didn't recognize me. It seems like he doesn't have any control over the hallucinations, and that the fog is a weapon of fear and probably his main source of power. Moon Elves are pacifists, but that doesn't mean they left their entire kingdom open to an attack. The fog disabled everyone and made it easy for Vorpalis to kill or brainwash them. And that means... that he's not as powerful as he seems. The fog is an act to make himself seem more fearsome, when in reality he is hiding behind it. Maybe there's something else at play here, but I think with this machine we can take him. We take away his power and all that's left is a lizard with a bone to pick." "Sputnik, do you have any idea of how the fog is created or spread? I have never heard of a dragon having such power. Sandman?"
  10. "Do not dare to compare me to him. I've had enough of this idiocy. If he wants to so nobly act as 'cannon-fodder' as he puts it, fine. The most useful thing he will have done this quest is sate the dragon's hunger and shut up for good." "And if you're done putting yourself up on a pedestal and ignoring what is actually a threat to the party, then I too would like to know what you saw in the fog. I have a theory on what it does and how Vorpalis has been holding control of an entire kingdom."
  11. "I see... thank you, Arthur. I am not sure if allying with Nagashan was the right choice, but Lady Shanxian is wise and I trust her judgement. Her people deserve to be treated fairly, and anyone who thought that Jun would be involved with those bandits is blind. I fought alongside him against that very group in their own pagoda. We killed most of them, but in the end they overwhelmed us. We... we failed, and they captured Jun. He helps govern his family house and the Tritech in Eubric now, after he was rescued." "I suppose we will see the state of Xu when we visit, eheh..."
  12. Jinnipher shrugged. "At least I learned something in that fog. Karie should have too, if she was paying attention." She looked sideways at the Witch. "And maybe I could have saved him! But by the time I got there, Marlow was splattered all over the walls. Your best was talking circles around a dragon." "I appreciate the support," Jinnipher replied sarcastically. "But I don't squabble. I'm here to do the job I was hired for, and this brat's insolence is holding all of us back. It's in our best interest to cut him out and move forward without risking him screwing things up again." "It's great that you're reminding all of us what you've failed to do so far. Having one more person than four isn't going to help, especially if it's you." "I'm going to find this dragon and kill it. Now that we have the steam machine, I suggest anyone more intelligent than a drugged-up cultist with a big mouth come with me." Jinnipher crossed her arms, looking at Warlen, Skrall, and Sandman expectantly.
  13. "Hm, yes, Legonardo is quite the inventor, heheh. I have of course heard of Lady Shanxian's new rule there. Perhaps on the way you could tell me the details of what happened there during your quest..."
  14. "So that's what happened..." She gave a furious look to Lind, but didn't address him directly. Instead, she turned to the rest of the party. "He's done. Heroica may have lowered its standards to increase recruitment after the Nephilim incident, but I'd rather fight demons and traitors than deal with such incompetence. He's already jeopardized the mission enough, and his big mouth got someone killed. I vote we leave him here until our mission is done. I'm not going to be held back by this unprofessional twerp."
  15. You're doing great! At the very least it gave me the chance to reveal a bit more of Jinnipher's barbaric side. I was considering roleplaying her not being able to solve the puzzle because of her lack of patience, especially for something finicky like that.
  16. Jinnipher wasn't smug, but raised an eyebrow at the machine's unreliability. "...You were saying?" "Anyway, now that that's taken care of, we should get moving. There's not much we can do for the people here. At least they're safe from the fog." She turned to Lucy. "We're also looking for two of the King's advisors, Marlow and Merlay. Have you ever heard of them, or do you know where we can find them?"
  17. OOC: I'm not sure I understand. You want us to tell you what primary colors are supposed to line the eight black tiles on the left and eight on the top, right? You might've made a mistake by posting the solution... Jinnipher inspected the device, as if she knew anything about such technology. "Looks fine to me, kiddo. Maybe it just needs a kickstart." She gave a good kick to the contraption with the bottom of her boot.
  18. "I knew we were limited, but you're saying the worm killed more of them? I haven't seen a single familiar face since we got here... damn..." Jinnipher looked around at the machinery cautiously before entering. She tiptoed around the floor to face the scientist. "You must be Sputnik. Listen, King Faust has given us orders to find you and to stop this dragon. Your machine seems to dissipate the fog, and we'll probably need that to stop him. So, can you help us or not?"
  19. Hybros gives a wave to Daneeka, but doesn't have time for much else. He also gives a parting nod to the other heroes. "Take care." "Captain Elba, it is good to see you. I think we are ready." He gave the ship a once-over. "An airship, hm? I rode one on my last visit to Xu, as well. Although it does not compare to riding dragons, it is a welcome change from the regular ships on the sea, heheh. So long as it does not rock around too much."
  20. Jinnipher crossed her arms. "That's great that you've been lucky with the dragon and all, I just wish I could see more of my own kind in ther own continent." She looked at the ground. "Unless they were all killed..." "We don't have time to sightsee, but let's see if we can't find that scientist."
  21. Hybros held the Noble Mask in his hands, recalling the pagoda in Xu where he got it and later gave to Tarn. He had almost forgotten his failure there, and the 108 Stars of Destiny that had overpowered him and his allies. He wasn't sure what it would be like going back, but if he ran into that group of bandits again he would make sure the tables were turned. "Very well then. Should we go inside to tell Guffington of our plan?" Hybros heads for the grand doors of the manor. OOC: Forgot to bold this earlier, but Hybros handed off his COTRA and Bladerang to Dyric. Also, I'm going camping this weekend so I probably won't be able to post until Sunday afternoon (starting this evening). Flipz can control Hybros' actions until then.
  22. Jinnipher had had enough. She turned around quickly as if she was about to slap Lind across the face, but somehow resisted. Surprisingly, she didn't shout the words after. "Do NOT lecture to me as if you are superior to me. You are a child who thinks he knows everything because some cultists in the woods wrote a book about nonsense. This might be news to you, but you and your kind are absolutely insane. You know nothing outside of the scripts you read in your little forest, and you lack in any real knowledge from experience. And in your short, useless life you have belligerently refused to gain anything from your experiences other than apply the nonsense of your cult religion to them. In place of your conscience is a void that selectively filters out truth and sucks in twisted versions of it. You have no business being a 'hero' or any other kind of mercenary, period. I will make sure the King knows of your incompetence after that dragon is killed, if you are not killed first." She removed all of Lind's lent equipment and shoved them back into his arms. "I can't even stand to touch anything tainted by your sheer ineptitude, let alone wear it."
  23. "Yeah, and he'll have killed all the people on that island by then. I know you're the farthest possible thing from a professional, but try to take saving what's left of the continent seriously. Why didn't Vorpalis kill you when he had the chance? You must have annoyed him into submission."
  24. "As soon as you stop calling me 'Princess Jenny' then maybe I'll try to bother to remember what you call yourself. Maybe." Jinnipher looked around some more, then sighed. "Look fella, it's great that you saved us from that dragon and all, not that I needed saving, but can we get to the point of all this? If you don't know how to kill it, then you should let us get back to Moone and do our jobs."
  25. Hybros elbowed Guts in the thigh, hard. "We want to leave this manor still in one piece, do we not?" He forced through gritted teeth. Hybros shook his head, but smiled. "That sounds like Noble Tarn to me. Stealing a princess away and leaving behind his duties, heheheh."
