  1. Jinnipher nodded. "Monk." She watched Lind leave without further input, and sighed. "Well, maybe this new quest will shed some light on who really has their head screwed on right among the houses. I've met this dragon - he acts all high and mighty but we killed his offspring easily enough. I'm going to prove that a lizard can't write history for the rest of us." Jinnipher signed up for Quest #147.
  2. Is there a known use for that book already?
  3. "Hmm... that is acceptable." Hybros accepted the gold in exchange for the Crystal Ball. "Ehem, say if I were to buy your book from you... what are the chances that you would be able to find a Coat Hanger? Or perhaps some Crystal Shoes? Heheh..."
  4. "Look, I've lived long enough to hear it all before. We need a new order and people will cooperate and all that jazz. The thing is, you're not going to make everyone happy. Ask Faust, the crown lies heavy upon the head. It's going to come down to people not cooperating unless you make them. There has to be law and order. People may not like the Bonapartes, but they've kept everyone in this city safe from pirates or worse." "So go ahead kid, debate in conclaves. I've heard it all one too many times, and I know where I stand." "Mind your own business Terry."
  5. "Good." Jinnipher sipped her drink. "Speech for what?" She paused, then laughed loudly. "Don't tell me you're running for king? If you really think--" she stopped suddenly. "Well, good luck kiddo." She smirked.
  6. I never thanked you for 143 Endgame, so now I am. I enjoyed the short and simple quest. As others have said the implications still felt large enough to warrant the quest in the first place, especially with Gabriel's decision. It was an important factor for his and Jinnipher's relationship too, even though that might not have shown in the dialogue. I must admit that I was not as focused on the quest as I should have been; the end of the year and semester were especially busy for me so delays or half-assed posting were something I wish I had had time to avoid. Sorry. I don't have any idea when you're planning on hosting your finale quest, but if timing allows I would surely like to participate in it.
  7. The Hall doors slammed open to let a cold draft in as a slender figure strode in. The noise disrupted an otherwise silent tavern. Anyone still asleep would have surely been woken up by the second sound of the doors slamming shut. Jinnipher made her way to the bar where she immediately began to enjoy a hot brandy cider. It wasn't her regular drink of choice, but the cold and dreary weather warranted something to warm the stomach and spirit.
  8. Jinnipher made her way from a certain sniper's apartment to Anwyl's Smithy. She plunked down 50 gold to have her opal imbued into The Beheader.
  9. It's kind of hard to justify a response that is both logical from the PC's point of view and able to advance the plot/dialogue when they have literally no idea of what is going on. I as a player can see where Zepher is going with the time-space mechanics (thanks modern media) but Hybros and I'm sure the others don't even know where to begin except to just take everything with a grain of salt and believe. There's not much room for disbelief unless we want to stall the quest for a month in the process of playing our PCs trying to wrap their heads around it. To clarify, that's not a criticism, I'm just commenting on the predicament.
  10. Hybros watches the demons zoom by as they travel through the void. The feeling wasn't all unfamiliar, but he still felt sick to his stomach once they arrived at the City Center. "Eh... Sure," is all he can manage to say to Melquiadas before he departs. Hybros collects himself and joins the others to meet the merchant. "I have been waiting for a place to sell this..." He reveals his Crystal Ball, extra shiny from the polishing he did as an Alchemist. "I imagine a wizard merchant like you would pay a good price for something like this?"
  11. Hybros frowned. "Is nothing on this island real, then?" "I see... well in that case, I suppose the others have not made it here yet. Melquiadas, City Center."
  12. Hybros shook his head and stopped trying to understand how time and space worked here. "Well, where are they?" He turned to Guffington. "And when do you wish us to give these artifacts?"
  13. Hybros gazes at the beam of light with curiosity as they approach. "Hello, I am Hybros, and we are heroes from Heroica. I do not suppose you have had others like us arrive recently?"
  14. "Well it looks like those Tritech goons are the most responsible for new technology. It doesn't look like they'll take well to someone trying to limit them." "And, regardless, I can make my own choices about who is right and who is wrong. Maybe a new dynasty is what this city needs."
  15. "Then there would be no point in this quest to begin with. I already said I will do what Guffington wishes." "Beyond? Chauncey mentioned that the island distorts time and space... not that it has not happened to me before, heheh." Turning to the other heroes, "I suppose Elba is right. It will be good to think these things over, anyway." Hybros stepped to the railing and looked out over the sea of clouds, dyed deep purple with tinges of orange from the setting sun beneath. He had gotten used to travelling by air. It was a lot less sickening than the rocking sea vessels, and offered a better view. He sighed and returned to the deck where he rolled out his bedroll, standing for moment in case anyone had more to say.
  16. "Natural or not, perhaps Passion's death was meant to be. It seems more natural to me than resurrecting him, at least. But, I trust Guffington. If this is the cause he wishes to tribute himself to, then I will help make that happen." "He will be a different person, but my guess is that you are looking at him now." Hybros nodded towards Gerald. He addressed him next. "It will be strange, seeing you walk this earth even though you will be gone... You will be a ghost to this world." He looked at his feet solemnly.
  17. Jinnipher signs up for #146.
  18. Hybros listens carefully. After a while, he nods. "Well I am glad someone has finally explained these Old Gods to me. But I am not so sure of what else you have said. What things have gone amiss since the Gray Wizard's death? The world seems just as much in peril as it has always been. There were troubles in Dastan, but I think that is an improvement over the war they had to get there. And what is the nature of the power these beings have gathered? What makes them so powerful to determine the world's fate? I have made my own path, with some help. No being, god or not, has determined that for me." He cast a sideways glance at Hoke. "And Hoke believes these Gods to be dangerous. Who are you to say they are not? And the witches... I believe I met one, down below Eubric. It... showed me and the others a vision that answered many questions about my people. How do you know they are bad?" "As for the others who would try to keep knowledge of all six of these beings a secret, I would have to guess the Order Imperial. They have meddled in these kinds of things before, after all." The imp rocked back and forth on his feet and twitched his wings, obviously uneasy at all of the new information.
  19. "Well, Happy Birthday I guess." She waved to Masson. She thought for a moment. "You know, since you made the right decision today, yes." She hooked her arm under his. "Scheherezade told me about this. You must be with those Ji Pei. Weren't you saying earlier that technology had to be carefully regulated? It doesn't seem like those scientists have civil security as the first things on their minds."
  20. "We would not disturb your meditation for such a trivial thing, heheh... Although we would to ask you about Etheria and what awaits us there. I know it has something to do with the Dragon's Heart Flame and the First Breath, and the other artifacts that Guts and the others have hopefully found." Hybros held out the Heart Flame with gloved hands and felt the First Breath well up within him. "I know Guffington too well to think that these were mere welcome gifts..."
  21. Jinnipher looked Masson up and down. "Brothers, huh? I never would have guessed. Karie, yes she can run her mouth sometimes, but there are definitely worse around." She looked pointedly at Lind. "You were left-handed, that must have been useful in combat if you were any good with the sword."
  22. I'm torn about posting in a faction topic before 139 ends. I know it won't let out in time for the voting deadline, but the decision on who to vote for largely depends on what happens in the quest. I am also getting exciting to see how this all turns out in 139. It's been a long road but I feel like we're finally nearing a climax. Of course I will save my thoughts for after but I have really enjoyed seeing NPCs and plot lines continue from your other quests, Zepher.
  23. Inside information about your inventory? I didn't realize it was a secret.
  24. Thinking of the holidays, Hybros sends out a wishlist to Father Grogmas for the many friends he had met in Heroica. To Ellaria: Cherokee Rose (Doubles potency of both incoming and outgoing restorative consumables and healing, accessory, suitable for Ellaria) - in the hopes that she finds her child one day. To Boomingham: Crown of a Thousand Kings (Grants Paragon job traits, headwear, suitable for Boomingham) - to guide his past and future as a king of men. To Em: Eye of the Beholder (allows one round of combat to be rerolled per quest) - to give him some of the vision he might have lost with his own eye. To Thalion: Boots of Elvenkind (User is Nimble; footwear, suitable to elves) - I could not say why, on this summer evening, that I know something about you. To Purpearl: Cloak of Elvenkind (User is invisible for the first three rounds of combat, avoiding free hits; backwear, suitable to elves) - A cloaking robe of elvenkind. Arthur: Dressage Saddle (After a Dragon's Wrath, the user becomes Encouraged, Accessory, suitable for Dragoons) - a gift for both you and your dragon. Nyx: Endless Flaming Gumball (Accessory, Whole party gains Camaraderie, suitable to anyone) - for good friendship Hoke: Shield of the Guardian Knight (SP:10, +3 SP all other party members when equipped) - to help those in need Guts: Spiked Gauntlets (WP:5, add Bleeding-10 effect to successful attacks, handwear) - for when your words fail you. Eric: Bastard Sword (WP:10, Zwiehandler Grip can be used with a shield but with halved SP; greatsword, suitable to Vindicators) - for busy hands. Dyric: Cloak of the Red Assassin (Assassination chance is 1/3; backwear, suitable to Assassins) - so you do not have to keep borrowing mine. You have earned it.
  25. Jinnipher dejectedly sheathed the blade. "Tch, some blacksmith you are. It's the complete opposite end of the sword!"
