"You really think, after the shit you pulled in Moone, that Gabriel is going to pick you over me? Dream on, kid."
-
"Water doesn't possess people to kill each other and cause mayhem." "Too late." Jinnipher flipped her hair back arrogantly. "What kind of present would it be if Gabriel meant to retrieve it on his birthday? Obviously he's going to get it beforehand. Not that I have a problem with Karie not coming along if she has a problem with her brother-in-law."
-
Jinnipher crosses her arms and inspects Calamity head to toe. "Moon Elf, one of the few left. You caused quite the stir in here earlier, I hope you're not really trying to summon demons. I hate to say it, but the kid has a point. The last time heroes thought that was a wise idea... well, let's just say it didn't end up well for them. That being said, I doubt you could muster up anything worth fighting." She bit her lip for a moment, then added, "You don't look so old yourself, for a human. Hope you're not afraid of barely-pubescent boys trying to tie a noose round your neck. Feel free to slap this one." She gestured towards Lind.

"I see... I knew it was not going to be simple. I think you are right, Arthur. The answers are not coming easily, and we do not have much time." He paused for a minute, staring into his tea. "Guffington is dying. You probably figured that out already, but the reason we are on this quest is to fulfill his last wishes. He is a great man. Someone such as him must leave a legacy behind, so whatever artifacts we are gathering and for whatever scheme, there is something big. I am as much in the dark as you are, but I trust Guffington to do what is right. As you said there is a larger game here, but we are the pieces... I have lost much sleep on this journey thinking about how we are affecting things. Back in Dastan we altered the fate of a whole empire. Dragons, the Golden Crusade, these Old Gods that you speak of... they must all be pieces too, or maybe even the players." Hybros finally looked up. He glanced at Kiga nervously, then back into Arthur's eyes. "What else can we do but our job? Guffington will not tell us until he is ready. I think that will be on his deathbed. Until then, I trust him to do good for this world, and I am his loyal servant."

Jinnipher watched the girl with hawkish eyes. The Moon Elf seems unfazed by the revelation, but took note of Karie's demeanor. "So what then? You're not going to help family? Do you have something on the Sandman?"

"Maybe you're reading into it too much." She says shortly and furrows her brow as she takes another sip.
-
Hybros nods to Arthur and Miirym before entering the teahouse and sitting down. "Find anything new?" He looked Kiga in the eyes.

"Shame on you for being an idiot. Do not lecture to me, boy. The girl was probably trying to get a rise out of you. Looks like she succeeded. If there was any danger, I'd know. Now run along and read your made-up religion's books. The saloon is no place for a kid like you." "What was left of Heroica broke apart. No one had faith in an organization that could be so easily corrupted. Even the pay and free booze wasn't enough to keep some people around after that." Jinnipher sipped her mead. "That was when they started letting just anyone in. Funny, you'd think the Veterans would up security, but I guess you have to start somewhere..." "Yes, yes it did come to 'mess us up'. Why else would a demon be killing heroes? Maybe you are slow."
-
Jinnipher waved her hand dismissively. "Not likely. Just don't worry about it, alright kiddo?" She rolled her eyes at Lind but she couldn't avoid the expectant stares from around the table. She sighed. "Alright, look. All you need to know is that one time a few years ago, before any of you were here, the Hall was attacked. A few traitors let a demon in and a few people died. We didn't always have the Valkyrie's spell protecting us, you know. It could've been worse, but it proved that nowhere is safe, not even here. People had big heads. They thought they could fight anything. Me, I can take care of myself. But no one was expecting this. Long story short we stopped the Neph... demon." She crossed her arms defiantly, but her eyes had a faraway look in them. "The moral of the story is, don't be an idiot, and don't be a backstabbing traitor. I'll know a traitor when I see one, and I'll gladly behead any of you who so much as think about doing anything that compromises this organization. You're already halfway there, Lind." She ordered yet another mead, rather feverishly. "Oh, and whatever you do, don't ever set foot on Doomsayer's Island."

Hybros gets out of the hot springs with Hoke and Jin, but does not follow. For some reason it didn't feel right to interrupt them. He stood alone for a while pondering what to do, before deciding to visit the teahouse. Perhaps he could find Arthur - and maybe even some answers - there. He surely didn't mind a warm cup of tea, either.

"What is that supposed to mean? I'm nothing like these amateurs." "Something like that." She leaned forward and rested her chin on her hand and looked to be pondering something, with no expression indicating how she felt one way or the other. She scowled. "Typical, running your mouth about something you know nothing about. Put a sock in it, Lind." Turning to Pretzel, "Yeah, a no good traitor who got what he deserved. Hope he wasn't a friend of yours because he's dead now."
-
Jinnipher shook her head. "Good old Sandman can handle himself. If Lind and company want to start a mob, so be it. As long as he's not being an idiot around me." "No." She was silent for a moment, then looked to the door as the heroes trailed back in. She shook her head again. "Kids. If there really is someone going around trying to summon demons, Heroica Hall would be the worst place to do it. I doubt just anyone can summon something powerful enough to take us all on."
-
Hybos also follows Jin, willing to try anything. Hybros also relaxes in the hot springs. "Body and mind... my friend Lee Long, who is from this country, taught me to use both in and out of combat."

Jinnipher crossed her arms and set her feet up on the table, satisfied with the quiet now that everyone had left the hall.
-
"Hm, I see... Well, I think you are right, Master Jin. It is time to retire, perhaps the answers will become more clear in the morning."

"I think you might be onto something there, kiddo."
-
Jinnipher watched Pretzel go. "Looks like I was wrong on that one." She turned to Terry. "Nowhere else has free booze, so here I am. What's your idea of fun, anyway? There can't be too much to do on the farm."
-
"I see... I was mistaken then, eheh." "Heh, well I suppose we are willing to try anything. The way to get the First Breath is not apparent yet. I am curious though, what exactly is this artifact, and what are its powers?" Hybros nodded to Hoke and Master Jin as they entered the hot springs. He grinned to his ally, certain he did not have much more luck with combat than before.

Jinnipher rolled her eyes and ordered another mead. "Well it looks like no one has anywhere to go for a while."
-
"Hm... well let us hope that your future quality warriors will keep their heads then, heheheh...." Hybros sunk deeper into the water to hide his snide grin. His eyes widened at the mention of the Red Death. "No mortal can survive that, not even Avery." Hybros turned to Purpearl. "So the Golden Crusade was in Baltarok as well? They seem to be everywhere..." He gazed into the water for a moment, pondering the organization's goals. "Yes, ehehm, we are... on a tight schedule. Guf-- we, do not have years to find the First Breath." He looked determinedly at Yu Shu. "We will do whatever it takes to find it." Again looking to Purpearl and Felix beside her, and deciding not to press the issue of Matthias, asks, "Did you two find anything useful at the vault?"

"Well there you go, that's more than you had before. Wealth isn't all gold and jewels, sweetheart." Jinnipher frowned, but didn't say anything except, "I'll take the money where I can get it. That being said, I might take you up on your offer gramps. Mead isn't cheap and Scheherezade won't let you take the free stuff with you." So speaking, she drinks the remains of her mug. Another frown, and narrowed eyes. "Look, I've been here a long time, probably even longer than you, old timer. Since I asked you first and you avoided the question, I can only assume that you haven't really done all that many great things. Why else would someone your age still be here, doing small jobs? A sense of fulfillment, perhaps? If you haven't got it yet then I don't think you ever will. Not in this business. By now you should have realized life as a hired sword is hardly morally rewarding." "Me? Like I said before, I'll take the money when it comes." She crossed her arms in an unconvincing way and stuck her nose in the air.
-
Jinnipher waved her hand dismissively. "Stop whining. You got that Ancient Amber didn't you?"
-
She eyed Lind with some disdain. "Not me." She closed her eyes and curled her lip slightly to lend an arrogant expression. "I just took down a couple of cocky spirits and a dragon with no wings - twice. Some loon of a wizard was trying her hand at necromancy. Maybe she should have tried it on a smaller animal first. But I guess that's just the job, cleaning up other people's messes. It's a good thing it pays so well, hah!" With the last laugh, she raised her eyebrows and averted her eyes to the side, biting the end of her finger idly. Something indicated that Heroica didn't really pay all that well.
-
Jinnipher glanced over at the source of the interruption. "Oh. Hello Karie. Still in the same spot since our last quest together? It's good to get out once in a while, you know." She grinned slyly.
