I like your photos....they are nice additions when one is considering whether to buy a set. I agree that the second Catwoman is an improvement over the first. Her purple lips are so cool, and her belt around the waist is also a nice touch. She is one of my favorite minifigs,, and now is affordable in this small set for about 12USD with her catcycle and Batman and a huge traffic light set up. Great set!

Man, were you lucky or what! Maersk blue anything is at the top of my list! They must have just taken back a used set because the train is still in the store window in Raleigh. Cheers!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Legogal replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The last few times I checked our WalMart, they had no CMF's, nor do our Targets. Only Learning Express (3.99USD each....ugh) which has 4 and 5 in Raleigh, TRU which has 5 and a few 4's, and the Lego store, which has 6. If they have a lot of 4 and 5, many stores wait to put 6 out instead of reducing the prices of the earlier one. I finally got the ones I was looking for from these three series....found a few of them on ebay under 4.00, which was great. Have you noticed that your preferences may change over time, and if you look at an earlier series, there may be more of the figures that you now want? I now ask the people who also are feeling the bags if they want to trade the ones they got but don't want after we pay for them, and this has worked well in the Lego store and Learning Express. Wish they would just tell us what is in the darn bags!!! -
Review: 6858 Catwoman Catcycle City Chase
Legogal replied to Masked Builder's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the cool review! I picked up this set at our Lego store yesterday and really love the new figs and the catcycle! The older versions of her Catwoman and her bike were ridiculously expensive, so it was a thrill to get all of this for 13USD. Sometimes BL sellers asked 25USD just for her, and I do own one of the old ones. But it is great to get all of this for less than the price of one Catwoman about 4 years ago. We have several of her old bikes, and they look really cool parked outside my pastel houses. These are wonderful designs! I can see why our Lego store quickly sells out of them. BTW I do own a dozen or so of the older Poison Ivy, and wish they would put her in an inexpensive set like this one because I would love a new version of her as well. Her old flesh head with green lips is one of my all time favorite heads. It is just outstanding that Lego is reintroducing these minifigs because the old ones are just too rare and expensive for most of us. And the new editions look just fine to me. Maybe they will do the catcycle in some other pastel colors like dark pink. lt orange, med azure and med lavender. My Friends figs would love varooming around on this cool cycle! -
The sky high prices of the new and used modular sets is just blowing my mind! We picked up several after they first came out and built all of them except one or two spares. They are fabulous sets, but it makes me physically ill to see the rip off prices for these sets now. I guess the lesson is to get them when they are introduced if you can manage it. Another way to cut your costs on these huge sets is to attend an annual Lego convention where they offer the 30% discount at nearby Lego stores. Then stock up on the big sets buying an extra one if you can... for spare parts or for expanding the original. Our family enjoys building these sets over the holidays...we have a fun time over several days and then have a lovely finished product. Much better than going to the movies or out to eat or doing something else that is expensive and not as creative. Maybe we have to view these sets as a building experience rather than just as a large fixed cost of being Lego addicts.

Wow! A lovely design with so much detail....in white. It really jumps out done this way. The modulars all have such strong colors that it is a real treat seeing one mostly in white. The sign is very cool....it represents a company, not a building, so I think that it is fine. The balconies are very sweet....know where I would be with my favorite drink....we have a long, covered balcony overlooking our back yard, and it is my favorite place on nice day. Now if you could just arrange a nice green city park behind this building, you would be able to rent the apartments in a minute! Congratulatiions on such a fine build and for giving us more ideas for future modulars. Cooool!

Wow! Your cherry tree is awesome!!! It definitely steals the show! Was wondering what to do with my built Friends treehouse....this gives me a lot of idea....I never imagined white tree branches, but they work beautifully here. Many thanks!!!

Coooool car! The new gals look fab in their new Vette! Way to go! Now they can go out with their Friends in style.....wonder where they are heading today?

So are you saying that the walls are light blue and the roof is red? Ugh. I am so sick of red roofs I could barf! Guess I'll have to find another color for that roof...maybe gray or dark blue ala the Apple Tree House. Cheers, Legogal

Toronto Teens launch Minifig into SPACE
Legogal replied to Si-MOCs's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Very, very cool! And they did it with almost nothing expensive. Wow! ya gotta be very proud of these kids! -
Yup, purple is a very cool color! I love it in the new Friends' sets, and already had quite a bit of it bought off BL. My whole family likes purple, aqua, dark pink, Maersk/sky/light blue, azure, all of the light oranges and greens and yellows. These colors are much easier on the eyes than the traditional red, green, blue, black and yellow of lego. Let's hope that Lego does more sets in these colors!!!

I asked at the Lego store yesterday if they were discontinuing all of HP, and they said that the Diagon set will continue for now, but the rest will fade away pretty quickly. So if there is something that you want from that theme, I would go for it right away before the prices hit the stratosphere. I never had Lego (or other toys) as a child, but when my son was 3, I started collecting Lego for him. That was 20 years ago. We both still enjoy Lego today! I regret not getting the pink Duplo 4966 dollhouse and the blue Duplo 9225 playhouse when they came out about 5 years ago. Luckily I found both used for Christmas presents to me last December! They are my favorite Lego sets. Besides Duplo sets, usually I just collect minfigs and turn them into flesh colored females. And lots of pastel bricks for building houses. So I don't really miss many sets that are no longer sold. I learned years ago to buy what you really like when it is available. That is why I just bought most of the Friends sets.

What's the Biggest and Smallest Lego Piece of All Time?
Legogal replied to JCC1004's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Each cherry is small, but is one piece the whole stalk or whatever of 3 cherries? Thank god each cherry is not a single piece or I could never see them to pick them up off the floor or place them where they should be! They are so lightweight that they always bounce out of whatever fruit bowl I manage to put them in, so they always end up on the floor! -
They had some in the Raleigh NC Lego store the past week. I picked up a bag that had about 80 of the golden window inserts for the small arched windows....too bad I paid like 1-2USD each for these things two years ago on BL! But I have plenty of the window frames and will use the inserts as they are gorgeous. It looked as if all 5 bags out that day had these windows in them. A couple of the bags had pieces that looked as if they had been built and not taken fully apart. Now I understand why if they came from returns or displays. My bag was a great deal at 8USD with so many nice parts. I was also tempted to take the one Duplo bag they had as I like building with those parts, but I am very picky as to the colors I want. I will always check these bags when in a Lego store because they can be very good buys if they have parts you need. This thread has been very helpful explaining where the parts come from and how random the process is. Cheers!

Cecilie's Collectable Minifigures vignettes - series 5
Legogal replied to Cecilie's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow! These are all dropdead gorgeous vignettes! My favorite from the last batch are the snowboarder and the ice fisherman. But they all are so imaginative and well thought out...way to go! Legogal -
Wow! That is an adorable bear! Hope she likes it with the other gifts you give her!

Wow! That is one unbelievable Dragon! Just in time for the Year of the Dragon. Happy Chinese New Year to you, too. We will be celebrating tonight, but not all week as they do in the Spring Festival in China. Cheers!!!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Legogal replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Home Run Finally! (For you non-baseball folks, that means that I scored whatever!) Last night I spent an hour at our Lego Store feeling bags without much luck. Finally purchased 5 figures, borrowed their scissors and cut tops off the bags. Got two that I needed, and sold the others to folks feeling bags!!! Then got smart and saw a family from Mexico with three sons 8-12 who had small, sensitive fingers and a great sense of touch. Told them what I needed, showed the bag insert, and they found them for me! Some people (moi duh!) just lack the touch and/or have fingers that are too large to feel the differences. Finally got my genie, sleepyhead, surgeon and butcher....after buying 24 of the little suckers! So if you are having problems identifying these #$^*(*&^$$^*^%$# things, hire a kid standing around and give em a figure for their work! -
Lovely house and the flowers make it even better! Congratulations on such a fine build!

Mom & Pop stores - higher prices worth it?
Legogal replied to gratefulnat's topic in General LEGO Discussion
We don't have independent toy stores that sell Lego around us either. The only one left does not carry it because it can't compete with the prices of the big box stores like TRU and WalMart. It is a wonderful toy store that has carried a full line of Playmobil for all of the 20 years it has been in business. When I can, I buy Playmobil through them because I want to support the family that owns it. But Lego are another story. SO I usually buy from the local Lego Store, Target or TRU and sometimes off eBay if the price is right or I need something that is older. And of course BrickLink. It is clear that neither Lego nor Playmobil support the small toy stores any more, and that is sad for everyone. So if you do have a local toy shop, please give them some business now and then. Cheers! -
It is sad when they close out these fantastic modular sets. I try to buy one when they first arrive, and then another when they get marked down or I have a discount from a Lego conference or something. That way I have one to build and a spare to modify with different colors in the future. It is even sadder to see the prices sellers want for these sets on eBay. Maybe forum members should recommend to Lego that they keep these sets in stock longer so that folks have a greater amount of time to buy them. Often we can't afford or do not like a set when it first comes out, but grow to love it as time passes. This would allow us to buy one later if our mind or wallet changed, which it often does. This happened to us with the 4954 house, which we somehow overlooked when it was available from Lego. I gave up trying to find it at a reasonable price, and received the set as a gift from my future daughter in law while we were traveling in Korea. She had found it in her college town of Qingdao, China, and thought I might enjoy it not knowing that I had been looking for one for over 6 months! Good luck finding the modular sets....there are some used ones on eBay that are not quite as expensive as the new ones. The main problems with the used sets tend to be a lot of scratches, teeth marks or faded bricks even if all of the parts are accounted for. So do ask the seller if these conditions exist. Good Luck!!!

Congrats on number three! That gives you plenty of excuses to buy all the Lego you want with three kids around! That is how I got into Lego when my son was 3. Never had any as a child because we did not have them in stores where we grew up in Texas. I collect Duplo as well and they are wonderful for kids, especially used ones, because many kids chew on them. We have spent many hours building as a family, and that time has been priceless. Now our boys are grown and still love Legos. We often build a large set over the holidays and hubby adds lighting. Our Taj Majal is specactular! Best wishes with your new additioin! :sweet:

LEGO´s anti-war policy: A little hypocrite?
Legogal replied to Paulski's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As a parent, It seems that there are too many truly violent toys on the market already...especially in the US. And TV shows go way overboard in the amount of violence they portray. (We got rid of our TV when our sons were 8 and 10 ....for this reason.) Kids pick up on this and often it frightens them, especially at night when they are trying to go to sleep. So I fully support Lego's decision to not make realistic, modern warfare sets. It is fine if adults make MOC's portraying these battles, but I do not believe that Lego should sell them. Lego are supposed to be toys. -
Wow! Congratulations on being engaged and the lovely mosaic used to propose to your fiancee. This is incredibly creative and very sweet as well. The use of smooth and studded plates is first class here. Congratulations again!
