  1. LEGO popularity is at an all time high right now, thanks in part to The LEGO Movie. Add to that the fact that there are a lot of successful themes. The way I see it, (this goes specifically for retailers like Target & Walmart) stores have to make sure that they have the hot/popular themes that are selling at the right time. There's no room for them to carry every theme on their shelves for an extended period of time. With this in mind, I can see sets/themes going on clearance more often if they're not selling. I know the discussion right now is what trends people are seeing at their local retailers. To get a better snapshot, I would say everyone should see and report what's going on at their local/closest LEGO Store. Unless LEGO Stores are pulling LotR and Hobbit sets off their shelves, I don't believe there's much reason to panic.
  2. Disney does not care for the EU at all. Fans are going to become progressively more and more upset as Rebels and the ST are released.
  3. First and foremost, the Visual Dictionary is marketed as a book. Yes, the standard was set by putting an exclusive minifig in previous books. The arguements I'm reading is that the Luke minifig is a deal breaker and people will not buy the book. If you're in it for the minifig, it's probably cheaper to just go through Bricklink. I'm getting the updated Visual Dictionary because I like the actual contents of the book.
  4. If you aren't buying the updated Visual Dicitonary because of the Luke minifigure, you're probably better off getting any future exclusive minifigs offered in books via Bricklink. The contents of the book are apparently of no value to you. I'm personally looking forward to the updated material about the sets that have been released since the first edition was released.
  5. PM sent with some questions.
  6. Just a personal preference but I would go with TLM Super Cycle Chase. It look like a really good set from the movie and I particularly liked the chase. Plus you get Emmet and Wyldstyle.
  7. I'm not too fond of Luke's face. The printing makes him look older when he's really young in Ep IV when he encounters the Sandcrawler.
  8. Although I'm not too fond of Jar Jar, I don't mind his appearances in the PT & CW. I really enjoyed The Lost Missions. The way Yoda was perceived reminded me an awful lot of how we see him in the OT.
  9. Sets go on sale all the time at retail stores. For S@H, sales on exclusive sets are few and far between.
  10. Gotta love the leg printing on C-3PO. The new Sandcrawler is a definite buy for me when there's a good sale.
  11. Personally I don't mind convention exclusives. They're a good incentive for those that spend big bucks to attend them. Now I don't agree with the prices those convention exclusives fetch but that price is driven by what people are willing to pay for them. Depending on the convention, some of those exclusives can be limited to 1000-2000 units. That's a very small number when you think of all the AFOL, collectors, etc.
  12. I was really excited about the content of the updated Visual Dictionary and thought of the minifig as an added bonus. Now I'm getting the Visual Dictionary with no bonus at all.
  13. Well, LEGO S@H had a handful of Star Wars sets on clearance from 25-50% for the past few days. Strangely enough, the ones that Sold Out are no longer on the "Sales and Deals" page and are back on the theme page. Instead of showing the clearance price, they show the original price. The ones that were on clearance and didn't sell out are now back to their original prices on the theme page. Is this LEGO's way of not rubbing it in to those that missed out on the clearance?
  14. Welcome. Like that Harry Potter layout, it's very nice.
  15. Welcome and nice to meet you.
  16. I'm sure it'll go on sale but probably not as quickly as the B-Wing. For the right price, I will most likely pick up this set.
  17. If the Sandcrawler goes for $299.99 or higher, it needs to have a minimum of 20 minifigs, a bantha or two, Lars Homestead and some free passes for a family of 4 to Legoland.
  18. Spent the last two days watching The Godfather Trilogy. It was my first time watching any of those movies since the mid-80s when my family got its first VHS player.
  19. I really like the way this has turned out. It looks pretty sturdy as well. How many bricks are you up to now?
  20. It really depends on which one you want to build up more. Both sets are good for army building. As someone whole likes to army build clones, I would go with Utapau Troopers. I will acknowledge that Battle on Saleucami looks like a cheap way to build up on some droids, plus you get a clone as well. It may be cheaper to Bricklink droids though if you're looking for droids.
  21. I know it's just me but from what I see in that picture of the new Sancrawler, the MSRP should be around $199.99. Including 10-12 minifigs.
  22. Honestly I'm surprised Jabba's Palace is still around. With the controversy this set caused, we may have seen the last LEGO rendition of Jabba's Palace.
  23. Welcome! Looking forward to seeing more posts. Are you into specific themes?
