LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The Microfighters Turbo Tank will definitely put more plain Phase II clone out on the streets but I'm not sure if it'll help drive prices down. The price for set would have to be $4.99, which I find extremely doubtful. -
Why when I do a search on the main page, nothing comes up for "SERIOUS PLAY"? As already pointed out, the thing that immediately stood out for me is the horrible price per piece ratio. I'd be interested in seeing the instructions in the starter kit.
-
A UCS AT-AT would be a no-brainer purchase for me. The only thing that would make me hesitate is price.
-
I stumbled across this the other day on the United States Shop at Home site. After some quick searching here on the EB forums and a few other country S@H sites, I have found no other info or discussions on this. Thoughts? Personally I'm pretty excited to see what appears to be Millennium Falcon boat rigging in one of the sets. The prices of these sets/kits put this out of my price range. http://shop.lego.com...us-Play-ByTheme Disclaimer: Like I said, I didn't search too hard so if I missed the TOPIC elsewhere here on EB, I apologize and I'm sure someone will move/delete this post.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Not trying to stir the pot but how often do you see LEGO officially advertise sets before they come out? For me seeing all the box art and seeing the sets on various websites is enough. Seeing the animated advertising isn't going to make me want a set any more or less. That seems to be geared more towards the younger fans. The only time I see the actual advertisements is when I'm in toy stores or when I come across them on the LEGO website. -
Completely agree with you. Although I'm opposed to it, if LEGO were to make an updated UCS Falcon I would expect to see some new elements.
-
Both set were released in Summer 2012 so both are due to retire soon. Being a Star Wars fan my opinion is biased and I would go with Jabba's Palace. If you're a Ninjago fan, go with Epic Dragon Battle.
-
The Falcon did appear in the PT but it was a meaningless appearance. Not enough to warrant the Falcon being released as a PT set. Remember, E.T. was in the PT as well.
-
Time will tell. The fact that it's SW should be enough. No need to re-use iconic vehicles from the past to promote the movie of the future. Personally I would like to see new ships and vehicles. I never imagined another SW trilogy in my lifetime and soon it'll be a reality.

I wasn't into LEGO when the original UCS X-Wing was on sale. Anyone know how well the 10240 X-Wing is selling this time around? Any predictions on how long it will sell for? I would really like one but I'm waiting until the price is right. If the Millennium Falcon is still around and a primary ship in the Sequel Trilogy, I will be disappointed. The Star Wars universe is too expansive to feature the same ship again.

I understand everything you've written as far as retiring sets, etc. Everything you've stated is a given. Let me finish my thought as I was in a rush when I posted. If a new UCS Millennium Falcon is released, I'm really not too sure how well it would sell. The 10179 UCS Falcon sold from Oct 2007 to May 2010. At the end of the run, it didn't sell all that well and LEGO discounted it pretty well to clear out remaining stock. Demand increased after the set retired driving prices to its current level. If the original didn't do too well during its regular release I'm not sure how well a new UCS Falcon would do. The MSRP would definitely be higher and fans that already have 10179 may be reluctant to drop $400+ on a new release. I would probably pass unless I was able to get it at a heavily discounted price. What do others think?

My 9-yo son has expressed interest in LEGO City. He has plenty of SW sets and has a few Castle sets. What I'm looking for is a good set to start with that has good building techniques. He's done Levels 1-3 of the MBA and is getting Level 4 for Christmas. Any input will be appreciated. I'm a little nervous on his decision to branch out.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression that the UCS Millenium Falcon (10179) didn't sell all that well, which prompted LEGO to have such a large sale when it came time to retire that set. It wasn't until after that sale and retirement that 10179 became so highly sought after. My son and I had just broken into LEGO at the time and I purchased a couple at the sale price.

Eurobricks Event 2014 - Information Topic
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Is there a schedule of what the festivities will be for this event? I have a wife and 2 kids that would come with me. It sounds like a lot of you are regulars to this and I couldn't find anything particular on how things will happen if they are planned. -
I'm in for a lot of plain Phase II Clones. The more the merrier. I already have a decent amount of Phase I.
-
Easily the 10188 Death Star. It began as a project over 6 weekends with my then 6-yo son and his friend and then it took me a week of about 1-2 hours a night to finish it off.

My wife loves this show and I've seen a handful of episodes just from hanging out in the living room. The show is funny at times but the main character Jess absolutely annoys me.

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Just picked up the Republic Gunship for my son. I was lucky to have the local store here pricematch the TRU price of $79.99. Can't wait until 25-Dec so we can line her up next to 7163 and 7676. -
LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
After spending a little bit of time off the grid I've returned to what looks like a pretty solid winter wave. All of the minifigures are top notch and none of the sets look like they have high piece counts so prices should be reasonable. My son is pretty excited to army build clones from RotS and although we have the older Droid Gunship, my son really wants this newer version. We have a bunch of older sets but I think now that he's older, he wants sets to call his own. Being away from LEGO the past few months and going through this detox period so to speak has allowed me to appreciate my son's LEGO preferences. -

Had no expectations for the Ewok Village and with it finally being revealed, it only confirmed that this will definitely be an easy "PASS" for me. Especially at that price point. -

That price makes this the biggest no brainer for me. Without hesitation, pass. I've just never been into Ewoks. To me, the Ewoks are to Episode VI, the way many feel about the Gungans in Episode I. As much as I hate the Gungans, I'd take them over Ewoks any day of the week. -
As brought up earlier in here, Rebels needs to show the Rebels having their butts handed to them by the Empire and Vader. It would be cool to see some episodes where the Rebels are racing with Vader to find Jedi that survived Order 66. Of course Vader will always get there before them and the Rebels will find dead Jedi. I want to see the Rebels have heavy losses.

What was the last movie you watched?
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Saw the new Star Trek movie with the family today. Pretty decent.
