  1. That's a good question! I'd prefer an acoustic guitar to this one.
  2. That's a great model. Considering the size of the original, you've managed to include all the significant details to make her recognizable. Really well done!
  3. For me, sorting is a never-ending process. Every now and then I get a new set, and after a while I dissassemble it, most often when I get a new Bricklink order. Then I do my best to sort it. But the biggest problem is that when I build, the bricks I don't need anymore, they don't get straight back to their storage bags or boxes (as I might need them later) . Like yesterday evening, I was home alone and was sorting for 4 hours - 3 smaller sets, 2 bricklink orders and table scraps from my previous and current buildings. I had my computer on, and was listening to some calming Celine Dion songs, but I haven't finished it. I usually get in the sorting mood, when I know I have more bricks coming from some order, so I try to make more spaces for them.
  4. Thanks for the nice suggestion, Itaria. Unfortunately, I already have a partner for CM chase around the stores. His fingers are already skilled in searching the bags, and he's wishlist is very similar to yours, so I very easily get what I want. As for the singer, she's not that bad, I like the guitar, but not her pinkish hair.
  5. I'd vote for the Recycling truck (why is it not included? ). However, out of the listed ones, it's pretty close between the Ambulance and the Car and Camper. Since I don't own (yet) the latter, my vote goes to the Ambulance. The reason for this is not so much related to the vehicle itself, but more to the set as a whole. There's the green bike, and the paramedics, and an ambulance itself is something not seen in LEGO for few years now, and although not perfect, it has great playability.
  6. It's the same here with 'late' releases. Although I've heard CM7 are due in April (as well as Friends). In my opinion, CM7 have better figures, more interesting and new accesories, and in general I found them more 'civilian' oriented. It's even hard to chose a favourite one. My top choice(s) is/are the nerd (1 going straight to my desktop at work), the hippie (new flower stem ), the tennis player (for the racket mostly) and the swimmer (because of the medal and swimsuits). But then there's the little red riding hood, and the bride, and the bunny costume and scottsman with the bagpipes.
  7. That's a great house, Honeybee! The colour scheme is so simple, yet it adds to the character of the house. The bay window is great (especially its size), and so is the terrace above it. However, my favourite part of this MOC is the garden. The pond and the colourful flowers add life to the MOC. I haven't seen round 1x1 plates used as flowers before, but they do look nice, although they're not that good for moving them around.
  8. This was really nicely re-built. My favourite are the bay windows, they really make a nice detail. Also the bridge and the bus stop are nice additions. Good luck with the competion.
  9. That's a great MOC. The garden looks amazing, even though it's a small one. But it has everything - some lovely designed trees, a bunch of different flowers (a combination of classic flowers, 2x2 flowers, Friends flowers and different flower stems is fantastic) and a tree house! I can't say what caught my attention the most, but at different time points throughout the day, I kept noticing new details. The sand green roof blends in really nicely, and the camera tripod stands out as well. The ruler on the side from the entrance is a nice addition. All in all, it's a great tree house. In the end, I have to admit that seeing some lovely MOCs with Friends-ladyfigs, makes me like these new ladyfigs more and more.
  10. Agreeing with many before, this isn't just a modular. I see it as a modular based on Green Grocer, yet being enough different to impress on its own. The details that caught my eye are the bay window in the middle floor, the little terace on top floor, and the fascinating interiors. The combination of Butcher's and Doctor's is unusual to be put together. The major impact of this modular is its interiors. I like how you put together two different freezers, and while the bread and crossants look strange at the butcher, the doctors from upstears can get a sandwich during the lunch break at the same place. Also the doctor's place is well equipped. I like how you made the examination table and the x-ray board in the back. But the top of this creation is definitively its message: 'Don't mess with the nurse!'
  11. The hot dog trailer looks nice, also I like how you 'aged' it by using tan and white colour combination (some paint missing, I am right?), and the missing light is great. However, I'm not so sure about getting a hot dog there.
  12. Thanks for the review, SilentMode. It was funny and enjoyable , where I can't say the same for the set. I do prefer Stephanie's bakery to this one. The wheels are just too big, and there's not much interesting colours/pieces. Also, the bunny has an unusual face (for a bunny, that is).
  13. I was a bit surprised, when I first heard of the bagbuilding. It never crossed my mind to think about it or even try it. But then I tried it with two city impulse sets and I found it to be interesting enough to try with a slightly bigger set. The only problem is I hardly ever get a set with just 1 bag per 1 model. So I tried the new 4431 Ambulance. First bag went ok, while the second one broke half way through the building process and that's where I stopped with bagbuilding and finished off the model. The second bag was also trickier as it was supposed to be based on the contents of the first bag, and since it was not, it was hard to keep the bricks together in the first building steps.
  14. After some time of 'living' in the house, it was time to plant some flowers. This is how it turned up. I tried blue, dark pink, yellow and red flowers, and in the end I settled for red ones. And I'm not even sure what kind of flowers these are. I do think the house has more life to it now.
  15. This is, again, another great MOC using all the interesting colour from Friends, and including the ladyfigs. I have to admit, you had a great idea of combining the sets and making this whole thing. What's more, I like how you put the colours and different themes together, from math equations to coffe and great music in the background. Now I'm really looking forward to see more of your friendly MOCs.
  16. It's not just you, I noticed the curvy torso as well. I think it has something to do with the sausage diet.
  17. Thanks for great comments, everyone. The idea of putting flowers on the windows is great. I'm building another two houses (in a very slow fashion), so I'll just try to use these ideas on this one, and post some picture of the modified version. It's strange, but once I think the building is done, there's always something that could be added. P.S. Sorry for bumping the thread. I've only seen these comments now, and wanted to say thanks.
  18. This is an excellent building. I've looked at the photos many times, and I still can find some amazing detailing I missed before. It looks very classic and I wouldn't mind moving in there, setting up a big library and a LEGO room inside.
  19. Same here, I built both Market Street and Caffe Corner from Bricklink (price range 300 EUR approximately). The problem as mentioned are some rare bricks. I was collecting the right bricks for these buildings over a year, and I was lucky enough to get dark blue arch for CC, but not MS. The thing is, my MS is not straight from the booklet. Makes no sense buying a single brick for 20 eur or more. I had to change from 1x4 darkblue bricks to 1x2 and 1x10 due to their price, and used tan brick arches. I'm still missing one door and some rubber black hose. It's worth a try collecting the bricks for both models. If you decided it's not worth it in the end, you can still use the bricks for your own modular, so I'd say just go for it. Use of alternative colours is also a wise choice.
  20. Thanks for a great review, Rufus. This set is one of those I'm not really sure to buy. Your review did help me get more in favour of the set, but I'm still not convinced. For one thing, dark red lines on the caravan are not bright enough, and the red bike is a classics. For the caravan colour scheme, I'm more in favour of the camper from 2009, and instead of the common red bike, a new and more interesting or rarer colour could be introduced (such as blue or yellow or white). Nevertheless, it's always great to see more 'civilian' City sets.
  21. Honeybee, that's a lovely house design. I like it for the fact that it has an open back to reveal some of the inside activities. What's more, I have to admit that the 'Friends' dog in the entrance hall looks quite ok next to a minifig. Regarding the house, my favourite are the bay windows and the small Christmas tree. Really well done.
  22. Thanks for the pictures of the built Town Hall. I still like the building, although I don't like the way the elevator is built. I agree with @David Thomsen that the elevator mechanism should be more disguised. I'd prefer something more hidden than the actual hole in the wall for a simple purpose of moving the elevator up and down. I don't care that much for playability of the modular sets. All in all, it's still a great set. And I'm in on the crying part with @Grogall. Wish the set would be out already!
  23. That's a nice guesthouse. I like how you used different shades of grey and combined bricks and round parts to make it look more textured. The climbing wall is a nice addition, however it does look a bit dangerous. The climber sure looks experienced, but he should be wearing a safety helmet at least, shouldn't he?
  24. Thanks for the review, scottwb2010. Well, this is another set I am hardly waiting for. The icing on the cake are the green bike and the paramedics team for me! If I am not mistaken, in the past few years the 'hospital' team has not been in the first plan in the City, and now we're getting bunch of medical related bricks and sets (the surgeon, the nurse, ambulance, vet clinic). Hopefully, it will increase a number of 'hospital'-related MOCs. The ambulance itself seems nice, but not excitingly nice when just looking at the pictures.
  25. Seeing the back of the box, makes me like the set even more. I think this one has more interiors than the previous ones, and the fact of the open space doesn't bother me at all. I'm not so sure about the 'new windows'. It looks to me, as if half of the window is hidden behind the wall. Nevertheless, the set is fine, and I'm looking forward to see a review on it.
