New 2007 Castle stuff: Good for Pirating?
snefroe replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in LEGO Pirates
based on this picture, I'd say there's nothing that would fit Pirates very well. Sure, a skeleton here and there, most definitely these new swords, but I think that's it... -
well i wouldn't mind a WW theme, provided the quality is really good, at least as good as the old WW line. Unfortunately, it seems to me that Lego is most of all investing in the city line and Star wars. So even if they were to announce the return of WW, i'd still be quite worried about what exactly that WW theme would be.

So, modern military lego is out of the picture...
snefroe replied to Zarkan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
i think the millitary theme in general is very far away from Lego's drawing boards right now, for one thing only: the current lines are very successful, they don't need a military theme to boost the sales, so why risk it? -
well i find these sets horrible, to be honest. you can only play with it as children do, there's hardly anything you can build; the plastic looks terrible... hm... not my cup of tea...

yep! my first set since the dark age! hope they have something of the same type *sweet*

i've always felt this set is kinda terrible. dreadfull colors, lousy parts, ... Hope this year's sets are a lot better than this

bought the UCS batmobile yesterday. Don't know why, really, it's that time of year when you just buy stuff you don't need/want... you're just sucked into it all... :-$

Member Titles - Questions and Answers
snefroe replied to languages's topic in Forum Information and Help
I say, I don't care what title the pimp will give me! it seems i'll be quillotined in January in Paris anyway! I'm not scared of the pimp!! i've been given the worst titles EVER!! I've become immune to his abuse of his powers!! in fact, they're so scared of me, they don't even dare giving me a title what so ever! I say we need to start a revolution right here, right now! I say let's overthrow the pimp and create a new, and 2nd chamber! we'll call it "the dungeon" and we'll throw the pimp in there! Then we'll be free to give ourselves the titles we want!! yeah!! :-P who's with me, people!?! 8-| btw, what's a "hyper admin"? and ah yes, we'll get vcvc back on board and we'll throw him into the dungeon as well! wouldn't it be really fun to watch what will happen then? -
European or American, who is the better builder?
snefroe replied to morris's topic in General LEGO Discussion
what makes you think that? Europe takes 60% of Lego's market! the company still is European! yes, you touched a very sensitive element here :-P -
i'm with Gyl on this one. the old sword is back, the minifigs look good, but the castle is a disappointment, especially after the release of the semi classic castle of this year, or the year before, but maybe it has all sorts of details inside... i was also hoping for brown spears, not these grey ones, or the viking styled axes would have been cool as well... in all i'm not really impressed, it's a lot better than KK, but it lacks the sophicated style of the castle era or the viking theme.

great sets! especially the round 6x6 brick in the cement mixer! gotta have that... at least a few times...
-
g... you'd almost think they're waiting for Lego to aprove this release of the city pages... :-|
-
:-X ... you're gonna cut me in half in januari, kill one part then and kill the other part later on the year? :-X is that the plan? :-X :-X
-
you can kill me, yoda, but you will NEVER get my Lego! X-D

well it's true that Lego is far more into action/conflict-based themes/sets than playmobil. Maybe that has to do with the audience of both brands. Lego is fully focused on boys who love to play "knight" or "Cowboy" or "Luke". Playmo is not only directed to boys, but also girls. Sure, Lego once had Paradisia and that failed completely, but I think that had more to do with the fact that Lego in general was really losing market share at that point. yes, Brickster, I do think the Lego stuff resembles Playmo, obviously, not when the zoo is concerned, but whatever Lego has, Playmo also has it in practically the same approach. Both have, for instance, a viking longboat, a police motorcycle,... I'd also advise people with kids to not buy Lego but playmo, because i feel that: 1) playmo is far closer to the real society than Lego. playmo has lots of females and children; Lego refuses to use both for commercial reasons; playmo also has normal city substance, not just the action-based construction, police, firefighting sets... 2) lego is far more aggressive than playmo. Playmobil heads will always smile, Lego heads very often look angry; the choice of sets within themes very often is directed to aggressive stories, like instead of releasing a police officer with a bike to control traffic, they produce an anti-terrorist unit ... in my view, they should fire all marketeers and produce the stuff that made them great instead of listening to these free market wizz kids from Harvard
