it's a nice and rare set. think it was US only, or not a set from the good old fashioned catalog
-
i agree, the quality went down after the blacktron 1, message intercept base, which i loved; not only has it a large platform, it also has these hidden corners and hallways, stuff that i really loved when i was young... no, i didn't include the magnetiser, because i consider that to be a mobile base, very much like the insectoids base...
-
a classic space station with a raised baseplate? perhaps you're referring to this: that's blacktron 2. CS never had raised baseplates.... yeah i didn't add the Spyrrius station and the blacktron 2 to limit the options a bit, or in the end, you get a poll with 1 vote for each... more or less :-$ i voted for the message intercept base... what a beauty

my ship is also finished, i'll also take pics later on... however, i fear for this moc... it won't be alive for very long... :-X

sure you can use the technic holes to attach the cylinder, but for me the problem remains the same: the options inside the cylinder are limited. sure, it's obvious you can use this as engine exhaust, but i was kinda hoping for the cylinder to be completele empty... oh well, we'll see what people come up with

i was referring to this

hm... i'd get something up with one of the experienced sites. it's hard to imagine that these sites have invested 30000 euro for every part they're producing these days. there must be another way
-
you wish! these parts have spirals inside! really not great! and no studs inside, only a hole for a technic axl

bart smit in wijnegem shopping. they also had the carriage and some castle i think. the carriage was 20

i couldn't resist and emmediately modified this set. actually, i had to change quite a lot: :-$ got rid of the second wheel and the mechanism, added a seat, changed the mirrors, added the black pipe at the back, added a fuel tank next to the two yellow levers... really, almost an entirely different thing, except for the cabin and the cylinder... i love those blue hoses :-$ i think they are from an arctic set, anyway, the first thing i thought of was adding those. i know, it's a cement mixer, they don't use hoses, but oh well, they looked so fine i just didn't have the heart to remove them. this is the other side; ah yes the white doors... couldn't find them, i'll have to order some :-X the bad thing is that these three wheels don't touch the ground. i had the same problem with the origina set as well. the plates are not all that straight, but seem too flexible, or maybe it's the cabin section that's just too heavy to keep a good balance between back and front.

hm... this is weird. have lego prices in the US gone up lately? i've always thought that lego in the US was significantly lower than in Europe, now they're the same. i know 1

just bought and build the set. i must say it looks better on photo than in reality. 1) it's just too long. sure you can design an 8 wheeled truck but if you also add the wheel arches, you need 4 studs for every wheel which is too much. 2) there's no chair. getting one inside is doable but only if you remove the floor 3) we've discussed the mirrors already. the problem you'll have is the black line between the window and the white roof, now there's a rail of 1x6, changing the mirrors to the roof means you'll have to change the rail to 1x4. sure, it's easy, but is it estheatic? don't think so 4) don't know why they've used a yellow slope and red technic bricks inside 5) the mechanism to keep the cylinder in this position is IMO too large; i understand why they designed it like this, but i don't like it 6) the back side is too simple really. basically, it's just the cylinder and the cement gun. this needs serious modding 7) inside the cabin there's a yellow steering wheel and another yellow lever. that's nice 8) i also like the grey cylinders behind the cabin. they're hiding the mechanism for a small part. that's cool 9) the cylinder doesn't look wide enough for a truck this large, but i guess it's still doable 10) inside the cylinder, there are these spirales as in a real truck... damn! that makes it more difficult to use it for something else 11) the plastic... hm... i have my doubts about the quality. the light grey doesn't look too solid. for instance, the corners don't look as grey as the sides. the white... hm... some parts look good others... the bley parts all have damaged corners; the white roof doesn't fit well onto the black plates; the printing on the 1x1 tiles is fading already!! the black hose is supposed to be attached to two blue technic parts, but that isn't working out very well. not enough friction between both parts 12) the instruction book has some major problems with colors. blue looks like dark blue

just got the 7090, the smallest set for 4.95 euro. this has got to be the perfect army building set! 1) i like the white horse. the quality looks good 2)the skeleton is not that great. the legs are too short, the arms aren't great but i may be able to use them in other mocs. it's quite unique to have a part that connects bars in a X and Y-axis... sure, it's white, which is not ideal for space ships... 3) the shield. one word: brasso!! 4) the sword looks like a part of a fairly cheap model kit. the plastic is too flexible 5) the axe... bluish grey... i prefer the old brown ones, a paintjob is needed 6) the helmet looks like aluminium instead of iron... a paintjob 7) dark blue torso and the light grey arms don't do it for me. 8) the other guy's helmet needs a paintjob. it's as if this guy never went to war with his helmet, as if he kept him MISB! :-P ; mint condition in polybag in sealed box . also, the helmet hides his eyebrows... hm... better get me another head without eyebrows 9) lego still hasn't resolved the color question in the instruction book. black looks like dark grey 10) the golden piece doesn't do it for me. the color doesn't look to be solid 11) crossbows: paintjob urgently!!! 12) the cart looks nice though. Lego succeeded to fuse playability and design quality pretty well... still, i'll modify this one, based on some research

i can't imagine why people shouldn't be using the viking hull. i think it should work out perfectly, but only if you build a type that make these hull sections look good, where they actually are an addition to the model. not every ship of the pirate era was of the same classic type, after all... in this case i'd say it doesn't look bad, but like most, there's this feeling something doesn't add up. maybe you should do some research in ships of that era and see if you can build a copy of that with the viking hull...
-
not MISB; that would have been too much i guess X-D can't have everything X-D
-
lol oops :'-) he doesn't seem to allow a link to the stickered list. anyway, just go to the part "sticker" in there and you get it as well
-
yeah... and then he'll say 99% is actually not for him but for ras! X-D
-
well you can always go through the list...
-
btw, just out of curiosity, does this also include Northern Ireland ? if i were you, i'd just set it up, get the network going, in time people will respond. maybe you can contact Lego Ireland as well, surely they can spread the word also
-
well, this small creator set has four of them; it's about 10 euros and it's a fantastic parts pack 8-

i think i'll go for this part in black, it's looks better than the old one...

i don't think the afols have anything to do with the succes of the classic lines. city sells in large numbers because small boys are interested in the firefighting theme, police sets, airplanes,... Parents are buying duplo again because probably they grew up with duplo 25 years ago... technic a success? weird... i just heard from several shopowners that technic still does not sell. it's kinda difficult to say what lines sell or don't sell if you're forced to buy mixed packages of lego sets, so if you buy 10 city sets because that sells pretty well, you're also forced to buy a technic set or two. does that mean technic sells? don't think so. afols don't mean anything in terms of numbers compared to the number of general lego fans. besides, we've all been buying lego sets in the last 5-7 years, so afols buying city sets isn't really new since 2005-2006. that doesn't explain the improved results. it's just the general public that is buying lego again. sure, lego direct probably saw in increase in sales. after all, sets like the caf

yeah... i'm gonna try to get mine finished today
