Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I agree, especially if an old type bookstore would NOT have a built-in cafe. I'm thinking of an used book shop where it's more like a messy museum/attic than a place to get the latest best seller. Maybe like the bookstore from The Neverending Story movie or from the Good Omens mini-series. And we'll definitely need a secret room to the most private of private collections, which includes books in chains. -

The first floor of the diner with its wide windows has a car dealership feel to it. Maybe expand it with a mirror build of the first floor. -
Has anyone come up with a physical way to allow for stickers to be applied in the same position for multiple pieces? For example, if I'm applying stickers to multiple 2x2 plates, I would want the stick on each to look like they are in the same position. I don't think just eye-balling it will work. Back to the multiple tiles example, I built a lego frame that rests over the bottom edge of a row of plates and tried to use that as a guide for the sticker, like a ruler, so that at least one side of the sticker is in the same position across all plates. But the problem is that there is always a gap between the tile and the frame so the sticker can sometimes slide into the gap during application. I guess I could replace the lego frame with a strip of tape to eliminate the gap, but now I have to worry about aligning a very long strip of tape. They should print sticker sheets with a border around each sticker where the border matches the exact size of the target piece, if possible. There is a cut around the border itself, so the border is essentially a sticker frame around the center sticker. Then to apply the sticker, we just lift up one side of the border sticker and center sticker, align the border to one edge of the piece, which automatically aligns the center sticker, and then only press down upon the center sticker onto the piece. The border stick then can be discarded. Yes, the five sticker sheets from the xtras set is giving me anxiety.

Some modular buildings (and related sets) are designed for vehicles to drive into, through, or around. Has anyone tried swapping out the normal baseplate with a road one so the road on the set is on the same level as the the roads around the building? Fire Brigade: use straight street plate? Corner Garage: use curve street plate? Ghostbusters HQ: use straight street plate?

Challenge would be to add a back to the house, probably with a mirror copy of the set.

Have you considered using Lego Ideas sets for the interiors? I've seen someone fit the contents of the Big Bang Theory set into one of the upper floors of the Cafe Corner. And I'm thinking the upcoming Friends set (the tv show, not the theme) may work for the first floor. Maybe the Research Institute can fit into the remaining floor. Here is one example. If I try this, I'll see if I can line the floor with wood panels. -
Has anyone removed the ball-socket parts and joined the two halves back to back to form a complete house? Trying to imagine what it would look like within a town/city layout.

Just got the Benny and Sweet Mayhem brickheadz delivered from Target. They have the same Limited Edition stickers as the more expensive Walmart sets. -

Didn't watch the movie yet but was the Wizard of Oz even in the movie. If not, then they use any unrelated license to fill up a CMF series 2. -

Seems like this has room to support eight dragon handlers, but perhaps that many bodies would draw focus away from the dragon itself. I think would prefer the motion to be smooth and would make a better impression to others.

REVIEW: 80101 Chinese New Year's Eve Dinner

It seems that if I really want this, I have to order from a bricklink seller from an asian country. Anyone have a suggestion on which country offers reasonable shipping to the US? -

The designer for the Dragon Dance are at least Nick Vas (@princegalidor) and Niek van Slagmaat (@toothdominoes), so perhaps they were also involved with this one. -
Are these exclusives to Lego stores or will other retailers be able to sell them?

Oh man, I've been waiting for them to drop more Wizard of Oz figures since the first year of Lego Dimensions! Finally! Anyone see the giraffe and think it's in honor of Toys R Us? Someone mentioned the girl band being called the holograms. Is that just a joke or is it really true? Now I can finally have a battle of the bands with Josie and the Pussycats (from series 14) and Jem and the Holograms! -

Emmet just murdered the queen, turned her into an art project for his girlfriend, and is hiding his insanity behind the standard always-smiling minifigure face. -
According to this, there are over one million Chinese in Australia. But the USA has five times that <wink wink nudge nudge>. But compared to the total population, Australia is 5.6% Chinese while USA is only 1.5%.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
badbob001 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
You know what is so magical about that flower cart? It can make an AFOL buy a new modular on the month that it's released, despite his or her normal tendency to wait up to a two years for some sort of sale or VIP points incentive. But I'm kind of glad LEGO isn't following the common video game practice taking part of the finish game and selling it as DLC. "You want a tow-truck for your corner garage? We made the designer work over the holidays to come up with this baby. Totally unplanned <wink>." -
It looks like the 2nd and 3rd floor are inter-changeable so putting the vet on the 3rd floor will make the sign more visible. I do like the wide wall of windows for the upper floors, which reminds me of the fictional spacious city apartments that are somehow affordable to underpaid or jobless characters in sitcoms. The garage is too bare inside. It just screams for clutter. Below are the garage elements from the Simpson's House. I think the tool rack can go under the stairs and the work bench can be placed on the wall between the rear door and the car lift and would help hide the play feature component.

That name would be more believable than just "Garage". All modular building sets so far have had two word names. -

I can't really back this up, but I suspect more LEGO products are bought for children than for adults, so it makes sense to prioritize their marketing towards kids. I see the advertising of the modular buildings as basically a one-time short-duration event and only happens when the product is immediately available (one design video, feature in calendar, and cover page on catalog). If LEGO promotes it too early, then they would need to spend more money to advertise again later to remind people that the product is actually available now. So for the best bang of their advertising dollars/euros: advertise to adults that the modular is available now, adults go to the store to check it out, and most importantly, the adults will bring their kids to the store as well (kids usually need adults to buy the products for them). So there you have it: the modulars are to get adults to bring their kids to the store. -
The funny thing is, if that set has a leak, it will literally sink.
